Now if Vlad agrees, we have a cease fire, and the war ends pretty quickly after that. Same with a little negotiation on his part. But if he disagrees, then I suspect Trump will load Ukraine with so many missiles that Russians will not be able to withstand the pressure on the front lines, and Trump will completely cut Russia off by imposing sanctions on other countries that do business with Russia, not more sanctions on Russia. This is the exact way to pressure people who only understand pressure.

Vlad knows the time to end this war is now. He wont look good ignoring a cease fire agreement. His own soldiers will start to question his leadership, and every Russian person will start to question things. Russia needs an out, almost as much as Ukraine needs one. Again, this thing is over by the end of June.

I agree, and expect orders for US weapons to decline. But, every NATO country would have to completely re-arm itself to get rid of US made weapons, and this would take decades. It might happen, but it is a long time off, and by then this war will be a distant memory.

Of course, every government has some mob flavor to it. Biden's sure did with all the mass firings over vaccine refusals, and the censorship to name two. Plenty of that mob mentality in the UK with its censorship, and arresting people for saying things others disagree with. Catching up on the arguments presented by people each morning really is quite facinating. On one side you have arguments from rational people trying to make rational and well thought out points, and on the other side you have irrational emotional name calling. Calling Putin, Trump or Russia names just makes the arguments trying to be made laughable. Can Putin be Trusted? No. Can Trump? No. Can Zelensky? Now imagine at these meetings that Ukraine says yes to the mineral deal, and yes to elections once there is a cease fire. Trump calls up Vlad and tells him the news. Vlad accepts the deal and negotiations begin. Or Vlad doesnt accept the deal and Trump says ok, now Ukraine will get their intelligence back and all the missles they will need to decimate your men on the front lines. Imagine the bloodbath and imagine how Putin then looks to his own people. Or imagine Ukraine says no to the deal, and then Russia continues the slaughter in Kursk and across the front lines. Ukraine would eventually collapse.

The thought of the EU being able to build up production of items needs for self defense is pretty funny. Poland with all the empty factories and buildings in this country just ordered more tanks from South Korea. We have had three years to develop a tank factory, and nothing.

Sanctions havent done anything with the Russian shadow oil fleet selling billions every month and the EU buying refined oil and gas from India that came from Russia. Russia is a gas station and always will be. The EU will never give up on low prices for Ukraine that isnt even a member of the EU.

Canada will always side with the US, this little trade spat will be worked out shortly because Canada cant win. Whats funny is that all the lefties who support Ukraine continuing to fight are upset that the US wants no part of it. Yet at the same time they want to make up names and call people names in the US if they dont continue supporting the dying. Any stock fluctuations or small increases in inflation mean nothing to most Americans. Most Americans do not invest in stocks because they cant afford to. They cant afford to buy homes. The United States is not the pretty picture that Hollywood presented to Europe and that many Poles still believe is real life. And if you think wealthy people gavie a $hit about dips in the market or small inflation, then you dont understand truly wealthy people. The middle class in America has been squeezed and reduced to a point that they are the ones who suffer, only there isnt many of them now. Because of policies of the past, America is the land of the haves and have nots. This is what Trump is trying to fix. Europeans will never understand the reasoning behind Trumps mandate.

As an update on the Ukraine demonstrators in Krakow, last night they were back in a smaller number. This time protected by about a dozen police officers with three vans of backup officers parked on the street. While I didnt witness any Poles saying anything, I did ask the bartender I know well and he said it was out of control the night before and that old women and others were telling the Ukraine demonstrators to go home and did throw some things at them.

