Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

just thought, a problem that sometimes strikes me is, how to girls/women on this forum, depict the weird, stalkerish, puppy sort a guys from the normal ones.

The whole 'Polish Personals' section weirds me out! The world is full of people, why seek them out online? But then, you always hear these stories how people met, fell in love, got married, and it turns out one of them is a serial killer. I haven't been in that situation myself, but I imagine there would be signs. Some people will see what they want to see, and this is whether they met online or anywhere else.

I can only claim to be normal i guess as i cannot prove it myself and it could only be resovled by others statements. I'm just interested, for example, if i pm a girl/woman on the forum, sometimes i think, 'hm whats she going to think' and its because of some of the weird types on here that make me think that.

Although, sometimes its easy to spot a psycho on here because of their writing styles. They feel comfortable enough to be themselves because no one knows them. The flip side to that is that it can be easier to disguise your personality because you're not showing facial expressions, body language etc..

Mali, it's funny, i'm sure there is many beautiful girls, i don't feel proud or anything else and i don't think i will stay with nothing if nobody say something pleasant about me... we joke here, as you see... and what "power" are you talking about?

You're young still, and probably like all the 'attention' from the men here, which is fine, but you should definitely be careful about it. The 'power' I refer to is this idea that women feel like they're controlling the situation because the men are specifically looking at them; you control their gaze. However, once the gaze moves onto the next woman, you have lost the sense of 'power'. You can never be fully confident in yourself when you depend on the attention that men give you due to your looks.

I have nothing personal against you, panienka.

ETA:

Be proud chick. Make the most of it. Show the world! In 20 years time we'll all be old gits!

Panienka is a beautiful girl, no doubt about it. Nothing wrong with being beautiful and making the best of it. It can become a problem (especially for women) when they depend on it.

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

lol, i agree, however the problem is there are plenty of puppies on this forum, jesus just look at the advertisments for 'polish girls' etc etc. Even if one or two do give up i'm sure there will be another 10 waiting to replace them :).

'Advertisement' is a great word actually. Thats a good depiction of how some people represent themselves or the women.

coming from a male perspective here, i don't mind girl 'knowing' she is attractive, that is sexy, however saying it, bragging, letting it slip or whatever just says to me........ well i can't say those words on a public forum, but i think you know what i mean :)

That's why I said overly :) . Being 'attractive' is well and good, but its not something I would want to rely on. And yes, I completely get what you mean :)

The master only has the 'power' as long as the puppies are interest. Once their interests move on to the next 'master', this master is left with nothing. This is why nothing good can come from being overly proud of one's looks.

lol, everytime somebody with a decen photo comes online, its the same same same same thing, lol, i've been here long enough now probably like you to understand this :). It's like the new girl at school syndrome :)

I've been on this forum for only a few weeks, technically speaking. I've checked it out before but never felt like signing up until recently. Some people need attention more than others :)

News / Polish Immigrants Leave America for Europe [210]

Polish people should come to Canada. In my unprofessional opinion, we are a vast empty land that needs more people. Welcome :)
At least they can come without a visa for 3 months now. Just don't expect any free handouts and you'll do fine :)

Language / pronounce "Kocham Cię" [57]

'Cock Armchair'

cock amateur

I think the 'armchair' sounds a little closer. 'Amateur' has too many syllables.....although its more fun to say.

What would a 'Cock Armchair' look like? lol

Life / Poles are not racist [873]

You've never heard a Polish person utter 'murzin' or 'mosiek' or something about tzyganki? And there are plenty more. I've even seen murzin in a Polish TV Show not that long ago.

"and hopefully never will", interesting, you don't like the idea of immigrants coming to Poland?

What goes on in Poland is Polands problem, not some British and Canadian problem. Poles can do whatever they please, its their own damn country.

Thats good because as a dual citizen, I can complain about Poland's racial problem all I want.
Aren't you half Polish? Technically, I'm more Polish than you (100% if thats even possible, and born there) :)

Who is pretending? I have seen it, and well, what I have seen is very innocent in comparison to what happens in the West.

Europe is part of the 'West'.
Canada is pretty bad with the Natives, there's no denying it. Just like there's plenty of racism to go around in Poland.

how can you be a feminist with so many men in the world just waiting to please you and make you the happiest girl alive, man i can't imagine hating women and its not just a sexual thing. There is just something you get from women that you can't get from men.

Its not about hating men, its about being equal.....but dammit, I don't want to be a Pole, I want to be a Polka! lol

Life / Poles are not racist [873]

No problem :)
Pole is just so asexual (and I'm supposed to be a feminist :p)

Tornado, the UK has had horrible racist driven crimes lately... Poles racism is much more innocent, more likely driven by curiousity. Like for example, an old Pole sees a black man for the first time in his life.. of course he will stare at him..

