Travel / Stag Parties in Kraków [119]

Wrong! Prices in some of the nice bars and restaurants in Krakow arent far off some of the prices we spend in Liverpool on a night out, and we are talking less than a pound, if not the same. But then again we all prefer the older, real ale type pubs with character. Even if prices were massively different I would still go to Poland, different experiences, different culture, architecture etc...the first time I was in Krakow the place blew my mind, hence we are going back.

Not sure where you are from Checkmate, but go and spend a night in Ruthin Castle in Wales, wow!

We are not coming to Krakow to get drunk (maybe tipsy on good food and wine, and the odd beer!), strip off, be insulting....but because it's a beautiful city, full of history, friendly and hard working people (my job involves contact with Polish people living and working in the Liverpool area, they could certainly teach some of our locals a thing about hard work and refusing to be on benefits!). Sorry, I'm ranting now!

Oh, go and visit Caernarfon castle, stunning!

I can guarantee there wont be any naked star jumps, or anything naked for that matter!!! Nor will we be inappropriately dressed, just the usual - shoes, jeans and shirt (and maybe a coat!).

Probably due to the size of the group we might split up for a bit and meet later on. We will probably go to some of the Irish pubs, though there is a massive prefernce to try something not British. Saying that I popped into the John Bull pub with my girlfriend last month but it was a haze of smoke, just not used to that now!! We seemed to spend too much time in the Loza bar though, quite trendy but pricey!

Travel / Stag Parties in Kraków [119]

Hi there, my first post! It's reading stuff like this that worries me about stereotyping, though I can fully understand why. I am off to Krakow on a stag do in a couple of weeks. There will be 16 of us, ages 35-40ish, I have read elsewhere on the internet that there is a crackdown on British Stag groups in Krakow, for example some pubs and clubs not letting all male British groups in. Again I can understand this as there is an obvious British culture when it comes to drinking and being overly rowdy.

This will be my fourth visit, the last two with my girlfriend and a month ago. I absolutely love the city and cant get enough of the culture (and great food!). Hoping to explore the Jewish Quater a bit more this time.

The worry that I have is how we will get on in Krakow and how many places wont let us in. We are not into wearing the same t-shirts/shirts, getting too drunk, upsetting locals etc. The first time we came (6 of us) we thoroughly enjoyed the restaurants, trips out and taking in as much culture as we could. I'm armed with a number of guides and planning on visiting some museums, especially the Archaeology one, couldnt find it last time! To be honest it would be nice to avoid the other British stags there.

Will we get barred from places for just being British (which I've seen mentioned) or if we were simply too plastered (which could be any nationality and something we dont do anyway)? Any recommendations for bars and restaurants that will accept a group of 16?

I'm hoping to book a large table at the Wierzynek restaurant, been there each time I've been and love it.

Thanks for any advice given,

Mike
