Life / I suggest a new Poland with gay marriage with universal recognition/passport etc [36]

I was partly inspired by MareGaee's thread titled "I suggest a new location for Poland" and partly inspired that there is some people who are obsessed, some thinking ethnic Poles=Slavic, but this is not fact.

This is my idea of a NEW Poland (ie. this is not a proposition of changes to be made in Poland, but a completely new Poland in fantasy, with its own different history & so on, except for the same borders & neighbors)

it would be perfect if Poland was not Slavic but like Romania - Romans (whatis the word....) ie. trade the ethnicity of Poland by replacing it with Polonians , and make Romania - Rumunovo a homogeneous Slavic nation . also this Polonia would have 68% Polonians, 18% Russians, Belarussians, Ukrainians , 8% Germans and 6% Other(mainly Roma/Gypsies, Jews, Moslems. make also the ethnic Polonians 50% Lutheran, 30% non religious, 20% Other(eg. pagan, jehovah's witness, catholic, anglican, protestant)

make it also not a part of EU; because everyone would hate us so much and we wouldnt like the others either, but a part of NATO and the EEC so it wouldnt be poorer than todays Poland. 3 Official languages; Polonian, Russian, German

schooling for each ethnic group up to & incl. of secondary schooling in their own languages; German, Russian, Belarussian, Ukrainian, Roma, Jewish, Moslem

the Germans would mostly inhabit what is currently Lower and Upper Silesia - as an autonomous German speaking voivedship with Vroclava(Breslau) being the capital.

The ethnic Polonians would be physically no different to present day Sicilians or Greek Cypriots; or make that... identical to present day Sardinians and the language would be something like portugese.

Polonia would have as the only country in Europe legalised Gay marriage and could use Gay marriage to obtain Polonian citizenship. Drug laws would be the harshest in Europe comparable to singapores 10 year for possession of any drug, 2 year for being intoxicated with a banned substance, Death penalty for trafficking/importing/producing.

Even though the country overall seems liberall with Ethnicity tolerance, there would be official registration of Mixed race people- known as coloureds, and the coloured communitys would have to live in designated areas of countryside/town/city (like the coloureds in S.A. under apartheid)

Prostitution would be legal, throughout, brothel, street, etc. and tax free and receiving government support as 'social work' with benefits on top of the tax free salary and free medical & dental.

Tunisia a former Polonial dependency, would have the most of Polonian expatriates & ethnic Polonians living outside of Polonia with 6 to 8 million people.
While in Europe, Sweden & Norway would have most Polonian immigrants dating back to the 18th century when they were invited to help with specialised industries and building of infrastructure and would count 1 million in norway and 400000 in Sweden .

The third busies airport after Heathrow & Schipol would be Gothafen(ie. current polish gdynia), the Gothafen seaport being the busiest in the world.

Polonia itself would have a population of 51million. unemployment rate 10% , people living with HIV/AIDS: 0.2%

Polonia would allow the possession of firearms from the age of 16, provided the person in question has passed all 2 examinations on weapons handling & an extensive medical examination including mental health, & that of relatives going back 3 generations.

alcohol & tobacco use from age 16. Driver license from age 21 with very strict regulations for first 5 years of license. Legal age for sexual intercourse 12 years.

Please make your own versions of a new Poland, complete with a new name, language, ethnic people, religion and so on; I am especially counting on MareGae's response!

News / THE ARMY OF POLAND - THE REALITY [383]

Past 100 years, every Polish government (apart from Peoples republic Poland) is so ignorant about the security of Poland....
we are between two historical mighty nations. One we are seriously annoyign constantly by the Polish gov't sticking their noses where not needed, as for the other we are on their Eastern provinces, as soon as a right wing government goes to power in this country then we shall expect conflict for those territories; people have no clue whatsoever how much this land to the east of the Oder/Odra really means to these people.

every person regardless of gender 17 years of age should serve 2 years mandatory, wether they are planning to study later or live in another EU country but hold Polish citizenship.... this would weed out all the people who dont give a rats arse about their 'fatherland'.

Seriously; hasn't history taught us enough????? There is other countries out there who didnt experience so much ****, occupation and other things but they have strong Loyal understanding to serve their country just in case, we experienced all those partitions and bad times and still are oblivious to the fact that for example 1 year from now Poland might be wiped off of the world's map once again..... which time would it be this time?

and with current polish land do the Ribbentrop/Molotov pact again- west of Wisla is Doitsch en east of it Russian.

The only other option I see if we wanted be more closer to Europe is Uzbekistan or Tajikistan, nice mountains, and oil. plus a nice spot for making tax free money (coz we luv taxfree $$$$$) that just reminds me, Florida isnt bad for making taxfree money either, especially if we had like an equal of Schiphol & Sinagapore port in this Poland-Florida.

