Life / I'm British in Poland and I think that it's time to go back to the UK! [240]

This forum allows everyone to voice their opinion but they should not have insults hurled at them.

Which of course is just your opinion. Lots of people posting on here should have insults hurled at them constantly. Which of course is just my opinion ;)

Oh guys what a pile of rubbish .....Im sorry to sum it all this way..... I honestly think that most of the issues you touched –dnz- are totally groundless.....

You do write as if you have never actually experienced Polish bureaucracy, or have been very very lucky when doing so. It's not just non-Poles who believe the problems to be true.

Those Poles fortunate enough to have experienced life elsewhere hold the same opinions. As Mr B says, it's an outdated system run by lazy and incompetent staff

he got voted best major in Poland a couple of months ago

Great. My local mayor got right royally caught with his hand in the cookie jar and is now taking a brief vacation whilst corruption charges are prepared.

The city he represented has undergone phenomenal development in recent years and staggering amounts of money have changed hands, especially over choice bits of local realestate, with a fat cut going his way, naturally. He was finally caught when taped discussing kickbacks from a proposed attic convertion project.

If Polish-language forms were widely available, this business would die a quick and painless death, don't you think

Which is obviously of more concern to you than any of us.

But that said

It appears as though you have no idea just how much easier it is for Poles in the UK to wade through all the bureaucracy there than it is for Brits in Poland

There is an overwhelming sense of negativity in what Polonius has written. Do you think he was paid to write it?

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

Polish beer is great,

Some Polish beers are very nice

But to put them on a pedal stool above all others is wrong

But with all due respect, which is actually not very much at times, if you dont clean the pipes out properly it tastes like sh!te

I wouldn't say Polish beer is the best in the world

Not by any stretch. And the brewers fek around with the beer too much in Poland too.

Love / My boyfriend is on a Polish dating site [158]

with all due respect I am no way going to make a life changing decision based on what random online strangers say.

Lesson learnt?

I would consider myself very fortunate, if I were in his position.

Lets hope he is not seeing it as a green light to continue taking the p!ss

Law / How do you set up a company in Poland? [46]

I'm prepared to commute to poland (I have a contact there) but is this type of business viable

I think this is becoming increasingly difficult to pull any worthwhile profit from. Ive been doing this in and around the 3M for some time and whilst there are still plenty of flats that could use a good refurb, what I have been seeing for some time now is very little variation in sale price between pre-refurb and post-refurb flats. No room to make a worthwhile profit. Not worth the effort.

And as SBM says, no shortage of cowboys who will muck the job up for you and strip away any pofit you might hoped to have made. And quality expectations will not be the same as back home.

Work / Are you teaching English in Poland? [120]

Callan method has appeared to dominate Poland for sometime. It seems many Polish schools are becoming disillusioned with Callan and moving to Avalon

Callan schools are not actually Callan schools if you get my drift. Just schools using their method. One of the marketing coups was that you could become a 'Callan' school just through using their materials without the financial outlays required by franchised language schools. Another coup was not requiring your teaching staff to be cert qualified

I taught in the New English School in Lublin.

Where are you teaching now?

I've never taught Avalon but I think, ironically enough, that I wrote some of the material for it

Im sure you mentioned that before, S. I am still trying to decide if that is something to be proud of or not ;)

That said, Avalon have experiences huge growth in the past 18 months or so and much of it has been in Poland

Callan is probably your best bet without degree or cert.

callan.co.uk/en/locate_school.php

VaF, I thought I'd revive this as I know u have an interest in it

Thanks Seanus

Love / Is it possible for Filipino gay like me to have a Polish lover? [13]

Many Polish gay people are coming out of the closet finally so it seems that there are more gay Polish people than ever before. At time it seems like the country is being over run with them. Im sure their president was a homosexual person. Or was it the prime minister. They look so alike

how can you call me stupid? :)

Ive called you a meathead. I can tell this just by looking at your photo. But perhaps its not you and you just like photos of butch men. Who can tell.

But you are absolutely right. Brits are apparently lower down the IQ scale than Poles. Which really does beg a lot of questions.

BTW did you ever hear the song about the silly Polish car thief?

I would have thought with such a predominance of butt ugly men, the average neanderthal Pole like legion would have welcomed a bit of variety in the gene pool. Oh well. Theres stupidity for you

I wouldn't advice coming back to Poland either legion. There is a much greater need for cannon fodder in the US
