Law / Foreign currency accounts in Poland [49]

berni23

My only concern is if there are any fees with an International wire if XE transfer PLN to a PLN account.
And yes, I did read the thread through but still did obtain all the info I was looking for. I want to find a bank that does't charge for a wire denominated in PLN going to a PLN account.

Your help is appreciated.

Law / Foreign currency accounts in Poland [49]

I will be moving to Poland in the near future from Canada. I will be transferring $Cad to my account at XE.com which has the lowest rates for exchange. I will be opening an account in Warsaw in the early fall in PLN and EUR. I am seeking information on wiring money into either account and the appicable fees from the Poland side.

With XE I can wire the money directly to the appicable account.

For example, I want to transfer $10,000 Canadian dollars to XE where it gets converted to PLN at the cheapest rate and then it would be moved to the appropriate Polish account (ie converted to PLN and goes to a PLN account). Is there a bank that does no charge for the receipt of money being wired into an account of the right currency - ( ie XE conversion of PLN to the PLN bank account.)

Thanks in advance

Love / english girl struggling with polish boyfriend's friends [20]

Please someone give me some advice or words of support! I feel so upset about this!! I have no idea what to do about it either. Thank you!

I have been married to a Polish woman for 16 years. I have ran into to your problem more times than I can think. At first I thought it was just me but the problem really lies in the fact that they just naturally speak their own native tongue, especially around family and especially after they have had a couple of drinks. Attempts have been made to speak in English but it always ends up back in Polish. I don't blame anyone but have started to study the language......I use the addage if can't beat'em ya might as well join them........and I will but the language is not the easiest in the world to learn but my stubbornness and my love for my wife are the greatest motivators.

Powodzenia!

Language / z Tadeusz Brominski. The first z has me confused. [5]

Thanks for your help. The above on pory was a typo.

I am doing a Polish presentation in Power Point called Pory Roku

by Ryszard Skotkski.........z Ryszard Skotkski ......there are are a few things that mean by

RL

Maybe I missed what was said above. If so I apologize as Polish is not the easiest language but I have no choice as I will be there in the fall. My wife can speak the language but her grammar really is questionable that is why I have turned here....it is by far the best site for anything for Poland. The Canadian housing market is about to take a major nose dive. I have completely redone my house for sale this spring. I understand the nature of the Polish real estate market as it still has further to go in its correction. My charting analysis pinpoints late in the fall of 2015 for a bottom to 2001/2002 levels. I am lucky in that my wife has family in the Warsaw area that actually own real estate that we will rent next to nothing. Dziękule na czy ..still probably wrong......lub ja wiem that as long as I keep trying it will come so any help with Polish is appreciated.

What I am looking is to put my name on the bottom of a presentation that says "Done by Ryszard Scott".....this can't that be that hard......to be honest English is easier. If I am can get the help needed to get through this next period of my life I will gladly offer up any knowledge of the transition in the future. What is nice (piękny) is that if this website did not exist to help people in many different topic areas, there really would be no place to go with regards to what is currently happening in Poland. I am greatful even though I know the journey ahead of me is one that mój żona considers trudny. Me on the other hand look at it a little differently. I just turned 50, so I tell her that I have no problem going but I am not coming back.........I see the day when Poles will return home enmass because the West ( aka developed countries) is falling apart. I do not see Poland taking the Euro and as result the economy will actually become stronger in the years ahead. Anyone living in a developed country who decides to retire in Poland in the years ahead will do very well.

So any help that people can people can me give now I will return later. This is grateful heart who understands that the help from others in one period of time may make a contribution during another period of time to give back is essentially what life is really about. It really is about helping. We go through different periods in life where we both give and take but understand the meaning of both........My father once told me that if I am able to help someone in my life time to really achieve something even though I may have been only a piece of the total I have made a contribution but he also said that there will be periods during your life where your will need to seek out the help of others. Just remember that there are two sides of the fence taking and giving....and it only works that after a period taking one has to have a period of giving and visa versa.

My heart really is with this board at the moment during my time of need..........but also realizes the giving back tha will be needed in the future to continue to help that site flourish. God has given me my gifts in life...I need to learn from a teacher but when the time come need to be the teacher in a humble state so pupils can learn. So your help going forth will be very much appreciated....as I realize that once my journey to Poland stabilizes I will be in position to to give back....Very good site...Proszę nie czy lose it soon.....still learning

Real Estate / The current property boom in Poland is a bubble [342]

The system is well-understood by most economists.

