With all due respect, that's not really how it works these days. Most 'firms' arrange meets, away from the average football fan and the ever more watchful eye of the police. It's essentially two sets of hooligans agreeing to a scrap. As long as innocents aren't involved then I don't really care...

To suggest that this is some sort of therepeutic exercise for them is ridiculous. This what they are about and there is nothing romantic about it.

I think it is just that (therepeutic) although I agree there is nothing romantic about it (unless your name is Carlton Leach, Cass Pennant or Bill Gardner)

Today, Poland is a Central Eur. country because its economy is the same as westerners economies

The Berlin Wall is best used to define Eastern/Western Europe. The politics are no longer relevant

This central European term seems to be applied to countries with developing economies that don't wish to be associated with the old East for some reason.

And pleaase..."the only reason" ?... tss...

You're right Polson, he should have said 'the most important reason by far' rather than the only reason...

Britain has changed (Labour government/expansion of the EU/global economy). Unfortunately for you, this was voted for by the British electorate. If you don't like YOUR country then you should take your own and advice and leave.

Language / Learning Polish, good for beginners? [29]

I have decided to take the plunge and actually start learning this wonderful language. Can anyone suggest any books which will help me get started. My ability to grasp languages (other than English) is virtually non-existant (I learnt French for some 9 years but can barely speak a word), so something very basic for beginners would be ideal.
