Genealogy / Searching for Dawids and Deptułas in Kadzidło parish [12]

What luck! I was looking for something else in my junk mailbox or I would have missed the notice of your message entirely!

I'm interested in whatever you have...we should compare notes about available research databases. I've written to the parish and been told the records were destroyed; I wonder if you have any resources I don't know about? I haven't yet tried the LDS other than using familysearch.org.

Tell me about Jeglijowiec! What is it like? It looks like not much more than a crossroads according to google maps.

From what I can piece together, my great grandfather Walenty had siblings named Antonina, Mary and Josef, but I don't have any birthdates or further information about them.

Write back!

Genealogy / Searching for Dawids and Deptułas in Kadzidło parish [12]

Thanks for catching that mistake! I've run into a dead end, and I'm hoping that one of those 8081 Dawid/Deptuła relatives might check this site and give me another angle to try.

Genealogy / Searching for Dawids and Deptułas in Kadzidło parish [12]

I've tried the parish records but apparently they were destroyed during the war. If there's anyone out these with the last name of Dawid or Deptuła, I'm looking for my ancestors. My great-grandfather was Walenty Dawid and came over from Jaglijowiec in 1907. His parents were Jozef Dawid and Rosalia Deptuła. He also had a cousin named Stanislaw who came over in 1912, whose wife was named Antonina.

Is there anyone out there to whom these names sound familiar? I'd love to meet our distant relatives when I'm there next month!

Genealogy / Piasta relatives from Gibalka, Pajka from Ostroleka [14]

pgsa.org/database/PolishMap1907_results.php

Try searching this database and map from 1907. On my great-grandfather's WWII draft card, he had written that he was from "Yagleovat, Poland". I figured that that was written phonetically, so I started looking at possible towns and came up with Jeglijowiec.

Here's a list of towns: rootsweb.ancestry.com/~polwgw/towns.html#j

I bet your town might actually be Kobyłka.

Check if you can get a better spelling of it on the ship's passenger lists.
