Study / Moving to Warsaw for graduate school- need advice on relocation [10]

Look in the district of Ursynow, it is well connected to the metro. Also good for shops, cafes, cinema etc. There has been a lot of new building their, it is occupied by families and it feels safe.

Expect to spend 2000 pln (500 euro) per month (+ bills) for a decent 1 or 2 bedroom apartment

try searching gumtree.pl or these forums for accomodation.

Study / AFRICAN STUDENTS INVASION in Krakow [197]

How come? Foreign nationals from a EU country can vote in EU and local elections but not in national, presidential or referndums.

Jarinowa seems to think that he has more right to be in Poland than others because he is white. This does not make it an issue of immigration but racisim

No such thing as a 'Eu Citizen' You can live and work in Poland but you can't vote or be elected into office in Poland or any other country but Belgium. You also can;t hold a Polish passport

Therefore you have no right to object to Poland's immigration policy. Anyone entering Poland from outside the EU does not have the right to live or work in any other EU member country, so Polands policy is Poland's alone in this respect and absolutly nothing to do with you

No point in arguing with Jarnowa

He has a closed racist mind and a huge chip on his shoulder. Ironically he is not even Polish (he is from Belgium) but the way he bangs on about it, you would think he owns the place

Real Estate / Poland house prices recovered faster - Summary of 2010 [89]

Ok for the benefit of Milky and peterweg a Ponzi scheme is....

A type of fraud that uses money from new investors to pay off earlier investors, while promising high rates of return. Ponzi schemes generally unravel when the pool of new investors dries up.

Whether you think property in Poland is overvalued or undervalued, the Polish proerty market is NOT a ponzi scheme.

Law / Buying a USED CAR in Poland, my personal experiences and TRAPS to avoid !! [133]

Lived in Poland in the 90's and 00's etc. Seen thousands of crashed cars from Germany, Holland, France etc...at the boarders trailered in for repairs. Would not buy a used car in Poland (overpriced crashed damaged heaps)

However lots of ex-fleet cars now might make an attractive buy if you know the history. Better to go to Germany though. buyer beware

News / John Godson, born in Nigeria, might become Poland Sejm's first black deputy! [313]

Why have all these leftwing radicals problems reading?

Not leftwing nor radical. Would rarther share a country, neighbourhood, taxi, conversation etc... with John Godson than you. Also there is likley to be lots that I disagree with him, in particular his strong religious beliefs (I am athiest), However I still would have a lot more to talk to him about then you! Jarnowa the total zero you are.

Nasty little racist you are. He has integrated in to and contributed to Polish society. You sit writing your racist poison because you are a loser and a failure in life and you know that so you bleat on about preceived European cultural superiority which you have contributed nothing to and which anyway is an illusion.

In the end of the day John Godson will make Poland a better because of the hard work he has done. You have contributed nothing and benefited no one.

News / Polish Jesuits created a Facebook site for non-believers. Atheists not a total waste? [70]

Since nobody can either prove or disprove God's existence..

However you can also argue for the existance of an invisible purple unicorn god or the flying spagetti monster god because you can not disprove the existence of them either. The point is that there is no evidence of the existance of a judo-christian god.

Perhaps you are the one being arrogant for attacking those who do not blindly follow your faith even there is not one iota of logic, reason or evidence that supports it

But how can you conclude there is no God if you look into the eyes of a child or gaze at the beauty of nature?

Funny how 'God' seems to kill children indiscriminately when it suits him. I assume that if you consider 'him' to be a creator then 'he' is responsible for the creation of illnesses such as tuberculosis, polio, smallpox, malaria, influenza, cancer, typhoid, as well as a host of other diseases. No doubt he also created large scale natrual disaters that often prey on the weakest / least fortunate members of society.

Also I have never had a Christian able to explain to me who oe what created God

Real Estate / Warsaw life, flat rate for rent, is it worth to live there? [10]

1700 is a little high, you can do better than that, or if you pay that you can at least have a better location (not that Old Praga is bad, just that for 1700 you could be in the very center of the city).

In a modern secured block, full mod cons and a 10 minute walk (or 2 tram stops) to Stary Miasto -well worth the money and I have never had any problems renting it out at this price.

Real Estate / Buying a flat in Krakow; prices are still falling? [200]

No

Bought studio flats in Warsaw 6 years ago. Rent I get for one I leases last week is 1700 per month (plus bills)

Yield 7-8% can't see prices falling as the yield would be too attractive.

UK, Ireland / British considering our options, as to where to live with my Polish fiance? [12]

In the process of divorcing my Polish wife. She will never move from Krakow. I am working in the UK. Previously I worked as an English teacher and unlike most on the forum I also had a well paid job for a blue chip company (in the days when foreign bosses recruited other foriegners)

Doubt that there is much now, and while you will get work as an English teacher (like I did) the novelty of the job and Poland wears off.

Some foreigners thrive in Poland (and they thrive anywhere) but by living in Poland you will not make things easier for yourself.

My advice -stay in the UK and enjoy Poland in the holidays

Real Estate / Warsaw life, flat rate for rent, is it worth to live there? [10]

I just rented out my studio flat for 1700 pln/month plus bills, in Old Praga, on the other side of the river to the old town

Old town, Centrum, Mokotow, Ursynow are nice places with good transport

UK, Ireland / UK Sky TV in Poland [39]

Cosmos and all,

ITV (think south yorkshire) C4 and C4+1 broadcast on ASTRA C and B. You will need to get the settings and access them through 'other channels' and not the EPG. Try this link and also google for the settings cause I dont have them on me. But I do watch ITV and Channel 4 on a standard 80cm dish (not a 3m job!) when I am in poland
