Well, I'm not asking for a military parade in Kiev but it would be somewhat more obvious if you managed:

a) to defeat the Ukrainian army decisively in the field
b) to capture a couple of large cities... I don't know: Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia - something like that (because
hearing about this small sh*thole Pokrovsk for a year and a half was one of the saddest things in the history of wars);
c) to pull off at least one shock-and-awe style action that would impress the world.

As it is, the matter of victory seems rather uncertain.

If I didn't know it was Trump's I would think that these are Putin's unconditional surrender demands.

If Ukrainians give up Donbas, then they will also have to give up the defensive lines they built for so long, which would make them defenceless if Russia ever broke the agreement (and there is such possibility, right?). Also, why should Ukraine reduce their army by a half and make herself even more defenceless when no such limitations are to be put on Russia?

... but these are two completely separate cases. The lands were never meant to be any sort of reparations. It was Stalin's dirty trick to keep the Soviet Union as Poland's only guarantee of keeping the lands in the West while he stole much more than that in the East, and keep us in eternal check.

If you mean the ridiculous 1953 "waiver", then it is completely legally invalid: it was made under Soviet pressure and - what's more important:

- Polish Council of Ministers (which made the waiver) did not have the proper constitutional authority to make that decision, so it was illegal to begin with;
- it was not officially published in a way that would make it binding under Polish law, so it's a non-issue - totally illegal nonsense.

So, Poland has a completely valid legal argument for the reparations but Germany simply refuses to negotiate. I can understand the German position of simply refusing to pay for the undeclared war, total destruction of Polish economy, theft of national treasure, works of art etc., slaughter of the elites, war crimes, and 6 million murdered civilians. Whoever would want to pay for silly things like that, right? But the outright stubborn refusal doesn't mean that the "case for reparation is closed". It is not.

I know. About 10% of Polish GDP depends on trade exchange with Germany, and we are the 4th largest buyer of German goods. That's why we wish Germany all the best. If only they could somehow control the putinist 5th column, it would really help things. Germany should become the pillar and the mainstay of Central Europe, but with those AfD folks getting ready to play a more significant part in German politics, I am not an optimist. :-/
