Work / Poland Work Permit / Study Visa Processing Times [191]

Merged: Waiting for Work Permit, how long to get Poland's Visa?

Hey Everyone!

I have a work permit/visa question. But I will give you some history before I ask.

I am a student here in Poland. I am American and I have been living here for 3 years. I have completed all of my classes and I'm now working on my Masters thesis. 2 months ago, I went on an interview and I was offered a job. My new boss said that because of the work permit that my starting date would be around the beginning of November. After inititiating contact with my new boss twice in 2 months because I didn't hear anything back, human resources finally got to me about this. They just started to submit paperwork for the work permit (today) and said it will take 6-8 weeks (the official website said less than a month in most cases). Fine, I'm a little annoyed by the fact that it took so long, but fine. Human resources also said that after the work permit is processed, they would be sending me paperwork so that I can apply for a visa. I was a little surprised by this. I thought the work permit is enough?! And also I'm a bit nervous. This is because the only way I know to get a visa is to apply in your home country. Mine being the USA. The reason I applied for a job is because I need to work because I need money, which means I don't have enough to make a return trip to the US to apply for a visa.

Does anyone know if there's any way around this? Such as maybe going to a Polish consulate in a nearby country to get this visa, or mailing my passport to the consulate in the US to process it?

I would appreciate any input on this.

Thanks,

Zloty

Law / Polish Zloty rates 2011 [20]

I'm really paying close attention to this. As of now, it's $1 = 3.27zl. I wonder if the Zloty will get weaker or stronger. It's a pretty good time to exchange.

Work / Black English Teacher going to Wroclaw [247]

So you accept the use of polish women as sperm bags of third worldlers to justify the multi kulti dream? Why do you let such economic realities be forced upon you?It is not natural process.

OMG I can't stop laughing at this! LOL!!!!!

Southern, you're sooo not a natural process!

To the English teacher, I'd really like to know what's going on now! I just moved to Poland and I'm black too. I've caught people staring at me. I already expected that. Other than that, only the language barrier has been a problem. But then that's normal and will be corrected asap.
