We had an Old church book added in on My heritage.com Has names back to the 1600's now that link to Schikora and Krowiorz..the book was from Trembatschau.

I am looking for info on Schikora born from 1890 to about 1910 in this area. I know them lived on a ranch near this town.

Yes I know it was german but I think the town is still there and there must be a church. And I am sure i have the new name right.

Brzezia Laka, Wroclawski, Dolnoslaskie, Poland .. about 15km east of Wroclaw.

I am looking for records from 1890 to 1920. My great grandfather was a ranch forman in this area. And had about 10 kids who I am sure were born here but it would be nice to have records.

Good point it is..but it is independed from France and England for the most part. And the true natives are gaining ground slowly.

But wasn't there a referendum once already? Who would vote in the new referendum? Only the people living there now, or also the the people who were forced to move out? (not many still alive so maybe there children could vote?) After all if you have past family born in Silesia back to the 1700's or earlier, I think there should be some kind of rights for this. Not only german Silesian were force to move after the war but also germanized poles (and what is a germanized pole. 1/2 geramn 1/2 pole by marrage or a pole who learned to speak german?).

And Silesia is now in 3 parts by the way.

This boarder has moved so many times no one knows who's polish or whos german.
There is no way to tell what they felt like in 1800 unless you find a diary of day to day life.

May as well face it. You have a few Germanized Poles looking for where there families came from. And trying to learn why the world booted them from lands.

If Poland has a right to exist. I think Silesia should have a right to exist. The way it is now I need to draw on a map in pen to show younger people where there family was from.

They are not only in Germany. There are Silesian's around the the world watching. You can not just wipe a place off the map and hope everyone forgets it was there.

Are you that naive? If your country disappears from the map, you're taught in Polish at school, you're thaught Polish history from the Polish point of view, you have to speak in Polish to your classmates, pray in Polish at religion classes, deal in offices in Polish... In a second or third generation - how much there's left of your "Silesianess"?

In the 1880's Canada and the USA were giving out almost if not free land is why so many left europe.

Ooops but my mistake here not all ex silesia people are from germany now days many live in other countries and look back at what germany and poland has done to there lost Heritage.

I consider Silesia my Heritage before german or polish.

It is very easy to fix this..Germans buy western lands of poland then polish buy western land in russia and in 50 years we move the boarders back to pre 1946. And Silesia will be free again.

No point in asking for it back..It is easier to just buy it back bit by bit...LOL

In fact if Silesia was free again and called back the people who were frorced out..It would be one of the riches countries in the world.

All this talk of history is nice. But the seed for Silesia has always been there locked behind wall. But now the wall is gone and slowly the idea is growing stronger. It's only a matter of time.
