Language / IS "MURZYN" word RACIST? [686]

OK, as a Murzynka, I don’t find the word derogatory. From my understanding, based on information from my numerous Polish friends, it is just the word used to describe someone like me.

The fact is, I am a black woman…..and if Murzynka is what it is in the Polish language, that is what it is……

I am aware that its’ meaning can change, depending on what words are used in conjunction with it.

Life / Poles are not racist [873]

Kilkline

It isnt a culture that most black adults follow and I think they actually despise it. They must get tired of seeing their children on the news as either victims or perpertrators of murders but at the same time they cant really voice their opinions as self criticism isnt their strong point.

I hate gang culture, most of youth culture to tell you the truth. You are spot on Kilkline, most black people abhor the behaviour of what the rest of the world perceives as the behaviour of the majority of blacks. I have nothing to do with people that take drugs, live gangland life styles; I wouldn’t give them the time of day. I certainly do not frequent their area or social hang outs, why would I.

I have never been in trouble with the police, never taken drugs, don’t carry a knife, never ever seen a gun (never want to either)

I am disgusted with the get rich quick without doing an honest days work attitude, however, there are black kids that have aspirations and are striving to achieve something positive, I know loads of them. Most of my friends went to university like me and are holding down decent jobs. When I was growing up there were people in my neighbourhood that involved themselves in criminal activity. I was brought up to work for the things that I wanted. I have since moved out of such neighbourhoods as I would not want to raise children in them, but this is me being responsible and trying to shape my future for the better…..it can be done!

The black community does voice its opinions and is critical of its youth, there are many initiatives set up in inner city areas to try and combat the every increasing wave of black on black violence and the lack of direction of some kids. Community groups have been set up who meet with the police on a regular basis to discuss and address these issues…..

But these schemes and initiatives are not known to people outside of the community….
