Life / Polish movies with English subtitles [87]

Hey,
could any of you share English subtitles to ANY of Polish movies? Even if I have original copy, the are not translated. Now, if I buy in a shop, I often choose by the fact if they have subtitles or not, but generally, I have CDs from newspapers.

Yes, I have some favorite films, but to many to write titles (I'll just mention some in the end), and I know it's hard get subtitles. So I'd be happy with any- than it's easier to find, buy or download a film.

Sztuczki
Seksmisja
Pieniądze to nie wszystko
Róża
but these are just some, of course- as I said, I'll be happy with any help :)

Language / Dzbanecznik as a synonym of alcohol? [10]

I've also heard "zalać robaka" and "topić smutki w alkoholu". It refers to drinking because of problems, of course to ease them, but the relief is on metnioned in those phrases, so that's probably not what you are looking for.

I think "trunek" is the best guess. There can also be "napitek".
Dinking "event" ;)- "popijawa", "pijatyka", "libacja". The two last, when it's really bad, hard party.

Travel / Polski Bus experiences in Poland? [17]

I travelled with PolskiBus in Poland, and also to other countries. The prise is really good, buses are new and clean. Much better than PKS. Train is always more comfortable (if it's clean, which is not obvious in Poland) and goes much faster. Anyway- I will take PolskiBus in future again.

Love / How i can make a relationship with a Polish girl? [20]

It always makes my laugh when someone recommends Japanese partners since I hate Japan :P But I know, there is a lot of people crazy about all the things about it :)

Cant say much about Polish girls. It's nice to hear that we are pretty and nice (im not a good example, especially of the second thing ;) but are we really so different from other nations? Beauty is question of taste, for me Slav girls are pretty but i guess we are quite difficult to live with. The culture and tradition influence our character, the way we think and react- but as in any other society- everyone it different.

Sounds really funny when someone says "i want polish girlfriend" :P

Language / "to believe is to see?" - Getting a Tattoo in Polish and Want Proper Grammar! [30]

To be honest- "wierzyć to widzieć", however is grammatically correct, does not make any sense in Polish.
The expression "seeing is believing" or "to believe is to see" sounds: "zobaczyć to uwierzyć". But that means something like, that only seeing something through your own eyes can make you believe. Not what you want

Nope I mean once you believe it, you'll see it.

Than I'd recommend "wierzyć to wiedzieć" (to believe is to know/believing is knowing) but still i would not be clear. Maybe "wiara to wiedza" (faith is knowledge) but is sounds very religious. There is no proverb like that, and nobody says like that. So maybe explain more, what you really want to tell with this tattoo- personally- I dont get it.

"Widać" can be explained as "visible", but visible as an adjective should be "widoczny" (in male form, singular), and "widać" is a verb. Haha, the Polish vitrual dictionary even says, that use in sense of "visible" is incorrect, and can only be used as a conclusion, ex: widać nie dałaś z siebie wszytkiego i nie wyszło- Hm... so the colclusion is that you didnt do your best, so it didnt work.
