News / Why should Poland consider pursuing a strategic alliance with Russia? [392]

They became rich off our backs

That's just retarded.

The Russians held us back

By practically building their entire heavy industry and gifting them lands that never belonged to Ukraine in the past?

The EU pumped them full of cash

In 20 years (2004-2024) Poland received about €260 billion from the EU, mostly in EU Cohesion Policy and Common Agricultural Policy. We paid about €90 billion in member-state contributions, so our net gain is €170 billion. It is about 16% of our current GDP, divided by 20 years gives around 0.8% of GDP every year. A nice money, for sure - every little helps - but to say that Polish success is the result of this 0.8% would be to overlook the remaining 99.2%. :)

bloodthirsty apes suffering from historical amnesia

I am stealing this phrase to use it in my future discussions with Ukrainians.

including 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS - Galizien

A correction here: it was Ukrainian Schutzmannschaft Bataillon der Sicherheitspolizei and a Ukrainian police company, not Galizien units.

what can one discuss with the Virgin during an entire hour, every single day?

You do not "discuss". You pray, you ask for her wisdom and humility in accepting God's will, and you offer your services as her knight and slave.

Well, did your Poles help you? This line has been quoted 10 million times by Ukrainians over the past two years.

Colour me unsurprised. We are the perfect scape-goat. I said it a long time ago - if Ukrainians lose against Russia, they will somehow find a way to blame Poland for it.

when have you become such a pessimist cynic?

A pessimistic cynic? Hmm...

In 1965, Marek Hłasko - a famous Polish writer - wrote how in 1944 in Warsaw he saw six Ukrainians rape a Polish girl (Hłasko's neighbour from the same house) and then use a teaspoon to extract her eyes, while all the time laughing and making jokes. Even German historians (e.g. Guenther Deschner), investigating the participation of Ukrainian units (including 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS - Galizien) in suppressing the Warsaw Uprising, were shocked by the bestiality displayed by the Ukrainians. Today, the same Waffen-SS unit is celebrated in Ukraine and considered heroes.

Ask me again if I am a pessimistic cynic.

Poland (and Germany) still would prefer Ukraine to win, wouldn't we?

It depends how we define "win". From the Polish point of view, a minor Russian victory would probably be a slightly better option.

A minor Russian victory might (just might) postpone the beginning of World War 3 a bit, and a weakened 20-22 million Ukraine, without their most industrialised areas and natural riches, and with limited access to the sea could be invited to join the EU. Such Ukraine could even continue worshipping their Waffen-SS heroes and murderous UPA banderists. They would still be retarded but at least would cease to be a threat to Poland.

As for Russia, they were our enemy for most of our history, they are our enemy now, and will continue to be one in the foreseeable future, so there's no change here. In other words, a minor Russian victory would mean one threat to Poland in the east, instead of two threats.

to treat a much needed, close ally that way

We are partially ourselves to blame here. From the very first day of this war, Polish trains with weapons, ammo and medical aid started rolling through the border, we took in millions of their refugees, granting them social benefits, kindergeld, free healthcare on all levels and education, we provided them with Starlinks, fuel, electricity etc. We kept saying that Ukraine is fighting for Poland, that we would do everything for them, that we are servants of Ukrainians and so on. So, they got used to it and started taking it for granted.

We should have adopted the early German and then Hungarian/Slovakian stance from the very beginning. Ah, well...

cut off Ukraine completely (...) The nerve! (...) a big ungrateful lie (...) Untolerable!

Chill out, Grunni. All we have to do is adopt a more Hungarian-Slovakian approach towards the Ukrainian-Russian conflict, and it will happen after 2027 elections. Until then, we have to grin and bear it.

They are more of a threat

Of course they are. Just like Germany still worshipping Hitler, Himmler and Heydrich would be a threat to us, so Ukraine openly worshipping Bandera, Shukhevych, Klyachkivsky etc. is a threat to us. That's why we have to elect to power politicians who can clearly see it, and currently only Konfederacja displays a certain dose of healthy realism towards the Ukrainian issue.

If Ukraine refuses to share information about drone technology

I already told you a month ago - Zelensky decided that Ukraine will export military technology and will cooperate in weapons production with: Denmark, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Norway and even Lithuania.

Poland, as you can see, is not on that list. However, Poland is welcome to contribute 0.25% of Polish GDP to Ukrainian defense sector...

... they spit in Tusk's face and he says it's raining.

Ukrainian politicians said on multiple occasions that they view Poland as a competitor in many fields and their actions only confirm their words. It is our retarded politicians who refuse to listen to what they hear, and expect that Ukraine will show gratitude (lol) to Poland for everything we did for them.

Prays 5 times a day, like a Muslim. Begins every morning by spending an hour in his private chapel, conversing with the Virgin.

Truly a knight! I'd rather have him as a friend than an enemy.

many people think he's not "all right" in the head

It is also possible that Mentzen will split from Konfederacja with his liberal faction and join the PiS-PSL coalition.

One way or another, it's going to be interesting and perhaps not the worst scenario for Poland either.

Still can't believe how much Tusk managed to f*ck up pretty much everything in such a short period of time.

They usually make things much worse.

