German borders!

We found out the hard way that our brilliant plan(s) to make our neighbours responsible for all outer-EU-immigrants didn't work. Our beloved neighbours showed Berlin the finger and just waved the incomers on, knowing they mostly want to go to Germany anyhow....

So...all these nice ideas are for the dustbin....there is not much else beside the ultima ratio securing the EU outer borders...not leaving it to these countries alone, which happen to be on the outside, but paying them, sending troops, arming them...the whole nine yards. Then we could keep the inner EU-borders, the inner EU-travel, the inner EU-trade etc. open....but we are not there yet.

I'm questioning the power of Brussels....that EU-law to keep borders open trumps national law, even if for everybody visible it isn't working right....is that authoritarian for you?

'89 we broke down the borders...the people celebrated freedom, not at last their freedom of movement....compare that to now, what do you think happened?

....I've thought about that....the BRD in the 80's was kinda "perfect" for an Ossi....that's what most wanted to unify with/be like in '89.

The BRD of today....seriously....I think the reformer of back then, those who wanted to try out first to make the GDR better, would have more chances.

West-Germany doesn't look that appealing today anymore....I think many East-Europeans can sympathize, the whole West-EU-thingie isn't that popular anymore...no longer such an glamorous Idol to follow unquestioning!

That doesn't mean anything....german passports are given out like candy!

Also, Hamburg shows that the gov protection measures like "Messerverbotszonen" are just a joke and stop nobody....

Alone during the last weeks we had several knife attacks, even in schools between kids....they become a daily occurrance, and yes I want the old Germany back where this didn't happen...if this is multi-kulti modern, progressive Germany they can shove it!

I guess the end of the pull factors like free cost and logis and lawyer to stay in an endless circle till they are allowed to stay even as an illegal would be a good start.

It is reported immigrants are already leaving Germany just because their free money has been moved to an explicit card where they can only get the most necessities with anymore...no longer having the full control how to spend the support money, and they don't like it.

Any REAL refugee, running for their lives, fearing death, would be glad about that support anyhow but no....but so it begins!

Baby steps....

The end will be that the national govs get the full control over their borders and immigrants back...I guess it will be the beginning of an outside wall around Europe...or something like it, anything to stop that flood of unwanted foreigners, and there is nothing Brussels can or will do against that anymore.

But as always, the first steps to turn somehing around on its head are the most difficult. After all Europe has moved for decades into the other direction!

Novi, Europe works differently! One Trump in one member state wouldn't be enough....

Nine EU countries have signed an open letter calling for the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) to be reinterpreted to allow for policy changes on migration.

The document was published on Thursday as part of an effort led by Italy and Denmark. It was also signed by leaders from Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.

The signatories, who believe it should be easier to expel migrants who commit crimes, said the ECHR's interpretation of the convention should be examined.

"It is important to assess whether, in some cases, the court has over-extended the scope of the convention compared to its original intentions, thus altering the balance between the interests to be protected," they wrote.

"We believe that the development of the court's interpretation has, in some cases, limited our ability to make political decisions in our democracies," they added.

Their message comes as anti-immigration parties across Europe have surged in popularity in recent months....

In Germany many politicians and leftist parties excused their "Do nothing" approach for years with the existence of EU-laws against a firmer stand on illegal/criminal immigrants...since EU-laws would top german laws.

That has to end and once these decisions go back to the national govs this development won't stop there!

This "letter" doesn't sound "big", but its a clear sign that the high point of Brussels legal power seems to be reached, it has stopped working.

I dunno....I sometimes compare it with the "Wende"....afterwards not many wanted to have anything more to do with their SED-past...

Everybody knows/knew the truth but most just try/tried to survive/adapt to the new rules...that is totally different from "not being able to handle it"!

Now I think a real processing of the events is only be possible with the next generation. A new generation not being directly involved/tainted...and that will be so with every big happening in any country, the Corona-Crisis for example. There is no real reprocessing possible with the deciders still alive and often enough still in power...

You know it...I know it....thing is you will never hear that from their former leaders and their current sympathisants! They will tell you that YOU are the bad one, the one with not enough education, the Nazi, the paid agent or just to stupid....maybe even all at once!


I'm not sure about that....and what happened in Sachsenhausen. Höcke didn't deny the Holocaust, didn't he! And I know though that the "Erinnerungskultur" in the GDR was already a different one than the one Wessies are used to...for example Jews played barely a role....not much about a Holocaust, but all about the brave Soviets and Communists...so...


That's the core of the misunderstanding yesterday, I think....why "instead" and not "also"?
I totally support the teaching in schools about the big history....but our Opa's are our own ancestors! Researching their lifes is more than a war crime, both should be possible at the same time!

Yeah....maybe because that's where socialism always ends.

Again, what you enjoy is social democracy at most, kept in check mainly by conservative rightists....that works. It stops working when the conservatives are moving/being moved left and the socialists taking over...that's where we are now....the end of that left-moving would be Absolutism again, when it isn't stopped!

PS: Sometimes I think Mrs. Merkel was the revenge on the West for the end of the GDR aka "When we had to go down, you will too!"

That socialist "paradise" is the big error....there never was one, and there never will be!

All this equality-thingie is just inhuman....totally against human nature, hence never working out! In the end not all have more, but a few have all and the rest nothing!

The only way the Left should exist is in the opposition....as Germany managed for a few decades. A conservative, pro-industry, pro free-market economy gov + a leftist opposition to point out the problems and smooth over the faultlines....that has worked out.

For me as an ex-GDRian it sounds all the same....maybe one of the reasons the AfD is so succesfull in the East, the "warnings" sounding so similiar to those that came from Honecker and his SED....who knows!


So? I had a time discovering my family history too....my Opa lost two toes in WWII...his brother was KIA...I even asked the "Kriegsgräberfürsorge" if they had found a trace of his in the mean time...does that mean I'm a Neo-Nazi?

Do you hear the Brits or the Russians discussing their many, many war crimes during WWII? No? All Nazis now?

A socialist society always degenerates into a third world economy (no investors, no public sector at all anymore) very soon....where only the tiny party elite has the money to eat in one of the few restaurants...and the 95% of the common people has to stand in line for the daily bread and milk (if there is any).

That's the thing....that "warning"!

How often can you warn till that warning loses its effect? Especially if it comes from growingly unpopular sources....

An example....the GDR people had been warned for decades of the dangers of capitalism and the West generally....from Kindergarten onwards...dissenting parties and media being forbidden, even a wall was build...all to safe guard the good people and rescue them from the bad, of course....

Only some "warning" alone means nothing in the long term...not if the warners don't deliver a real positive alternative!

I keep wondering about the discrepancy between some "jury" vote and the "public vote"....
