Language / Give me some reasons to learn Polish [126]

Just pleasure and curiosity, that's all.

There wouldn't be any reason for learning new languages.

So don't ask yourself for reasons that make sense.

Maybe one day(just a simple assumption),

you will meet a Polish person. It would make you feel so good and improve your self-confidency to chat with him/her in Polish.

Travel / Booking train ticket for Warsaw [2]

Hello to all PolishForum.com residents,

I want to ask a question about booking train ticket.

I will go to the Warsawa from £ódź Fabrycna at September 4. I should arrive there nearly at 9 or 10 a.m because of my flight.

May I book a ticket for that time? Because it is a certain date and booking at this week would be cheaper.

If I can, how should I book? From website or train stations?

Dziękujemy za zainteresowanie!

Miłego dnia!

Travel / From Łódź to Auschwitz - route question. [20]

The trains from that area all call at £ódź Widzew.

Do you have any idea that £ódź Widzew is far from al. Politechniki? I stay in there.

Travel / From Łódź to Auschwitz - route question. [20]

I want to ask how can I arrive Auschwitz. I am newbie about routes and trains.

I will get on train at £ódź Fabryczana or Kaliska, but I do not know the rest - public transportation, trains etc.

What would be my main route to Auschwitz? I want to visit there.

And the prices, what would be total cost? Most of train websites are in Polish and do not have any info.

I am sorry, I realized that it was a complex question. But I hope, you understand me - visiting individually to Auschwitz from £ódź with minimum cost -.

Thank you very much for your interest!

Travel / Travelling from Berlin to Łódz [10]

So why you come to Poland, and for example not to Moldavia, Russia, Ukraine....?

I said it kindly, because i chosen Poland for my internship. First look at in dictionary what internship means.
After that, visit iaeste.pl/v2/ for more info.

By the way does it care you? I don't prefer travelling a lot, i said it will be my first travel abroad, but if there is some international IAESTE parties; i can use it, this is my right. Even you are a Polish ambassador, it does not care you.

Do you know anything about Poland, besides the fact you consider it an "easy" gateway to Schengen?

No and I do not need to know anything about Poland, because i will go there for internship, not for entertainment. Read my whole thread carefully. Also, I can enter most of European countries without schengen and any other visas, because i have a passport which is given to me and accepted generally in Europe.

Finally, I recommend you breaking stereotypes about non-European people who visits your country.

Travel / Travelling from Berlin to Łódz [10]

First of all, I am not an agent, sobieski :-D

There is an international organization called IAESTE. This provides internship opportunities in worldwide. I participated this(especially for my mandatory internship stage).

Why Poland? I don't have any "clear" idea, but i can say it is not obviously for schengen. I want to experience this in a technical university abroad. Also, between the options, Poland one suits for me(making image processing library for computers, i am computer engineering student.) But if I have enough time after work, i can make a trip in Europe, why not :-D

Thank you for reply. I will use charter one. Because train option is not certain in appearance and it must be booked about 2-3 weeks ago. Flight is clear to arrive. I think I can go to £ódz from airport in Warsaw with train.

Dzień dobry, moich znajomych! (Sorry for my bad Polish)

First of all; i am so happy, because my internship application has been accepted by Polytechnika £ódzka. I am so excited, because this is my first travel to abroad.

I will ask a question about arriving Warsaw. I hope I do not disturb you.

Direct flights are so expensive. So I will prefer two options to arrive Warsaw:

a. Train from Berlin
b. Charter flight between Istanbul, Lithuania and Warsaw.

Generally which one do you recommend to me? Train option is cheaper, but travel time is so long. There is no great gap between charter and train option for price.

Thank you for your recommends!

Study / Starting my internship in Łódź Technical University - should i learn Polish very well? [3]

Good evening to all members,

First of all, thanks all of you for your great contributions on this forum to help non-Polish people like me.

My question is about learning Polish.

If i could, i will start my internship in £ódź Technical University this summer. My English is well for basic dialogs and technical terms; but I've heard that a great percentage of people don't know English in there, even in the university.

Maybe it's true or not, what do you advise me? Should I learn only basic dialogs like "hello, how are you, my name is ..." , or should i really study polish as well as a 7-year-old Polish child? Especially answers from students of £ódź Technical University will enlighten me very much.

(Note: I'm so glad some threads in forum about Turkish people. As a Turkish citizen, thank you for your comments. I hope I will enjoy in £ódź, even in other cities.)

Dobry wieczór!