Is there really much worse than shooting your own wounded soldiers? Much worse than waging a brotherly war for 3 years already and without end in sight? Much worse than becoming a de facto Chinese vassal, dependent on Iran and North Korea for war materials supplies?

Come on, Bobi. Russia is better than that. The best (and the first!) thing to do when you want to get out of a deep hole is to stop digging. Sorry for stating the obvious.

it's 10M less indeed

Ukrainian population in 2022, right before the Russian invasion, was 41.5 million. Today optimists say 32 million, realists say 24.

Where did the Ukrainians go? Are the population numbers fake?

No. Ukrainians are simply not added to the Polish population statistics. They are considered war refugees who will go back to their country after the war is over (lol!).
The population of Gdańsk in 2022 was 486,000...

pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludno%C5%9B%C4%87_Gda%C5%84ska

... well over 100,000 Ukrainians live in Gdańsk, some sources even estimate that every fourth inhabitant of our city is Ukrainian. What is the official population of Gdańsk these days? Wait for it... 488,000. :D Lies, great lies, statistics.

Tusk is trolling the opposition.

Tusk is history. In two years Kaczynski will come back (with Mentzen and Bosak as his sidekicks). It's going to be fun.

due to their higher population

Poland's population, counting Ukrainians who are here to stay, is about 40 million. Ukraine's is about 24 million, and if they think those who have been living abroad for the past three years will come back after the war is over, they have to think again.

Study / A medical school called UPS in Poland? [7]

Uniwersytet Pomorski w Słupsku

Not 25 years ago. They got the university status (and the name) only two years ago. Before that it was AP (Akademia Pomorska) and even earlier a WSP (Wyższa Szkoła Pedagogiczna). They never had a proper medicine faculty there, only some related studies (nursing, physiotherapy, ratownictwo medyczne etc.).

The horror! You have to leave this horrible West ASAP. And don't forget to take all your family with you. You can't let them live in a country governed by those "lying mother fvckers".

News / Why should Poland consider pursuing a strategic alliance with Ukraine? [44]

As a thought experiment and a continuation of sorts of the strategic alliance with Russia thread, I propose a discussion of another option (as in the thread's title).

Of course, Poland is already supporting the Ukrainian war effort and has been doing so from the very beginning of the Russian invasion (not only with weapons but also with economic and humanitarian aid) but should our two Slavic countries strengthen the ties and formalise an even closer alliance?

Possible arguments for:

- the fall of Ukraine means that Poland will become the next "bumper" of the West to stop the invading Russians;
- the fall of Ukraine, coupled with American withdrawal from Europe, will create a very difficult geostrategic position
for Poland;
- a strong bilateral alliance could serve as the economic spine of the Three Seas (Międzymorze) Initiative, making
the entire Central Europe more self-reliant and globally competitive.

Possible arguments against:

- Ukrainian government is staunchly pro-German and marginalising Poland in their plans (like future rebuilding of Ukraine);
- Ukraine glorifies and honours OUN-UPA and Waffen-SS formations that took part in genocide of Poles;
- Ukraine has a very strong nationalist current which could potentially make such an alliance fragile or even counterproductive
in the long term.

Anyways, look like there will be no strategic alliance or even any sort of normalisation of bilateral relations between Poland and Russia. My pan-Slavic heart bleeds but Russia is currently ruled by criminals who don't mind killing Slavic people.

The level of military production in Russia points clearly to the fact that they plan to continue the war not only against Ukraine but also against NATO. The putinist regime is preparing for a war against European NATO east flank, this much is certain. If patriotic forces in Russia don't raise and stop those madmen, we will have a war.

The most likely scenario is Chinese invasion of Taiwan coordinated with Russian invasion of NATO's eastern flank. We should hasten and intensify military preparations for the inevitable. Delay and indecision are a crime.

The post-war baby boom was a universal phenomenon

1970s and 1980s were hardly "post-war", and we still had very decent birthrates back then.

The current civilisation (or I should rather say kurvilisation) of childless parasites, egoism and consumerism will affect the size of Polish population more than all the partitions, uprisings and world wars put together (and it won't take over 200 years either).

And inbreeding? lol

Are you calling the generation of our parents and grandparents inbreds? That's rather low even by your standards. :(

And no, I don't have German roots.

Right. There's a long drive ahead of me tomorrow. Good night, clueless people.

Assisting AK was not on the list.

Neither was saving 200,000 civilians from being systematically slaughtered. Sure. We understand.

That's why I said it would be strange to accuse an enemy of betrayal.

action against the criminals attempting to cross our eastern border

What about letting in thousands being sent to Poland by Germany? Asymmetric warfare too?

In the east we are at least trying to stop them. In the west - how many did the Border Guard sent back to Germany?

abstract issue of a strategic alliance with Russia.

It may seem abstract at the moment but in the long run it is either that or a war. A proper, devastating war - one that would make the current fisticuffs in Ukraine look like kindergarten brawl.

that's so f*cking "amazing" according to you? o_O

Internal cohesion and ethnic uniformity are very valuable things for a country.

That it was a result of nazi genocide of Jews and Soviets shifting our borders? Surely you don't blame Poland for that?
