I think about culture in this case in terms of the arts!
Not about politics or societal structures .... I find French humor and temper more appealing to Polish soul. Not to mention folk music quite different, yet on some level similar in the aspect of expression?

Poles with education and culture before the war were using French at home as they second language - for example.

it should not make any difference whether its a Pole or and Englishman trying to enter the US, it is their decision and they should be able to decide whatever they like.

That the reason of my questioning visa policy of USA toward Poland!
I have no hidden agenda and I'm able to distinguish between government& people, I'm old enough to know that every country have its idiots, bastards and thugs as well as wise, great and wonderful people.

Unfortunately some Americans (!) are not able to view with suspicion federal government and scrutinize all its action & be very distrustful as to hidden motives and agendas.

Its really sad as foundation of American Constitution and what more Founding Fathers assumed that such scrutiny and distrust toward federal government will be constants among American Citizens.

Its seem that it is not true anymore as example of scrappy( sorry old man) has showed blind and limitless faith in USA federal government.

hang on just one second, Poland is not fighting in Americas wars, it is fighting in the worlds wars. There are more nations involved than just the states, anyway UK soldiers are being killed int he same war but were not knocking on the door of the states asking for re-funds are we!!!

UK has its own reasons and not that ancient tradition in meddling in the Worlds affairs:)
Poland only reason for military involvement is to help OUR Friend - as laughable it may sounds......

By the way I find on this forum plenty posts or threads not only criticizing Poland and Poles but also insulting them and slandering.

The US or any other country for that fact has a right to decide who and who does not have permission to enter their country. Surely that is one of the fundamental rights of a nation, to be able to select who and who does not come into the country. Sometimes i think the world is becoming to obsessed with this 'freedom to move' than is healthy.

The US is such an easy target for criticism because its usually the first nation to stand up and say 'i'm not taking this, i'm going to do something about it' The uS is criticised for everything from its foreign policy to its domestic laws. My point is:
USA have at the moment about 20 millions illegal immigrants from Latin America and Asia and Africa, so why bother about 2 , 3 or 5 millions potential immigrants from Poland?

Its my estimation of potential number of people from Poland who would given right circumstances try they luck in USA. You should remember that is worst case scenario and numbers are set at maximum.

Current policy of USA government seems to be set at build up anti-American sentiment in Poland - which almost not existed there before!
If Americans will blindly comply and defend their government every action they should not be surprised by consequences.

I don't approve of it if the girl was treated this way but they're extremely serious when then they say they will go after illegals here. (Especially after 9/11)

They have a 7 or 11 illegal Mexicans, wonder what they are doing about them?
Easier to pick on some girly to pretend that they are doing the job?

It should be noted that the US has the largest Polish diaspora in the world, and a great deal of the people there are proud of their Polish heritage. Any "discrimination" is largely imaginary, and the State Department's rules are not there to specifically restrict Poles.

The people that do the interviews at the embassy at trained to judge and evaluate the interviewees.

What if people in the embassy are biased because in the past Poles indeed overstayed their visas?

Look, I'm for removing visa restrictions.

For all I care USA government can keep those restrictions in place for ever.
All I want is for others to recognize that such restrictions are nothing more then political games and in a way it is discrimination of Poland.

Who cares? The US Gov't cares, for one. Certain benchmarks have to be met before the restrictions can be lifted.

Could you explain in plain English what is all about?
Because so far I understand that certain number of Polish citizens are refused visas to USA and based on the quota of those refusals US government is forming is visa policy?!

Its seems like a catch22 :)
Embassy in Warsaw should give more visas and problem is solved - question - why they refuse visas to so many people?
