Its the latest report on asylum seekers, I wonder why! The failed Nigerian asylum seekers are still here, they should be deported with haste.

In 2001, there were 674,786 people in England (1.4 per cent of the population) who had been born in Ireland. This is the greatest concentration of Irish-born—as distinct from persons of Irish ancestry

Yes, BM , 1.4% percent of the population. Can you not see the difference? If Poles made up 1.4% of the Irish population, I wouldnt bat an eyelid.

Wiki is not very reliable, stop using it as I do not read the links. Use more reliable sources like a good man.

The single largest group of immigrants comes from the United Kingdom (112,548) followed by Poland (63,267), Lithuania (24,628), Nigeria (16,300), Latvia (13,319), the United States (12,475), China (11,161), and Germany (10,289).

The government itself admitted the census figures were wrong. They claim there are 200,000 Polish in Ireland. I dont believe there are over 100,000 British in Ireland for numerous reasons, but mainly this. The census was carried out at the weekend, when the majority of tourists come to Ireland. Who visits Ireland the most? The British. Everybody in the Irish state has to sign the census, even tourists in hotels. Trust me, I was the one knocking on doors for twelve hours trying to get them to fill out the forms.

So, Id knock 50,000 off the British figures. More like 70-80,000 British living in the RoI.

Oh, and by the way, there are 43,000 Polish on welfare in Ireland. If the census figure was true, only 20,000 of them would be in employment! We both know that isnt the case.

PS The Nigerian community claim there are 125,000 Nigerians in Ireland. The Chinese community claim there are upto 100,000 Chinese in Ireland. To sum it up, the census was a farce, the government said as much themselves.

Another thing RN, you know full well that the biggest minority of immigrants in Ireland are British but you go on and on about the Polish (the second biggest minority), what's that all about?

Bollocks. There are more Poles here than Brits. Unless you are including the 900,000 squatters up north into your calculations?

And have you any links stating how many Polish and British there are in Ireland?

Ireland received the second highest number of asylum applications in main industrialised countries from nationals of Nigeria in 2004. The recognition rate at first instance for 2004 is as follows:

Ireland 0.6%; Netherlands 0.6%; Austria 0.3%; Spain 0.1%

Less than 1%, therefore, of all Nigerian national asylum seekers succeed at first instance in the European Union member states that receive most Nigerian applications.

Americans travel a lot... but within the states...
they just don't do international traveling a lot...

Only 10-15% of Americans own a passport. Thats a fact.

I find American bashing quite absurd. Each and every european has a family member living in America. In fact, each european country has numerous illegals living in the states. If you are educated and have a bit of savvy about you, America is the best country to reside in.

Poles are here legally, they work for minimum wage, the illegals (at least in the UK) work for under that.

I cannot say the same here. Look up the Irish ferries and ESB disputes. Poles undercut the locals by working for less than the middle wage. Fairly common place.

Its their right to go and work in countries such as Britain and Ireland - as for wages, they work for (not in all cases) minimum wage, its illegal to employ someone for less than that. The only people you find working for less than that are illegal immigrants.

No. Skype is a dreadful platform for learning on - the quality can be very, very poor - and for language teaching, I would expect a dedicated platform, not something like Skype.

Skype is an excellent site. Must be your laptop or connection. Skype wouldnt be a danger to your business interests now would it?

I realize that there are not quite as many Polish people in Ireland now that the world economy has dropped, but I still thought it would make a great project

Other parts of Europe

No problems with western europeans immigrating to my country, as they do so in small numbers and it is reciprocal. Major problem with eastern europeans as the immigrate in massive numbers, swampping the country and undercutting and displacing the native working class. Putting major strain on the services of the country, whilst contributing little. The slum landlords and big business make the profits from this, while the working class pay the social costs.

I also have a major problem with "asylum seekers" as 99.4% of them have been refused asylum, but given leave to remain under humantarian grounds. Once they are in, they are in to stay. Once they are in, they need to housed, clothed, and fed for their natural lifes, all at the expense of the taxpayer. They have many, many government bodies and quangos to step in and scream raaaaycism if anybody dares to calls this charade for what it is, a farce. People like you.

You want them here, fine. You pay for them, you house them, you feed them, you dress them. You want to live in a multiculti utopia? Fine. You pay for it.
