Language / how to say "on" in this case? [3]

how is "on" said in this sentence:

"she is on fire"

i know it must be a stupid question, but my mind is stumped on it.
the girl is NOT "on" the fire, but, instead, "in" the fire, so how would you say this sentence?

Language / which one sounds better? widziałem/zobaczyłem [30]

today, i saw my friend (female):

1) dzisiaj widziałem moją przyjaciółkę

or

2) dzisiaj zobaczyłem moją przyjaciółkę.

okay, so i know the first is progressive and the latter is perfective, so literally it's "today, i was seeing my friend" and "today, i have seen my friend", but i am just confused about which to use. when i saw my friend, i told her happy birthday and asked how her knew school is, so i assume i would use progressive; but since i put to"today" denoting the action has ended and is now over, wouldn't it be perfective?

are both usable? or do they have different meanings by changing the aspct of the verb? if so what would they both mean?

History / Seen "teutonic" in my history book and i was just wondering what it was? [4]

okay so just heard of this "teutonoic p....." in my histroy book and i was just wondering what it was. in my class, we aren't learning about them, we are learning about the renaissance and in a map on the page, i saw the "poliand lithuanian kingdom/commonwhealth" where belarus and west ukraine and south poland should be, and the "teutonic p..." where most of poland and all of the baltic states should be. why is the "TEUTONIC P.." no longer a country and why is poland and lithuania not where the poland lithuanian commonewhealth was?

wikipedia says, or as what i tried to understand from it says, that this teutonic p... is actually germany. if true, why not call it germany?

Language / Do twoja kieszeni odkładaj koki! - am I saying it right? [8]

you are amazing :)

i swear to god, you helped a lot. most people just correct the sentence for me and i have to figure out why i got it wrong, but you actually got in depth with it, and it makes much more sense to me.

again, thankyou so much!

Language / Do twoja kieszeni odkładaj koki! - am I saying it right? [8]

okay, so i am trying to say: "put the coke in your pocket!" (don't worry i don't use coke)

Do twoja kieszeni odkładaj koki!

i used odkładać for the verb "put" and i just guessed on what the imperative is.
i also changed the sentence around, becuase i commonly see location first, then action in polish.

please tell me if i got this right, and please correct if i got this wrong!

Language / Collection of learning resources for learning the Polish language [129]

any good polish language learning books?

okay, so i read similar questions like these before and many people said good things about "hurra po polsku" and "lonley planet polish"

so i started reading about these, and an a costumer's review, he said hurra po polsku is all in polish; is that true?
if i were to buy it, would i have bought something usless to me?
also these "a1s" and "a2s" keep popping up, what are they and is there any series that goes up to the highest?

i can read in spanish, so if there's any spanish-polish book that's really good, please put that up

and the "lomely planet" how does that teach polish"? is it any good?

if you have any other books, please tell me and post how they teach the language too

and please do not put up any pdf files, because i just want an all natural book.

Language / how to say drum in polish? [7]

okay so i am a little confused about this because two of my friends told me different things. i wrote this to them:

gram na bębnom,

my friend monica understood it, but next period, i showed it to my friend bart, who started laughing, and said it should be:

gram na bębonki (or something that sounded like that)

i was really confused, and i still am, so could you guys give me some in sight on this?

Study / What subjects are taught as general ed in average Polish highschools? [8]

okay, so this is probably going to be removed, but i am new to this website and i do not really know where this one should go. in fact this is my first question (or post) so before you guys remove this could you guys tell me where this question should go? thanks if you do

___________________________________________________________________

here's my question:

what subjects are taught as general ed in average polish highschools?

like, where i live, i have: algebra 2, gym, (modern world) history, lunch, band, religion, biology, spanish, and english. (i know this seems confusing, but at my school you can switch lunch with band and everybody has religion the second half of their lunch period)

also, how would you say these subjects in polish? (for asking that question do i have to go to the "translations forum"?)

dzienki :)
