Food / Polish Pizza !! The best in the world? [330]

Some of the local outlets are very good. There was an amazing place in Cieszyn. That pizza must've had around 1500-2000 calories but it was very tasty.

Food / Poland's Patyczki (meat-on-a-stick) [33]

I'm sure the Americans have all kinds of top sauces too, Jihad. Nice n' spicy, super! Tabasco is always good :) Have you tried the Habanero version? It's spicier than Jalapeno.

Worcestershire Sauce, great stuff. Lea&Perrins is the best but Heinz also do it justice :) I'd eat kebabs with that on it.

Life / Are foreigners welcome in Poland? [305]

I think that Scots are very welcome here by many, like everywhere. I cannot comment for others and welcome by who? Some will welcome you and some will not.

Genealogy / Polish looks? [1410]

I'd like to try those. I'm sure my fiancee and I could work on it. Anyway, gotta go. Thanks for the suggestion!

Poland does gulasz but not quite as well as the Magyars.

Genealogy / Polish looks? [1410]

Polish looks are fairly distinctive but some just don't match the bill. Hungarian, nice, tell him that his country's goulash is legendary. I had goulash soup with added paprika yesterday and some dish with sausage and beans just 10 mins ago (lencsefozelek kolbasszal). The Magyars are very curious people.

Well, the major hubbub of trouble is in a small stretch located between Copenhagen and Malmo. The police have already issued a crackdown and many radicals are running scared. The people are strong enough to fend it off.

I've seen that before. Yeah, the big problems aren't forecast til 2050 though. It will be an incremental process and they have plenty of time to eradicate it should they choose to do so.

Oh, we have rich cultural traditions of course but radicalism is trying to take hold in some places. Think of the UK. They even tried for a parallel system there.

this could be alarming for some.

Yes but I'm not sure if you are aware of the current level of diversity here, PP. Describe your standard Frenchman for me. Europe is a mishmash of many strains.

Poland is pretty homogeneous. Radical cells are at the heart of our civilisation, most notably in Hamburg and in Scandinavia. Interpol is on top of it for the most part.

PP, there are terrorist cells in many of those countries you have listed.

There are always a few but I don't hear it often. The Poles are just guarded against those that threaten their way of life.

They are safe behind their computers. I don't think they'd be as quick to say it when confronted with those they insult.

Poland is more homogeneous than out-and-out racist. They want to preserve their own and they have every right to do so. Radical Islam should not be allowed to be built up due to the disastrous policies of Western governments.

They are just radicals, pgtx. You won't find much mention of that in this neck of the woods anyway. For those that do, they can jump in the river.

Life / Price of cigarettes in Poland? [192]

Yes but beer also has a suggested price on it but they sell it for more. I'm telling you, they cost 8PLN a pack here.

Life / Smoking vs. Grilling on Balconies / High Rises in Poland [66]

For one, it depends on the type of balcony. I viewed a flat with a huge balcony that wouldn't have caused any problems for the neighbours had grilling occurred. Not everyone has the option of a garden also. Poland is largely a country of flats. In Scotland, many places have gardens. In America, more so.

Sorry, I'd rather put up with smoke which tends to smell nice when drifting off a BBQ than smell an old git who hasn't washed for days.

The general guide is tolerance and if they can't tolerate some smoke then they are shot away in the head. Try walking around parts of Silesia, there's pollution abound.

What do they say, piotr? How do they compare with Aussies? I didn't find the Aussies to be saints either, they were pretty racist too.

My girl is fine, she doesn't put a dent in the finances too much. Still, a little more realism wouldn't go amiss sometimes.

Anyway, this is about racism. She is racist but not in a hateful way. More jokey than anything else. She'd never harm people from other races.

Nah, my girl is both racist and exceedingly helpful.
