News / SHOULD POLAND HAVE NUKES?? [154]

I agree and that's why Obama+Medvedev has been making gestures to get rid of them. Well, downscale them rather. Israel having them could be the biggest danger.

News / SHOULD POLAND HAVE NUKES?? [154]

Well, the stakes are high. However, Iran having them would really shake things up.

Which country really needs nukes? Arguments can go round in circles but that's the key question.

I suggest that you check out disparities over the last 3 years, convex. It might make for interesting reading.

A bit of both. I get the feeling that Tusk/Kommie will want to make those poor mohair berety pay for their histrionics. Farmers will get whacked.

Let's bring it back, then. Tusk and Kommie are making western Poland richer and eastern Poland poorer. Saying that Poles are getting rich is only half the story.

Some are, some aren't. Many are a long way off being part of any nouveau-riche culture. Don't believe Marek Konrad's propaganda ;) ;)

Life / POLISH MYTHS - let's debunk or prove them! [141]

Some see being Polish as a myth in and of itself. I often get this 'we are the most enigmatic people on Earth' vibe. You can see it on PF too. If you know Polish history, you can understand why some are as they are. Nothing too deep about it!

History / What do Poles think about Turks? [761]

Poles tend not to think beyond kebabs. They can't profit from the Turks so they leave them alone.

It was quite nice, a bit of an acquired taste. Is raki that diverse? There are many types of vodka.

Poles are very traditional from custom and also conservative through church beliefs/indoctrination. They tend to stick with known paths and are more homogeneous than most I have come into contact with.

Sneaky? People from any country can be sneaky and Poles are no exception. I've been on the receiving end of sneakiness here.

Well, I can only interpret from comments online but I am cautious of those that are too polite to me. Poles are liberal??? What??

Well, the Catholic faith is a major one, rock. Turkey is far more secular.

What else? In all my dealings with Turkish people (online chess a lot), they are always polite. There is not this guarantee here at all with Poles.

There appears to be a greater embracing of diversity amongst Turks. They are very different as people in their appearance too.

Love / 20% of adult Poles are single and live with Mummy! [241]

I'm surprised the rate isn't higher. Birds of a feather flock together and like attracts like. Closeters like to be in amongst other closeters in this Us Vs Them world that is emerging. Those that love others that have the same label yet don't question.

Also, as more and more Poles return to Poland with their set-up capital, they will need a temporary place to stay before getting the ball rolling.

Pol3, please stop sidetracking with religious stuff. This thread is not for that. Poles perhaps go for closeness because they know that rolling the dice and going abroad necessarily involves fragmentation so they want to keep things tight-knit here. They are like the Borg in that way. They leave for the UK but most of the time spend dreaming about being back with family.

Poles and Turks have a different mentality in ways but there never appears to be any animosity. The quieter Poles tend to get on with the Turks here very well.

Who said anything about illicit, Pol3? I was talking about people that cohabit until they feel that the time is right to tie the knot. I did it for a long time and it worked well. Why are you so judgemental? It doesn't always come back to being Catholic either, btw. My wife isn't a Catholic but societal pressure played its part. Life isn't black&white, Pol3.

Being closeted from real world realities

Not realising how dependent they were before they left the nest in the first place

A mix of the above factors that you mentioned too. It depends on the case.
