We have rice and milk every Christmas eve at our family Wigilla dinner for the past 80 years. This is my favorite dish at this dinner and I wait all year for this most delicious soup. Below is our family's recipe for this dish. The ingredients are in large quantities because we make it for about 50 people but you can cut their quantities in half to fit your needs for a smaller group. Enjoy...
Rice milk soup recipe:
4 cups of white rice
1 pound of butter
2 gallons of whole white milk
2 and 1/2 table spoons of salt
2 and 1/2 table spoons of sugar
Mix ingredients into large soup pot and cook on low for 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours.
Serve hot with cinnamon and or nut meg on the side to be added for extra flavor if desired.