Language / What are some loanwords in the Polish language? [24]

from the germanic-jewish language of Yiddish:
git, gites = good
sziksa= nice looking girl [I am not sure whether this is yiddish or also used in Hebrew, but ironically shiksa by the Jews is female goyim, usually said to be dirty/filthy/slut - with which of course no Jew can have a relationship mainly because this relationship could lead to unjewish children (the Jew religion tells that the child is determined from maternal side, apparently it used to be from the paternal side but during the Middle ages where many women did not know who the father was, and because of rape occuring they changed it to maternal)]

there is many more loanwords from Yiddish, and even a whole Polish/yiddish language without a name , but it is thieves cant, was popular in 19century , these days you might come across a largely watered down version in some Prison institutions throughout Poland, and this also depends on the region(or rather from which region majority of inmates originally were in that institution), and then ofcourse amongst recidivists on the outside speaking with each other.

PS: If you are interested in this thieves-cant , then a very interesting one is Rotwelsch, same circumstances but in germany(mainly south Germany) except the languages are also enriched by adding Roma(Zigeuner talk, gypsy) and of course German and Yiddish.

Firstly, Polish people hate everyone, west , east, south norht. And they hate themselves too. hope they interbreed with 3rd world immigrants and a new Imperial Russia crushes this 'nation' once and for all.

as for balts, Estonians are not balts and are real proud of that. they are the same as Finns and more related to Hungarians.

Crow: you are some kind of freak amongst your nation, because all others are looking to RUSSIA. I would be more proud to be born Serb than Polish!!!!

Overall I think most bad Polish traits lie in the general character, you might compare the Polish to say..... Koreans, yes good example. or maybe better example Hong Kong

Life / Lack of Spacial Acuity in Poland [69]

It must be awful for the British, especially if they moved from a big city like London.since it is more crowded and people are very cautious not to even brush against someone... whereas maybe Poles aren't scared of dying , and touching a stranger(for example shaking hands ) -they don't have some instilled fear about germs and so on.

its like country people outside in England, those country bumpkins drive like madmen.

Polonia / What about the Poles living in Germany? [65]

most of those who went to live in the Ruhr area where Schlesien(Slask) people - a minority, neither German neither Polish -although they are more culturally close to the Polish and the language is much more like polish than like german.

Alot of these people and also Poles who immigrated to Germany did so during the past 500 years, so why mention only 2004 Europ4ean Union accession period. During the Socialist years they could have gone there and remained as permanent residents .

I think its more justified by Poles moving to Germany rather than Britain, not only because of WW2 but mainly because the second largest ethnic minority in Poland after Jews since Poland came to existance were in fact Germans, some cities and towns leading up to WW2 had on average 20% Germans , in some like Lodz where there were more textile industry there were more.

Poland is poor now because Hitler robbed it all of its gold, and burnt the Jews that owned alot of things such as businesses.

and as gfor Poles going thieving in Western Europe and in Poland generally, it is because since the partitions of Poland where German powers, Austro-Hungary, russian empire robbed Poland alll the time, plus then again Jewish and German industrialist , Polish people over the centuries have gotten pissed off and learnt to rob, and steal, if they are in a Government job they are the top class Thieves, but then there is also ones who only finished elementary school so what do you expect.

It has much to do with History, the oprressed becomes angry and then because living in Poland in the last 300years have been quiet uncertain times, when you are not sure if it is worth working honestly for something, because people have it in their brains that next thing the political system might change or maybe a war , and they can lose it all...

its like say .... if an Economic Recession would happen every 10 years - I am sure people in any country would get sick of it all and end up living in apathy and stealing.

Polish kids/teens fashion style?

it is like anywhere else, you get
dresy = they usually wear nike sneakers, joggin pants , and have shaved heads or reall short hair
goths/metalheds - well you know what they wear

'rich kids' - those kids who wear absurdly expensive brands and like to flaunt their crap ..
then you have people who wear things like they just came out of Britpop videoclip

and skatekids .

Language / Slovio - the international simplified Slavic language [37]

That Slovo and 'Slavic Unity' concepts reek of copying Nazi ideology - ie. Slavic superiority etc...
I don't believe there is such a thing as a Slavic race, its just cultural/ethnic groups

you can't make all those countries into one nation because of so many differences, it is like comparing Bavarians to Icelanders (both are Germanic people, but so much different in appearence, culture, language)

I think it would be nice if say most of Europe had say Russian as the #1 international language. would make the world more interesting. Heh , and then Russian would be taught across Britain in High schools :)

I agree it would make life easier in the sense that if I were to have kids we would teach them Polish and teach them Polish culutre. But if I were to end up with someone from a different culture/nationality it would be hard to mix the two together and teach them possibly two languages and cultures....

what do you mean, like find a Polish guy who just immigrated and start a family?
Or go to Poland ; that would be the ultimate experiance. In the end you live in Canada so your children will be speaking Cdn English and will have CANADIAN on their passport, and it will be their lives so you wont be able to plan then make tailor made children.... at least I think you don't really plan children.