The majority of people on PF who either dont live in the US, or have not lived in the US the majority of their lives do not know how most Americans think. I dont preseume to understand how Poles think either. There are tremendous differences in values, expressions, and other items that make my understanding Poles as well as another Pole almost impossible. The same goes for Poles understanding Americans. I think it all starts with language and speech. Americans are very direct, Poles are more polite and take more time to ensure that speech is more formal. My direct communication style does not go well with Poles, and honestly I dont care, and thats going to be something most Americans will be comfortable with. Poles on the other hand from an American point of view, slow communication down with too much political correctness or politeness. The United States is not the land of political correct speech, and it is not a place where endless meetings are held, and endless documents must be presented and stamped and stored. Americans want decisions, good or bad, but decisions, and directness. Americans feel no obligation to anyone other than their families. This can be seen in how they handle Canada and Mexico. Europe has benefited from Americans lack of unique identity because the United States is a land of immigrants. As my screen name represents, Americans look for something to connect them to the "old country" and neighborhoods in many communities are still formed in this way. Europeans couldnt understand this because their identities are firmly rooted in thousands of years of history. Thats the basic point of view, though I could go on for a long time.

Meanwhile, Trump now talking about essentially shuting Russia out of all banking if they do not come to the table with serious proposals next week. He says he has information as to why Russia needs to end the war. What it is, no one knows.

I know whats going on better than most. I work in Europe and the US, own property in Poland and the US, and pay taxes in both. People here on PF really do not understand Americans at all. Trump has not betrayed Ukraine, he has kept the faith with the American citizens who want out of the war. They is the only people he needs to be concerned with. You dont have to like him, but you have to respect that he is keeping his promises. Trump doesnt want to leave Europe, he just doesnt want the US to be the main protector of Europe. But for argument sake, say the US does leave the EU. Who does it effect? Not the US. The EU will still want to trade. Does the EU want to invite China (communism) into the EU in any way? I dont think so. Remember that 90% of Americans will never leave the United States, and less than 5% will ever travel to Europe. The 5% that do come will still come because they can afford it, the rest will go to Mexico. People forget the US is a very big country with different climates, and lots of things to see. I can see most of Poland in two weeks, you cant even cover the north east effectively in two weeks in the US.

Correct. It would have happened under PiS if it was going to happen in my opinion. I dont see Poland developing a nuke on their own for one big reason. There is no place to test it. There is also a lack of Uranium due to USSR taking almost everything in the 40's and 50's for their own nukes. Dont underestimate the US loyalty to Poland. As fvcked up as the US is on a lot of things, Poland has always been respected, and the number of Americans with Polish ancestry is pretty large. The Solidarity movement was a serious thing in the US when it came about, and no one born in that time would ever be ok with the US not protecting Poland. That is the largest voting block in the country and the group with the most wealth.

All the tough talk from the EU is pretty pointless because it will take years for the EU to put together armies and munitions for another war. France's nukes wont be protecting Europe they will continue to protect France only. The UK nukes wont protect Europe either so that reason and they only have a few hundred on submarines.

PF can be operated in a new format with modern hosting and software for about $40 US per month. If you have the right hosting and software that updates itself, it is minimal effort to maintain. The only issue is migrating all the old posts and topics to new software, not all if any will likely transfer. This is a data driven site, and the import functions on new software may not work with this. Hosting contracts with the right companies are monthly at best and annually at worst. Moderators should be volunteer, and noe should have access to any persons identifying information. PF has a long way to go to meet higher standards in many respects.

The speed of scheduling in the US is why they went. Dont know what it would be like for private in Canada, and I dont know if thats an option in their hospitals. While I generally hate the for profit hospital model in the US, in cases like this, it certainly beats anything in Canada.

I work a lot with Canadians, and those I know do not think the Canadian level of living is better than the US. The healthcare is a disaster. I have colleague who had to go to the US and pay out of pocket for a heart surgery that he was on a nine month wait list for in Canada. In the US, it was scheduled in a week.

If you spent 2 weeks in Canada you dont understand Canadians. 4 years in the US does not make you an expert either. Like I am not an expert on Poland after six years. Do you know how many Canadians already own property in the US? How many Americans own Canadian property? These two countries could easily merge, and Canadians would be a lot better off for it. Canadians get destroyed on the exchange rates, pay much higher taxes, and have much higher inflation. Put it to a vote, and it wouold be pretty close. 5K in crypto is a lot more than I expected from you. I have been trading crypto for years, trading is different than holding or investing. Holding or investing in crypto is not very smart, it is too volitile.

No one is invading Greenland. But now it looks like Greenland will make the move to be independent from Denmark.
