Law / Poland's Zloty 43% undervalued [30]

Merged: Polish zloty devaluating

During different periods of time the zloty has reached a conversion rate higher than 4.40 PLN/EURO. Yesterday went suddenly to 4.48 PLN/EURO apparently due to a law signed from the new PIS government.

Is the current conversion rate just a peak or will it stay there for the long term?

Law / Biggest supermarket chains in Poland vs Germany [23]

I am talking about shops one of which you can meet even in a smaller town or a village, and in bigger cities there is many of them.

Yes that is what I see also. The big supermarket chains in Germany are all German. The laws in Germany make it difficult to non-german supermarket chains to flourish in Germany. On the other hand, in Poland you have chains from several countries and many german ones. With the new polish government, the germans complain about a new tax to their supermarket whereas they don't allow any big foreign supermarket on their country.

The germans seem to be quite hypocrite on this matter. They want open and accessible market (for instance in Poland) since they profit from that, however, they don't allow the same the other-way around.

Law / Biggest supermarket chains in Poland vs Germany [23]

Hi guys

I recently have been speaking with some polish people about how in Poland there are supermarket chains from several countries mostly German ones, but also French (Carrefour) and Britisch (Tesco) and that the new polish government wants to introduce taxes to these foreign supermarket chains, germans are complaining about that. In Poland there are still a lot of small supermarket which are on polish hands.

I am for open market and it is very nice to have different choices of supermarkets and products, however I have been checking the situation in Germany. There are basically no big foreign supermarket chains operating in Germany and the laws in Germany make it hard for non-german supermarket chains to operate in Germany (no Tesco, no Carrefour etc).

I mean, the point is, why the germans are complaining about the new taxes to their supermarket chains in Poland while they do not allow foreign supermarkets on their soil?

Food / Why Poles not like rice? [81]

Why are you trying to impose meanings from one language on another.

Why are YOU trying to impose the use of the word America and mean a country and not a continent? .You are using the term wrongly, it does not matter how most of english speakers use it.

As a native speaker of language which comes directly from Latin, I am allowed to call you Barbarian, since that is the team for lutheran-protestan Barbarians like you!

They call us 'Anglo Sajons' fgs but I too polite to complain.:):):)

I simply call you Barbarian

back to the topic please

Food / Why Poles not like rice? [81]

Potatoes come originally from America (when I say America I mean the continent and not the dammed US, freaking ignorants those who use the term America and mean a country)... I cannot imagine how the food would look like in many european countries without potatoes.

Thanks to the spanish empire, you have potatoes, so be thankful, specially to those of direct spanish ancestry born in the american continent

News / Polish families are urged to establish themselves in Norway : Taking children away? [36]

r

Assuming that is truth, which I doubt, the children should be given to the relatives of the parents and not to homosexual adoptive "parents". The children are citizen of a foreign country, Norway has no right whatsoever to do what they please

There was one case of a child who told to her teacher in school that her mother "took away" from her one of her teeth. When the mother wanted to pick up her child, barnevernet already took away the child from the mother and until now, the mother has not gotten the custody back.

Moreover there are the testimonies of those children one they grow up and accuse barnevernet of their kidnap from their parents.

There is a case of a polish "kidnapper" to takes away children from barnevernet and brings them back to their biological parents. A real hero.
