UK, Ireland / My dream about UK. Please help. [86]

I have a great sense of humour

A noble gas joined a football team. Unfortunately, he had no chemistry with the other players.
If that doesn't make you laugh, you have no sense of humour.

well that was a bit silly.....

One does not simply refuse ice cream.

Be careful where you shop in London. I had to pay £5 for a little tub of ice-cream. Rip-off!

Language / Polish case question (Mężczyzna jest zimno? or Dziewczyna jest zimno?) [70]

I will never throw in the towel, as long as bread remains chleb.
I'm unable to really start yet due to my exams in a few weeks; but after that, I've got a whole summer of doing nothing! :) I'll make a journey to the book shop to buy a Polish learning book.

Life / Why is circumcision not practiced in Poland? [701]

Seems quite pointless.

Why is it that Poland seems like such a backwards country? It's disgusting that most Polish men are uncircumcised. Medical science has proven the health benefits of circumcision yet Poles refuse to practice it?

Backwards?

Would you rather risk having foreskin or chop it off?

Life / Do Polish names generally have a meaning to them or a particular structure?. [88]

What is the gender and social class of your character?

Female and middle class

I can see that you're a man who doesn't believe in searching the forum for information or gives any thought for a good thread title. There are 93 pages on Polish surnames here

Yeah, Noobs in forums tend to have a knack at missing things like this. Thankyou, very helpful indeed.

Life / Do Polish names generally have a meaning to them or a particular structure?. [88]

Hello everybody! This is my first ever thread, so go easy on me!

Basically, I'm planning on writing a book in years to come and one of the characters happens to have Polish descent. I want to give her a Polish last name but I have no idea! All I need to know is if Polish names generally have a meaning to them or a particular structure. I'll be very grateful for any replies.

That is all!

Do widzenia!!!

Gosh, gosh, British families, wake up, I am here, your future nanny and au-pair and childminder and cleaner, ironer in one, hire me, please, I wait for it.

Hope you find a good family to work with! Some could do with ironing themselves.

Love / Do Irish / British guys like Polish girls? [138]

I think it is quite common for people to be attracted to people of other countries, so I would say yes to the first question.

And on the British people themselves... Let's just say, I dislike the majority of them. There are a few nice people, but there a lot of a**-h*l*s in the country.

Language / "Widzę stół"- Trying to learn Polish [14]

To your Polish friends or to other friends?

My normal friends; they don't have a clue what I'm saying. In fact, they think I'm speaking Norwegian.

There's only one Polish guy in our year and I really don't imagine us having a friendly conversation in Polish.

Love / Polish women and foreign men [76]

Maybe they want change; different cultures can be most... interesting.

I for one dislike my own country, England. The people are annoying and care more about popularity than their own good. Then again, I am weird.

Language / Need some Polish language help.....with a twist! [39]

Yeah, I'm trying to learn Polish too. I'm hoping to buy a book or something to aid myself.

Let me tell you about my Chinese friend who came to England about four years ago and can now speak it perfectly. He got an A in our English exam this year, beating most of the school. : 0 He says that all he did was read English books and watch English TV, and it slowly came to him.

As for me, I'm ever so slowly getting there. Ja chcę mieć chleb

Language / "Widzę stół"- Trying to learn Polish [14]

^^ Yeah, that's the best way to remember for me. Using it in every day language. Sometimes I say stuff in polish to my friends and they think I'm crazy(er).

Me too.

Whenever I see my profile name, I see the word 'Chleb'. Sadly, this only helps me learn one word in the language.

Travel / Is Poland's Wroclaw zoo worth visiting? [17]

Ah, good that the animal's living conditions have been improved. Just remember that they are living things and not just entertainment.

Have a smashing time!
