Life / Feeling ashamed of my Polish heritage. [237]

Start with The Polish Way by Adam Zamoyski.

Also add "God's Playground" and "Rising '44" to that list, both by Norman Davies.

Osprey Military also has a number of books on Polish military history from all eras.

What are you talking about? I don't see it. You should seek some counseling for your depression/self-loathing/painful rectal itch.

Why are you such a wet blanket? You appear to me to be either mentally ill or just a mis-educated fool. You sound like cancer to me. Get some chemo before you spread

diting your post then spewing another lame insult? There really is nothing new on the internet is there?

This is just the kind of talk that shames Poles and gives bad vibes.

And we wonder why this man is ashamed of his heritage. XD

Every country, whether in western or eastern europe has had its glory moments and its "pathetic" moments and Poland is no different. Its not a crime to disagree with the way your country is run or what state it is in. I'm Polish (born and live in Canada) and I dream of the day I can return to make my country better (as naive as that may sound). I'm not going to antagonize you for being ashamed of your heritage, although I strongly disagree with your feelings. You mention your firends of all these different nationalities. Look at the Greeks, they, like Poland, had their glory days in ancient times, but now their economy is in the s***er and they're begging for handouts. The Swedes fought with Poland on a number of different occasions, with more losses than victories. In the 17th century (and 18th century if I'm not mistaken) the fashion of the women of France was heavily influenced by the styles of Polish womens' fashion; during the Napoleonic Wars, the best troops argueably came from Poland (namely the cavalry, dragoons I believe they were called). A lot of western nations owe something to Poland, and vice versa.

I recommend you read about our history. I think you will be quite surprised with the things we have to be proud of.

Cheers,

Nowak
