1. Yes, most Poles seem to get more arrogant by the year, especially in the last decade.

2. I don't think their generally weird/unusual behaviour (towards Westerners?) is specifically aimed towards Southerners. They simply can justify their typical Polish sado/maso social dynamics towards darker skinned people easier.

3. Even though I never was a racist (apart from my late teens maybe, while I was dumb) and also had quite a good number of Polish girlfriends (mostly outside of Poland), I am going to say what has to be said:

At first, I didn't think anything specific about them, just them being from Eastern Europe. They generally tried to behave OK while abroad in the 2000s/early 2010s. The situation, however, might have either changed in the last 10 years or it was the effect of me coming to Poland (completely unexpectedly towards what would be waiting for me there). At first I thought they were "the butt of my jokes" by coincidence or even that they were just slightly dumber. Very soon I had to realize, however, I wasn't in Kansas anymore. Yeah, the usual/typical constant attention of females was interesting (and I got a few good girlfriends there, not only Polish ones) but, year by year, there was more of the "other kind" of attention (from guys), unfortunately. It seems Polish males can't handle energy exchange or social situations with Westerners very well... and often have to react either submissively or in a grotesquely negative way. I suspect that the cold weather and isolation over the thousands of years might have hampered their social evolution. But that's just a theory. Good luck to them sorting themselves out, ASAP!

I basically said that their awkwardness likely isn't specifically aimed at darker skinned people. It's just easier to consciously justify.

That's a good quesion! I'll have to think about it. I guess everything has its positives and negatives. One just has to weigh the positives and negatives for one's specific situation, individually.

I can tell you're Polish by the fact that you replied with a personal attack, from the get go. I am sorry to be blunt about this but you leave me with no other choice since you Poles simply don't get subtle hints: Poles are Europe's butt of the joke and it's only a secret to Poles, apparently. During my life, I have met hundreds of Poles and almost all of them behaved like neurotics or were plain rude, especially in social situations. Almost all Poles I met claimed Poland was a Western country, which is quite bizzare, considering the aforementioned rude and clumsy social behaviour. I manage quite a few people and some of them are Poles. I am sorry to say that I wouldn't trust a Pole with £10 to the chippy on the other side of the road.

This shouldn't be an open question at this point, anymore. I have likely met all nationalities throughout my life and Poles seem to be the most unusual ones, by far. Even though this seems so obvious to us, they generally react extremely negatively to anyone ever mentioning it. They do appear to take a lot very personally, which is subconsciously considered immature by most non-Poles. To your question whether you can trust them as a non-Pole: Since Poles generally only click with non-Poles if they've been exposed to an external culture for longer, mutual trust would better depend on a written contract. Needless to say, I suspect that Poles themselves trust each other more. I am not certain about that, however, since I notice a lot of distrust in the very nature of how they communicate.
