The purchase is not the issue but l want to find out more about how they built these sturdy houses. How they damp proofed them etc.

Well l have just bought a 1928 Polish building in Lviv Ukraine. I am interested in how they constructed foundations and how they prevented damp during this period.I understand the principle of a house having to breath but how did they overcome rising damp during this period. Any information would be grateful.
