As an Englishman(albeit white) living in Wroclaw, like a few others have said stay away from some of the rougher areas and groups of drunks sitting in the parks at night, having said that Wroclaw feels like a safe city and most of the hassle will be low level, the stares will be mostly curiosity..and as an American you have an edge, they love America here mostly..Play that up for all its worth.
