News / Polish Lithuanian Diplomatic War? At last. [533]

Not "bastards" though.

that too

They're not Scandinavians either.

true, they're not

Suggestion? You are actually suggesting the ethnic cleansing of Poles in Lithuania?

You misunderstood me. What I tried to say is that anything would be better than starting another war, don't you think?

News / Polish Lithuanian Diplomatic War? At last. [533]

Lithuanians mistrust us, during the Polish-Soviet War (Bolshevik) of 1920, after driving the enemy back, Polish soldiers decided to just 'take' Vilnius while they're there, and incorporate part of Lithuania into Poland.

After what happened it's kinda understandable.
Hm, it looks like it will take a little longer to build the United States of Europe.

Nobody thinks of Lithuanians as of "bastards" here

Lithuanians were called a nation of peasants and small minded people, post #50, #52, #57, #78

than having anything to do with those Poles-Slavs :)).

maybe because Lithuanians are not Slavs? (Just an observation)

this sadness and disappointment can change into something else, if your politicians will still refuse to wise up, and grant Polish minority all the rights that they are entitled to (based on bilateral agreements between Lithuania and Poland, and the European Union laws.)

I hope you guys won't start another war or something. To avoid conflict, it would be much easier to tell all Poles to come back to Poland. (suggestion)

Love / Why do so many Polish girls dye their hair BLACK? [124]

Then it means they have more testosterone...

or they're skinheads. This is what I thought about them when I first came to Poland. Then I found out it's a fashion in Poland.

They had to learn Russian when they were part of the U.S.S.R.

they probably hate it too

I think they will still hold on to Russian and Polish

I don't know, when I talked with them, it seemed like they don't really like either one of them.

The problem in this whole debate is that most of the countries are teaching different history and that's why we'll never come to any agreement here. What makes it even worse is that no one really wants to open up to the "facts" presented by someone who learned history from different books. The biggest damage in Polish history of course is caused by the communism and most of you guys here (I mean Poles) obviously follow what you've learned at school and no one can really blame you for that. It's a same with us too. To accept it and to live with the differences is just about the only thing we all can do for right now. Another suggestion would be to avoid all historical topics because we will never come to any conclusion which would satisfy both sides anyway.

it was a bit like the Union between England and Scotland

I can't tell how the nowadays Scottish feel about their "Union" with England, Wales and N.Ireland but what the Lithuanians told me, it was nothing else but occupation (at least since Jagiello was a king of Poland). Before Jagiello there was no problems between Lithuania and Poland.

Thank you for taking the time to sign up to PF to show really your 'small-man' complex for all to see.

I'm glad he signed up, at least we'll (non-Poles and non-Lithuanians) hear both sides of the story.

since 15 century

What I was told was that the problem with Poles goes back almost 600 years ago when the king Jagiello ordered to kill his uncle, the prince Vytautas of Lithuania.

I'm not surprised, most of Lithuanians I've met, weren't talking good about Poles.
What you guys call Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, they called occupation.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

I'm still pretty sure I shoot better than any of you

Maybe better than me, I wouldn't be surprised about that but I doubt you shoot better than my dad.
The only problem is that we'll most likely never find out :-)

I don't want to brag

But you do, lol

but I'd wager money

I wish we could have a shooting competition between you and my dad. Jeez, I might get rich quick (of course if you have a lot of cash, lol).

I still have more guns at the family home than you, and I can almost definately shoot better than you

How do you determine all that convex? lol Do you even know trener zolwia personally? He might even have a gun store for what we know.

You're funny man, lol

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

As far as Americans, it's too late for this question. We need guns just to stay safe but in Poland, I personally don't think it would be a good idea after what I've observed over there. Like I already said before, Poles (not all of course) are real hotheads when they get wasted.

The fact of life is, that we always lived with guns and we handle them differently than Poles if they were in our situation. When I was in Poland, I observed how they act when they get really mad at each other after having too much to drink. With guns, I can imagine how those very lively "disputes" would end up.

f stop, of course we are leading this comparison, we have the most guns of all and also by our population of 300mln, obviously we have more deaths caused by the use of guns than any other of those smaller and less populated countries.

"The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland?"

No.

That's because Poles are hotheads. I can imagine how many Poles would die in the first few hours after the legislation. Besides, alcohol and guns just don't go together.

Genealogy / Polish DNA? Poles have the most genes in a group includes Balts, Macedonians and Greeks. [264]

so my young apprentice history in printed books might be inaccurate or just made-up

Learn how to discuss from your countryman Filios, he does an excellent job in it.
Now, if I follow your theory, I'll have to assume that it works both ways, right? Just as well the books you've read and the history you know and accept might be inaccurate and made up, correct? Or is it only made up when it's not written by the Poles?

so guesswho how many history books you have red about Poland and Germany?

Most likely more than you. At least I don't have any problems to accept the historical truth.

If you believe that you will pull me in your wannabe smart game, you're wasting your time. This won't work even though your IQ is praised to be way over the average, at least that's what I constantly get to hear on this forum.

We don't accept Ptolemy as a Greek. He was a confused Slav who got payed off by the Germanics to produce such a map. Can't say I don't admire the foresight!

At least you're funny :-)

propaganda.

Propaganda? lol
To suspect an old Greek who lived almost 2000 years ago to be pro German, is simply ridiculous.

BB stop showing German map in German as some kind of proof.

Ptolemy was a Greek, not a German.

maybe you can tell us how many books you read about Polish or German history

Did you consider for a second that an American might like history and treat it as a hobby? Nope, because you know everything about us, we're all stupid and fat.

What you have is a very inaccurate map with a Myth build around it

Oh c'mon man, anyone can see the river Vistula on it. The shapes here and there might be inaccurate but the river is clearly shown on the map.

The Russian occupation time in Poland is over. Poland is a free and a much better country now. No need to stick to the old communist history and geography. You guys are free now and it's time to open up to the unknown before the 1989 historical facts.

I like Polish people, the only problem I have with you guys here and there is when we're talking about history because you still seem not to let go the old "truth".
