Food / Polish Christmas Eve Dinner recipes [69]
I know this is a little late, but I just got on here today. Our Polish tradition for our Polish Christmas Eve Wigelia dinner was Mushroom Soup made from dried mushrooms form Poland, a mild white fish broiled in a pan in the oven with butter & lemon, non-meat pirogues with sautéed onions & sour cream, Sauerkraut sautéed with onions, mushrooms & caraway seed. And for desert, usually a poppyseed yeast dough cookan. (Don't know what it was called) We would take the wafers at the beginning of the meal and go around the table blessing each other as we shared a bit of the wafer with each other. Lovely tradition! Then we would all go off to Midnight Mass.
