Genealogy / Polish looks? [1410]
I know it's a terrible idea, but curiosity got the better of me.
Perhaps it's hard to tell from the pictures, but I am VERY pale, medium brown hair, and greenish brown eyes, so I'm curious as to why Mediterranean came up. While in England, a few people asked me if I was Polish. Here in the US, some people try to speak Russian to me. My mother has much darker olive skin, and people come up to her in airports speaking Italian or Greek.
Judging from where my great grandparents were born, I am 1/2 Russian, 1/4 Polish, 1/8 Lithuanian, and 1/8 Belarusian; however, modify each of the above with "Jewish", which I understand makes the distinctions much less clear.
My Ukrainian friend, by the way, says I just look "Jewish".

Interesting. I think here in the US we're exceptionally bad at reading faces for clues to nationality, because here it does little good.
