History / Do Polish people in general dislike Russia or Germany more? [369]

I was born in England and my father was Polish, born in Upper Silesia. He fought in the Polish army in 1939. Later both he and his brother were conscripted into the German army. He would have agreed with your wife.

Kind regards .Michael emil Besta.

I live in the USA but my father was born in Upper Silesia. His father was born in what was then called Breslau. My last name is Besta ,does anybody have any input on the origination of this name as it does not seem typically Polish ? Is this a common Silesian name ? Thank you in advance for any information. History / 1939-1945 British war medal awarded to Polish Soldiers.Waiting to be delivered!! [32]

Today I received a medal that was awarded to my father for his service with the Polish second corp attached to the British 8th army in Italy. The point of this post is if your father at some point between 1939-1945 was a Polish Soldier who served with the British during or at the end of the war he or you may be entitled to receive a war medal as I did today.

Contact the Polish Department of the Ministry of Defense, Northolt, Middlesex, England.

UK, Ireland / Polish immigration in UK [491]

In the 70's many Brits went to Germany to work,as I did. Those Brits that worked in Germany may be the same people ******** about the Polish now.Look around the world and do some research of how many Brits work in other countries for whatever reason.I wonder if there are forums ******** about them taking jobs. Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose!.

Some comments regarding foreigners remind me of another time.It seems we haven't learnt much or we have forgotten, or we don't care ...
