....I came to a different conclusion, Bobko....they are not that many, and most importantly you would not gonna be voted in as Chancellor with a for example Jehova's Witness - Background, just saying.
I remember them knocking on East-Berlin doors after the "Wende", but I never thought they made a big inroad into the german society, not even after 30+ years of trying.
The old ways have proven to be the most sturdiest, even surviving more than 40 years of communist brainwashing! Extremely conservative in its purest meaning! :)
Russian Orthodoxy is just as strange to them....
Otherwise, why do you have so many Jehovah's Witnesses, Pentecostalists, Seventh Day Adventists, and all the flavors of Baptists present in big numbers in Europe?

I dunno....western conservatives are mainly catholic, or protestants....this alone makes it difficult for them to admire the russian orthodox tradition.
That is btw. the same reason why they rarely fall over themselves to follow all these USian new ways of christian thought.
Europe had its own experiences with religious civil wars, of the worst kind at that....and it formed Europe/the West even deep into the on the surface atheist societies, even today. It made us different!
Western conservatives want a "strong, traditional" Russia to admire.

....they are easily subjugated and ruled....that is what I mainly take from their history!
Such a huge people....they have to be diverse and colorful...but what stays with the observer from "far away" is their faceless uniformity in kneeling to the "emperor of the day"!
I prefer disunited, infighting, defiant beehive Europe! Even if that makes it so much harder to rule....guess my sympathies still lie with the tax-defying germanic tribes! :)

I guess the Silicon Valley tech corporations will be the bosses of tomorrow...those who bring mankind into space for resources and free land to settle...including everything AI. They will also find solutions for the climate change, new sources for energy and food and stuff. But they will sell them for a price...for us to pay!
History, even the most glorified, doesn't count much in that regard....

....na ja....the german tribes weren't forced to pay taxes to far away Rome anymore....that they were forced to was enough to get so many angry people together to even take on mighty Rome in the first place....some lesson modern far away Brussels like to ignore/forget....people didn't change that much....

Maybe there once was one....but I doubt there is "a German EU plan" anylonger, Iron.
Germany as a whole has no longer a plan....we are abit planless right now...just in case some people missed that state of german affairs....now THAT is truly sad!
All these theories about some german master plan, some shadow government full of super smart and super secret people who know exactly what to do and when and how...is more like wishful thinking...kinda....right now..
I guess once Germany would stop paying so much into it the EU would just unravel...without much noise....

Recently Merz promised the Rainforest or something in that regard another Billion that we don't have....not to mention the Billions promised to Gaza and such! At the same time the retirement pensions are to be shortened...our infrastructure is full of holes....our schools scream for help.....this man is dangerous....we are already broke!
This "handing out free money for the world" has to stop!!!
Also, it would be more understandable if Germany refused to pay at all to everybody rather than make only one exception, namely, Poland.

Was the traditional polish way, to be friends of far away countries but hating their neighbours, really like the "good 'ol times" to repeat all the errors?
....anyhow Poles like to forget the billions from the EU structural fond flown into Poland for decades, for restructuring, modernizing and rebuilding, mainly paid for by western Germany....maybe an allocation of the sums demanded and already paid by Germans into Poland would be a comfortable compromise!
But probably not for the german-hating-hardliners, for them nothing will be enough, so even trying is futile....but it might very well be that this gov is the last so pliable, just saying....
