I was only stating facts. My sentiment tells me Germans should stay out, by my brain tells me they should be allowed it. There has been enough bullcrap between the two nations.

Yes, you were. But it's not too bad, though. Actually, the trend goes the other way round ;)

As a German you would know.

Right. Well, I actually don't, because being brought up in a liberal and multi-cultural Western city obviously doesn't correspond to the experiences and values of the "real Germans" on your side of the Elbe. Well, good for you to have such secret knowledge the likes of me haven't been let in on. Problem is that no one else understands your esoteric.

No real German would call them "pseudo junker" or "noblemen" and at the same
time call himself "Elbprinz"! :):):)

Do you even reflect the words you write? Probably not. "No real German"? What's that supposed to mean? No real real East German or what? Are you the one to determine that? I don't think so! You apparently didn't understand the point, that's the problem. I was referring to an investor's individual gain, in other words their marginal utility (Grenznutzen) which could very well be fueled by their desire to tie in with their ancestors' past as "ostelbische Junker". However, for the contractor that's irrelevant and the investment may increase the surplus of the community.

Can you quote me?

Sorry, I meant the other guy and forgot to quote him correctly.

It may be silly, sentimental or economically suicidal but never underestimate the power of sentiment.

I see your point, but what would you suggest? It's a free market! Would you rather regulate it?

Yeah, as if you were displaying much common sense here! All you produce is cliché ridden crap. And worst of all: You enjoy being considered a kind of German authority here. That is so sick!

But I wouldn't be so sure about that

So what? Very few solvent people invest their money in run-down mansions in order to feel great playing noblemen. Being pseudo-junker is their marginal utility, the enterprise is probably financed through a local Polish bank and the hole thing benefits the local artisanry. If they must....

(and what does a wessi banker knows about such things anyhow)

I have a degree in political science.

"The Germans want your land, the Russians want your soul

Believe me, no one in their right mind wants your land. There's a bunch of senile and/or confused people who fantazise about lost property in Poznań or Śląsk, but that's gonna be solved biologically in at least one generation. The other Germans are more interested in real estates in sunnier regions :)

I'm so glad people like you are going to be pissed off

I really don't know, what world you're living in, but that's kind of typical for the likes of you "von drüben": Have one mediocre politician make one beefy populist remark that distracts from his cluelessness in the presence of the worst crisis since WW2 and y'all applaud, however toothless his threat is. But don't worry for my money: I'm a banker, I know my shit ;) That's why, in return, I'm so glad that people like you are so easily deceived...

Believe me Germany is behind him and all real honest, hard working people in the world too...

My God, man, you're so self-important that it hurts. Of course I tranfer my money to a Swiss or Lux bank account if it pays! And most people I know try to evade our high taxes (with the help of their local German banks, that is!), and certainly that's normal behaviour! Steinbrück is a joke!

And BTW, you seem to be the self-appointed expert for all things German on this forum. Well, let me tell you as a proud Hanseatic Northern German that Sokrates is morally right when he says

Germans fought to defend and further the single most evil regime this earth ever knew.

My grandfather was in Poland as a member of that immoral soldateska, and I'm NOT proud of it, and neither was he. He was sorry for what happened in his name. Your arguments are apologetic and embarrassing, and they belittle not only my grandfather's ruefulness but mainly the victims' sorrow.

On the ohter hand, you're not by any chance from East Germany? Ossie? That would explain a lot.....
