It's not a matter of it being honky dory or daft, it is a matter of pros and cons, but England is so dependent on overseas workers that it would take more than the opinions of such threads or real problems to change it.

I have worked in several places in England, mainly in London, and there are problems including the national front or white wolves or whatever the xenophobes call themselves these days. It is unfortunate for the good, decent English people e.g. who don't even celebrate St. Steven's day, because the far right are usually sniffing around.

It was not long ago when the "no blacks no Irish no dogs" sign hung. And these thread implies more tactful notions of the same stance.

When people start segregation of "them" it always ends in catastrophe.


What is the well founded objection to immigration on these threads?

Lies damn lies and statistics. Any time I hear "that nation are thieves, perfect, murderers, geniuses etc..." you can bet your trousers that the bigot who is pushing these views is not all there.

We should take that too? You are mixing geography with politics.

I think the topic of this is wrong, it really depends what Eastern Europe means, geographical, political? and what that means? ex-eastern block countries. Is it a negative connotation with this phrase that has you all discussing if Poland is eastern or central?

The more east you go the more western Poland is, seriously.

SO what if there are African, Asian, Polish immigrants?, you people have NO idea, the English economy is build on the sweat of foreigners working for little pay. How long do you think your economy would last with out immigrants?.

Some of the views on this topic are alarming, you must have blinkers on. Do you really see English people as some how being better? A lot of the immigration to England is from the ex colonial days (obviously not Poland). And then you wonder what happened?
