Now that Poland is free of the Soviet oppression, their crimes, like rapes and executions of Poles, should be made public and the relevant documents released.

I wrote 1946 and forward as a point of reference to specifically exclude the war related activities. Yes, the Russians raped German women when the took Berlin. Did the rapes continue in East Germany under their control later on?

We can include 1942 through 1945 to show how bad the Soviet were. But then we have to include Dresden, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki. There was no military justification to bomb any of them. Dresden was a purely terroristic act. Personally, my only regret is that we ran out of nukes and I don't feel sorry for the 50,000 Germans fried in Dresden who adored Hitler till his last day. If they changed their minds, it was probably because they lost the war. But a dispassionate observer of history has to keep things in perspective to retain his objectivity.

I saw Katyn. It was terrible but no more than Auschwitz. If Poland can hop into bed with those who gave it Auschwitz and the loses of 17% of the population, Poland should be able to play nice with the Russians. If the Germans today can say that it was not us, it was those bad NAZI's, then the Russian today should be allowed to say that it was not them but rather the bad Soviets, most of them dead by now, who did Katyn and other horrible things.

Unless I am misinformed, Poland officially, or at least many Poles, still blames Russia for the Smolensk accident notwithstanding the fact that the tower told the pilot to go to another airport because the fog was too dense. As is the Polish tradition, respect (szacunek) for the president won and the pilot, instead following the tower directives, obediently did what he was told by a guy who never flew a kite. Poland had a mutual defense treaty with UK and France in 1939. How did that work out? You could apply the same line of reasoning to Crimea and Ukraine. If Russia really wanted Ukraine, it could have it by the end of Sunday and the US would not absolutely nothing. And it shouldn't. Nobody here gives a rat's a** about Ukraine to die for it. When the Soviets put some bad s*** in Cuba in 1962, the US went nuts and was ready to go to war with them. Now, NATO, that toothless military welfare receipient still in the US pocket, rolled its hardware right up to the Russia's doorstep, meddled in Ukraine, and put sanctions on Russia for their "aggression" in Crimea. I used the quotation marks around aggression because Crimea was always part of the USSR and was given to Ukraine by Kruschev with the population nearly all Russian. With Ukraine going west, no wonder Putin wanted his Crimea back to keep that military base there.

If Kosovo can decide for itself what it wants to be, so can Crimea. There was a vote, nobody got shot, case closed.

That ex KGB man, bad Putin, is going to church to pray nowdays. I would take him over that a-hole Obama any day for his patriotism and the determination to keep Russia as well off as he can. I agree. The Polish model is in my opinion unsustainable. A country cannot rely on exporting its population in the millions for a bribe. Or for a fake NATO security. I wish Poland the very best and in some way I like the idea of the US troops there. Except that the US troops are there today and maybe gone tomorrow, but Russia is going to be where it's at - as we say here - forever.

The idea that the US will go to war with Russia over Poland is beyond insane. The US lost Korea, Vietnam, and can't flush the toilet in Afghanistan and go home. I would suggest a small correction to the above sentence:

A country and its citizens should have the final and legally binding say in what happens within their boundaries on matters as critical to the nation's survival.

The hardest thing to explain to those born in the West is that their "democracies" are an illusion and that they are just useful tools, with some, like a typical liberal American voter, being just useful idiots. They are unable and unwilling to accept the idea that they just as powerless to have a say in the most critical decisions as we were under the Soviets.

The problem is that the term "refugee" aquired a new meaning. A refugee, typically a woman with kids, used to be a person who needed a safe place while her homeland was on fire. Once the fire was out, refugees were expected to go back home. Not any more. Like herpies, refugees are forever. It's like a guest that never leaves after the party is over.

Another problem is that if a refugee leaves a shi--- like Guatemala because he was "scared for his life", which, of course, is a damn lie, and is now in Mexico, he is safe.
