Work / Teach English or Swedish in Poland [16]

There are quite a lot of Poles who seek jobs in Sweden! I'm aquainted with two newly arrived families, none of them speak a word of Swedish and they regret not taking Swedish-classes before they left Poland. Also, my friend in Katowice told me about Poles wanting to learn Swedish. But as I don't live in Poland myself I don't know if there is such a high demand for it, that's why I posted this thread.

Life / Polish Tattoo (considered the eagle) [29]

I've got two "Polish" tattoos, the Armia Krajowa-anchor and a Pinup-girl in uniform, done in old school/traditional style with a banner that reads "Do Broni! W Szeregach A.K!" (To arms! In the trails/rows of A.K!")

Work / Teach English or Swedish in Poland [16]

I think the small, yet useful, advantage I might have against some of the native English speakers teaching English in Poland is being fluent in Polish. As you wrote, some habits are hard to kick, and talking English with a Swedish accent could be an obstacle for me and something I would not like to pass on to the pupils. But I think my knowledge of the Polish language could be of benefit for me :)

Also, knowing that many Poles are interested in Swedish culture and to try their luck abroad I would also like to teach Swedish.

Language / Optimal word order in: Czy dobrze się wczoraj bawiłaś? [22]

His forum-nick tipped me off - "SzwedwPolsce" = Swede in Poland ;)
Polish is actually my first language since both my parents are poles and I grew up speaking it. But I've been living in Sweden since birth and nowadays I concider Swedish to be my native language. Learned english and german in school.

Tack detsamma!

News / THE ARMY OF POLAND - THE REALITY [222]

I think we should take in concideration that no democratic republic throughout history has ever waged war against another. And since Poland is a member of both NATO and the European Union there is no direct threat to it's sovereignty.

Thanks for the reply! I'll look around and try to get in touch with some schools.
I'm also interested in teaching swedish to adults, what's the situation in Poland regarding evening classes and/or small study-circles?

Language / Optimal word order in: Czy dobrze się wczoraj bawiłaś? [22]

Det var inget fel på ordföljden i sig, men om meningen inte placeras i ett sammanhang har den en lite FÖR interrogativ ton.

av ditt användarnamn att döma gissar jag på att du talar svenska ;)

Work / Teach English or Swedish in Poland [16]

How does one go about? I've heard there's quite a demand for teachers of these two languages in Poland, is this true? I bet this has been posted on this forum before, but I couldn't quite find the answers I was looking for. I'm a student of Pedagogy in Sweden and speak English, Swedish and Polish fluently, I think working in Poland, for at least a year or so could be a useful experience for me.

Life / Any "wet" plans for Śmigus-dyngus? [11]

I remember my cousins dragging a garden hose from their backdoor into the neighbours kitchen window and then turning the faucet on to max. It went wild in their kitchen and EVERYTHING (and everyone) got soaked. But there were no frowns afterwards. After all, it was Śmigus-dyngus.

I live in Sweden, but I'm trying to keep the tradition alive. I'm at my mothers house now, visiting for the holidays. Planning on setting the alarm clock to an ungodly hour tomorrow and giving her a watery wake-up!

Any of you planning any Śmigus Dyngus-schemes?

Food / Barszcz czerwony recipe (Beetroot Soup) [48]

I'm rather fond of the "sour" soups, like Zupa Sztawiowa, Ogórkowa and Żurek.
(My mom used to cook the greatest Żurek<3)
