I accidentally ran into that web page when I was making a search about "Polish origin Turks" (like Nazım Hikmet and many other). I have been to Poland, and have many Polish Friends both in Poland and here in America. I am Turkish by the way.

I love Poland and Polish people, I somehow have a "bond" with Polish people. I liked most of the Polish friends I have met and they have also loved the Turkish people they met. I believe Both the Poles visiting Turkey and vice versa will love the other culture and people. However, if you are contacting with Turks online, thats a whole different story.

Probably because of some deeply-embedded stereotypes in Turkish culture about Europeans (like all women are promiscuous and think Turkish men are hot!), Turks online tend to be jerks and even worse, jackasses. This has VERY little to do with the actual culture and people. The nicest guy could turn into a jackass when he is online talking with a "hot European chick(!)" because of his stereotyped mind and his anonymity! There is also one more factor which is prevailent all over Islamic countries, Guys are Sex-Thirsty! All though there are always exception, they are usually nice guys, save the ignorant, redneck and sex-starved ones.

I totally aggree with you "wildrover" though I was referring to the other way around, stereotypes in Turkish people's minds about Western People.

When they meet a woman from the West, they behave totally differently than they would otherwise behave with a Turkish woman or a woman from an Eastern culture, because of their kind of twisted image of Europeans in their minds (expecting them to be promiscious and easy feat!). The addition of anonymity could turn them to jackasses (unleashing the repressed animal in them, lol).

Lack of social pressure has a different impact on Turkish women as well. My words, by no means extend to all women, but a significant number of them, facing no (or very little) social pressure, takes "liberality" too seriously (referring to places where not many Turks exist, or Turks dont have much of a social influence like America), They become quite promiscious, as if avenging from the "repressed past". Then they begin to get trapped in a moral/religious dilemma as well as an ever-existing cultural one.
