If you are not married, you are not able to apply as dependent in Poland, unfortunately. You can form a company and apply for a temporary residence permit for 3 years. I got mine done recently.

As a foreigner, you are required to have license and permit to buy land in Poland. Are you EU citizen? Also, do you have Residence Permit or Temporary Residence Permit in Poland?

Getting a master is a great option as the tuition is rather cheap compared to other countries, yet you get good education here.
Teaching English/Mandarin in Poland is tricky, according to what I know, average Polish schools pay very little to teacher. Of course you get treated well in international schools in Poland.

I would say remote work is a better choice if the teaching offer is not attractive.

National visa, it is issued to people who intend to stay in Poland for long term. You dont need a Schengen visa to Poland as American citizen for 90 day-stay.

You can try apply as the dependent, your wife needs to show sufficient amount of financial stability to support you. If you dont depend on your wife, you can have a company formed in Poland and apply for a work permit as the employee under self-employment In this case, you can also apply for temporary residence permit if you intend to stay long term.

As American citizen, you simply do NOT need a visa to come to Poland!!! It automatically gives you 90-day stay in Poland upon landing. Pay no attention to the failing New York Times report... When you enter Poland, the Polish border guard will tell you clearly you have 90 days to stay in Poland with your American passport. Of course, while you are in Poland, if situation changes, you may be offered a job, or you may start a business, you can apply for Temporary Residence Permit to stay legally.

Agreed!!! Nobody hears much about destination travel in Poland in their home countries. Maybe the Poles do not want that many tourists to come visit. If they do, I think they might need to learn from Australia!

Hope it is not too late to answer your questions.
1) Is it feasible/possible for Americans ...
A: Yes it is totally possible for American citizens to get a residence permit, but you have to get a temporary one first. You can make it a self-employed situation with sufficient income to obtain the permit.

2) Is it possible to register as a partner ...
A: Being a partner of a Polish resident in Poland doesn't make the process easier, unless you are the spouse of the Polish citizen. This has been my experience and it is the answer I got from legal service. I am not 100% sure of it though.

3) Does anyone know anything about ...
A: The bilateral agreement between Poland and US is supposed to allow American citizens to stay in Poland for 90 days and get out of Poland. For how many days to stay out of Poland before coming back, no one knows and nowhere says anything. In theory, you can stay in Poland for 90 days, and on the 90th day, you leave Poland and head to neighboring non-EU countries like Ukraine for 1 day, you can re-enter Poland without a problem, another 90 days should be granted. However, with border situation changes in recent 2 or 3 years, this deal doesnt work any more. And please do NOT cross into any Schengen countries when your 90 days is up, otherwise you may be facing huge fines and a black mark on your passport.

Here are the answers to your questions-
1. Probably you will get the the TRP for 3 months only. My first one was granted exactly how many days as the files I submitted.

2. I don't think it matters any more when you wait for your temporary residence permit. After you get your permit, you use it to travel in Europe. No one would count any days any more. If your TRP request is denied, its best you do not enter any other Schenggen countries.

3. Highly suggest that you don't leave Poland while waiting for the result. With so many various issues going on, you never know if the Polish border guard will let you in after spending 1 day or 2 in Ukraine. Even though people kept talking about the bilateral treaty between the US and Poland, which is supposed to allow American citizens come and go as you follow the 90 days rule. I guess the Polish customs probably have the dates of your entry in their computer besides the stamps on the passport pages, like CBP folks do. If not, haha, great! I havent experienced the Polish Ukrainie border crossing, but heard from those who have don e that saying it is super time consuming, and risky if you do not speak Polish or Russian.
