The US is 31 precent of exports, not 31 percent of sales. Europe's domestic markets for wine are far larger per head than the US where wine is treated with open suspicion anywhere that is not on the coast.

Of course Europe could not win a military conflict with the US, but it can certainly win a trade war. It has a higher population and a higher spending power and higher exports. I don't know why golden cow went down this route - because he keeps escalating and then backing down, and it makes him look weak and unprepared.
