Work / Qualifications - Mgr Title on my business card? [17]

Hi all,

If I have a Master's degree (MSci) from a UK university, and move to Poland, can I use the title Mgr. on my business card, since it's an equivalent qualification?

Thanks

Work / Qualifications - Mgr Title on my business card? [17]

Thanks for the responses. I thought that a Magister was equivalent to a Master's, but if its only equivalent to a BSc at best then I needn't bother anyway!

Work / Qualifications - Mgr Title on my business card? [17]

I appreciate you looking for a relevant thread but I'd already read it! Maybe if I rephrase my question in simpler terms you'll see that my question wasn't answered in it. My question wasn't asking if a Master's degree and a Magister were the same. I had already, wrongly assumed that they were equivalent, but that wasn't the crux of the question. The answer that I was after was regarding the use of the pre-nominal title "Mgr" and specifically, whether the use of the title was restricted to those who had achieved a Polish Magister qualification, or whether a holder of a UK Master's degree, as an equivalent (or better) qualification, could aptly use the title on, for instance, a CV or business card.

My apologies if I've missed the answer to that question in the thread that you just linked to. I can't seem to see it. Perhaps you could quote it?

Work / International House - Kracow school - any chances of being offered a job there [59]

Merged: International House Krakow

Hi all,

I was just about to apply to do a CELTA at IH Krakow, then noticed that the school has been "disaffiliated" by International House and the Cambridge website no longer lists the CELTA as being available in Krakow. Despite this you can still apply for it on the IH Krakow website. Does anyone know anything about this, and if IH Krakow is likely to be back?

And if not, does anyone have any experiences with CELTA at IH Wroclaw?

Thanks

Hey Rich,
Did ya enrol at IH Krakow? I'm having the same dilemma.
Are there any past students who can advise? Any recent students?

I didn't end up enrolling there because of this problem. International House HQ in London confirmed that they had been disaffiliated, Cambridge aren't returning my emails, but "IH" Krakow are still saying that they're planning to run the summer courses, so perhaps they'll resolve any problems with Cambridge by then. At the moment I'm not taking any chances and I'm applying to IH Wroclaw instead. Wroclaw does seem to have a better reputation anyway.

Work / No English Speaking Jobs in Poland...At All? [34]

Hi folks. I'm coming to Poland in July, initially to complete a CELTA course and attempt to find jobs teaching English. I know this is a long shot, but I also have a Master's degree in Chemistry from the UK, so if anyone has any job ideas for a non-Polish speaker (willing to learn) in the Krakow area that would make use of my degree, then I'd be grateful. Thanks.

Work / Private teaching and Polish law [4]

Hi all,

In order to teach private English lessons in Poland, which I'm planning to do for a year (I'm qualified!) is it legally necessary for me to register as a sole-trader, or can I just go ahead and start teaching and pay my tax back in the UK?

Thanks
Richard

Okay, thanks for the advice. Is there anyone here in a similar position who has been through the process of registering as a sole trader? Was it difficult?
