UK, Ireland / Inheritance Law in Poland and debts - how does it affect a British child? [27]

I have similar problem - Polish speaking solicitors in this country don't want to know. British Embassy in Poland don't want to know, (just refer you to their list of English speaking lawyers). English speaking lawyers in Poland won't speak unless pay £600 up front (which we don't have). Deceased's family in Poland can't/won't give ANY details of who to contact or any paperwork but insist we have to travel to Poland and see a notary (something which we can't afford to do). Apparently despite there being 5 children in total only 2 were "registered" in Poland when deceased got residency so only officials only aware of 2 children. Do we just wait until the Polish authorities send us something?

Law / Joint property law in Poland [7]

@Atch - I appreciate what you're saying but my daughters (who are still reeling from their loss) have absolutely NO information other than a picture of the document they need to sign (written in Polish) and a message in poor English saying if they don't sign they owe £10,000 on a car loan. None of us have the money to either fly to Poland or engage a solicitor in this country on the limited information we have. Their first impulse is to just sign the waiver, but it's so alien a concept (in comparison with UK law) we're just trying to understand the situation. We're not "faffing about" it's a simple question I asked: does jointly owned property revert to the co-owner or become part of the estate?

If a person dies intestate in Poland (there is no will) and they jointly own property with another, does the property revert to the joint owner or become part of the estate?

Law / UK Citizen resident in Poland dying intestate - inherited debt issue [17]

I have signed up, but not sure about making posts as it says on the terms and conditions not to make duplicate or unnecessary posts? My daughter won't be taking any action in the short term until she gets something concrete from Poland (even if it needs translating). Thank you for your offer