This is exactly they way bubble bursts. The psychological has to pop for the market to find a bottom. The people who understand this will then swoop in an make a killing.

Real Estate / The current property boom in Poland is a bubble [342]

When prices rise very quick over a period of time outside of normal parameters people consider this to be a bubble as there is mopre buyers than sellers. Once the bubble or rise changes trend to a downwards motion one of two things can happen: If buyers exit enmass then we have a crash but if there are other factors such some mentioned in this thread such as the current owners holding prices/monthly rents while their flats etc are empty, then people who want to rent or buy begin to wait as they realize that the psychological bubble will eventually burst. This can happen gradually as we have been seeing since the top. A 30% haircut would clean the market up and allow it to start fresh.......so it is the after affects of the major rise or busrting of a bubble.

Typically what goes up must come down. I have using charts for years. There is still a drop in prices to come but the bottom should be in late 2015 based upon current projections. They are pointing to 2002 levels but like everything else in life it could be lower or higher. We shall see. My work is not based on statisitics but charts.

Law / Bank accounts taxed by up to 10%. Can it happen in Poland? [150]

This is the beginning of the Eurozone meltdown part 2 over the year and a little bit.
Most likely we will see a run on the banks in the countries mentioned above into the US dollar.
This will cause the USD to rise as the Euro drops in value.
The thing to watch is how this will affect gold and silver.
In the past gold and silver went up as the USD went down.
It is highly suggestive that they should go down unless there vengeance from Russia towards the West for Cypres.
This should be one more reason for the government of Poland no to take the Euro.

It will be very interesting.

Study / British Council for Celta, Warsaw [8]

I understand that BC offers the CELTA in Warsaw. I was thinking of taking it there. I do realize the instructors are what make the difference in the end. Does anyone know if the BC in Warsaw is just as good as the one Krakow? As much as I would like to take the BC course in Krakow it just might be feasible but I will look into it.

I would like to thank everyone for their input as it is extremely helpful. If anyone else has any further interesting comments to add, please do as people in the future will reading what has been written .

Kindest regards,

Rich

Study / British Council for Celta, Warsaw [8]

Can anyone tell me why they are so expensive compared to the others. I would love hear others experience in dealing with them compared to the restin obtaining their CELTA, their reputuation in the community and any help they might provide to find available work along with associated wages.

I will be moving to Warsaw late next year. BC came highly recommended to get my CELTA even though I can get it at Bell and International House.

News / Is it true that the Polish has signed to take on the Euro in 2015? [12]

Thanks all for your reply, I think that this is going to a major mistake if Poland adopts the Euro. Not only will it lose its competitive manufacturing advantage the price of everything will go through the roof. The next few years are going to see devaluation of the major currencies Euro, USD, GBP JY etc as the nation's with large debt try inflate it away. Poland would do very well not to take it on. Has Tusk scheduled a refendum of the people?

Love / Polish mother, possible UK father - child law Poland. [35]

Very interesting situation. It is obvious that she has a hidden agenda. The question really still comes down to whether the baby is yours or not. If the baby is with someone else she might be trying to trap for sure as the exchange on UK currency to PLN would be a nice payment. Looking at all the info that I have seen one thing sands clear and that was the fact the she wanted to get pregnant whether by you or someone else. Previous advice really stand true. sign nothing and have the test. The fact that she was cold when you visited suggests there is definitely more going on here then what meets the eye.

USA, Canada / Can a Canadian Female Drive in Poland?? [31]

I am a Canadian who has driven in poland several times. Each I got the IDL through CAA here in Canada. Was pulled over once for not having my day lights on. My wife who is Polish explained things. There was another time when it was just a routine check from driving while impaired. I will say that in case the officer said to my wife it was that we had the IDL as I would have been given a ticket. If you want to risk problems that is your choice but it is something that I unnecessarily avoid. As for driving, there are idiots over there as well as anywhere else. The younger ones tend to be more speedy but I find this in most places. Overall driver are respectful outside the cities. I found Warsaw a little crazy but took my time and got to where I was going in every case. After the first time my driving became better due familiarity of roads etc.