The topics are worthwhile discussing according to whom? So its okay to complain about the way that Polish people are treated in other countries but its not okay to complain about how Polish people treat others in Poland?

Yes, there definitely is racism in Canada today but the government actually tries to put a stop today, and racial slurs are generally condemned. Poland isn't the only country in Europe thats racist,( not even close! - I could go on and on about Germany and Italy) however, the topic of this particular thread is the racism in Poland. I do believe that Poland has this more deeply ingrained than does Canada or even the UK. Why pretend its not there? It just sounds counter-productive to me.

Both of you make me laugh. You talk about racism, yet you talk about it on a forum and think that will somehow change things. If you are so worried about racism in Poland, go over there and paint slogans, go to demonstrations..

And it doesn't make you laugh that people go on to the forum to complain about 'polonophobia', Poland's history etc..?
Another way of saying 'forum' is 'discussion board', meaning that people are going to be discussing their opinions. Someone made a post saying that there is no racism in Poland, and that's their right to think so. However, I have a different opinion and experience and so I posted my thoughts on this topic. Because people have a differing opinion they shouldn't be discussing it on a forum? How high and mighty of you!

I'm sorry, but the problem really isn't as great as you are making it out to be?

Maybe you'd be right on this one if I would have been arguing from pages 1-21. I'm simply posting my opinion, as is Tornado, as I'm sure you do also.

i like you because your a realist and unlike a lot of the people on here you recognise the problem in your motherland.

It just feels really really wrong to pretend that everything is perfect. You can't fix a problem if you pretend not to see it.

Poland as far as i know has a big racial problem, its not the only country, however i'm talking on a polish forum to polish people. As i have said in other posts i know of Polish people who are racist, they are my friends yes, although that does not mean i have to agee with their views. People who are racist i think are just ignorant of other cultures, countries and life in general.

It totally does, if anyone reads Amnesty International reports they will see how bad the racism is. Gypsies getting beaten, or refused entry into elementary schools, etc.. (oops, I should probably call them Roma, not Gypsies).

How many posts have we seen on PF where a Polish girl is saying that she wants to date a Black guy but her parents will freak if they find out?

I'm by now way saying the UK is not racist, in fact far from it, however we are more embrassing to other cultures and ways of life

Thats because it became illegal (ie anti-discrimination laws) a long time ago, and new generations of people are moving beyond it. Thats what Poland needs - to move on from the current mentality.

There's no racism in Poland.

?????
I'm pretty sure there is! I love Poland and all, but there needs to be serious work done regarding the racism there. I don't just mean whenever there is a minority to put them on TV to pretend that Poland is multicultural, I mean a serious overhaul to get rid of the racism that exists there.

The fact that people still use 'murzin' (probably spelled that wrong) is pretty telling that racism exists. There's also a distrust/hatred of gypsies and Jews that exist in many places.

Life / Why are Poles always so miserable? Why do they never smile? [512]

I'll never get this "miserable" thing. It's an unnatural thing to walk about with a big grin on your face so therefore most people will not be smiling when you see them, particularly if they are alone.

This made me laugh because I'm picturing someone leaving their house with a big smile on their face the entire time. Who does that?

I find people in Poland to be happy and laid back (sometimes a little too laid back).

I do admit that my grandmother will never smile in a picture. She wants people to think she's a serious woman, lol

News / Polish Immigrants Leave America for Europe [210]

Besides, scores of people throughout the world seem to feel that the days of US power are numbered and something terrible -.

Like having to pay China back the money they owe? That would be catastrophic!

Polonophobia

I'm sick to death of this word. Sure there are some people that specifically don't like Polish people but generally speaking, this 'polonophobia' is in the minds of some Polish people that like to play victim. Far worse racism and prejudice is aimed at Muslims, Blacks, Asians, Hispanics on a regular basis that to hear someone complaining that a few people don't like us Polaks is being plain whiny, in my opinion. Build a bridge and get over it.

Its very difficult to be successful at anything if you can't even communicate. As you said, its a competitive place and you need to be able to beat the next guy. People often look at learning English as a 'betrayal' of their mother tongue instead of as a power tool that they can master for their own advancement. Learning to speak another language (especially in the country you're living in!) can only be beneficial.

