Genealogy / Information on family name, Krzycki [23]

Hi, I'm new here and doing research on my husband's family line.

His grandparents were Edward Stanley Krzycki and Victoria (Zulkoski) Krzycki.
His GGparents were Frank & Agnes (Szymowicz ??) Krzycki.

They lived in Elba, Nebraska and descendents moved to Farwell, St Paul & eventually Omaha.

I'm wondering if anybody has any information about the ancestors of these 3 lines:
Krzycki (Elba, Ne)
Zulkoski
Szymowicz

Since Edward Stanley Krzycki was born in 1898, I'm not sure if he is first generation or 2nd generation. Anybody have any idea how I can find out if his ancestors were in the U.S. or were in Poland? And how do I find out who they are.

Unfortunately all the elders in my husband's family have passed away.

Thank you for any suggestions. I've been checking several sites that require a fee; any suggestions which one would be more likely to have info on Polish ancestors?