Re: Manual labour
I guess it depends on the kind you're talking about but in Canada there is a HUGE industry in construction and home renovations. If you're good at it and can set up a business (which requires being able to speak some English!), you can make yourself a very decent living. One of my parent's good friends (yes he's Polish) owns and runs a mid-sized company in this industry and is bringing in millions annually. He speaks English with an accent, but he's very good at getting his message across and he also has a very acute sense of business. None of these skills would be useful if he can't talk to other business owners.

Work / Education in Poland - system and structure [118]

The Polish that come to the UK are more educated than the British.

I'm sure some of them are. I'm also sure that some of them aren't.
Never generalize, it just shows your ignorance.

I'm Polish and I love Poland but if Polish people were so much more educated than other nations, English being the example given here, what is with the mass exodus to other nations, England again being a prime example? Obviously, the English can't be that uneducated that people are immigrating to their region by the masses. It would be difficult to run a nation that is still one of the richest in the world if there would be so many 'dumb' people.

That being said, my mom went through the Masters program in Poland and was able to get a teaching job in Canada without a problem. She also continually get job offers to work for the board to work on the math curriculum (they're constantly changing the curriculum after every provincial election, because apparently the have nothing better to do) even though she mastered in history and not math. But then, I also know people that went through the same system as my mom and struggle to get a decent job. It also depends on the person. Not everyone is good at the same thing.

I used to sit in class looking out of a window somewhere in Britain.
Then the bloke who is now my flatmate spent his schooldays looking out of a window somewhere in Poland for his education.

Sounds like Canada too.

News / Polish Immigrants Leave America for Europe [210]

I haven't read the entire thread so I apologize in advance if I come off as repetitive.

I understand if people are leaving the US for cultural reasons (parts of the US would drive me nuts enough to leave) but I really don't understand why people would be leaving because America isn't the gold mine they expected it to be. No matter where you go, no one is going to throw money at you. Opportunity is what you make of it. There are people that do next to nothing and then go around complaining that they're poor and want to go somewhere else. Thats pure BS, in my opinion. For those that are willing to work hard (not just doing physical work but also learning the language) success will follow. This isn't just about Polish people because I know lots of other people of all kinds of nationalities that stick to their own little area, are limited to crappy jobs because they can't communicate and then complain about the glory days of whichever country they're from. My friend's parents came from Portugal over 30 years ago and can't say "Hi, how are you?" without a thick accent. They stick to their small community and insist that their daughter marry a Portuguese guy because they won't be able to communicate otherwise. In order to be 'successful', I truly do believe that learning the language should be a top priority. Anyone can make a few bucks in Canada and the US but it will be a huge struggle unless you learn the language.

ow believe me the women don't need to drink from kegs to get drunk, they find their ways some how, whether they drink bottle after bottle of cheap vodka or are just lightweights, eitherway does for them :)

But its not as gross...

i can see your point there, but just think of the snowball fights and the snowmen you can build :)

Yeah, snowball fights are especially fun when people don't expect to get hit :)

that is so kool i'd love a snow storm here in the uk it would be so good to have all that snow to play in :)

Snow is only fun until you have to drive somewhere. Thats usually when the cursing begins :)

lol i've seen it on the simpsons and in Ibiza but not in the UK :) maybe it will reach us soon

See, until then you guys can't complain about how 'unfeminine' and 'drunk' your UK girls get. Its really difficult to out-trash a keg stand. Keg stands get people drunk faster than they would be if they were drinking right side up, which means that they're puking sooner also.

wow that is a lot of layers, surely you shrink in all those clothes, lol :)

Whatever it takes to stay warm :) Btw, we had a huge snowfall yesterday afternoon and it hasn't ended yet.

i actually think women are worse with drink, i can't speak for any othe country but my own but the UK is awful for it.

Here both sexes are drunkards. Have you ever heard of a 'keg stand'? Its when you drink from a keg almost upside down while two people are holding your legs. That's the kind of sh*t thats normal here at house parties in Canada and the US. People actually pride themselves on their keg standing abilities. I really haven't heard about people complaining that women do it in the UK.

it must be weird learning your own language, lol, i mean i couldn't imagine being english and living in spain from age four and having to learn english :)

nah, its not nearly as difficult for a child to learn new languages as it is for older immigrants going to a new country.

best wrap up warm, although i guess the vodka keeps you warm inside

Vodka has got to be the worst tasting alcohol ever :). I'll stick to wearing seven sweaters.

No, you are too stupid to do that...ya think its only English women that get drunk...Isnt usually British men that drink themselves to death!..litterally!

Isn't that quite the double standard? Guys can drink until they've fallen like idiots and sustained head injuries (and yes, I actually do know a few of these dolts) but when women do it, its unattractive. Does that girl look like she cares if some guy on PF finds her attractive? I highly doubt it.
