News / Will PiS be happy if AfD wins elections in Germany? [575]

To be sure, Scholz is rightly against the US far right aka J.D. Vance
interfering in German politics! Germany has enough headaches with
the AfD, it doesn't need the likes of Vance to make things worse.

USA, Canada / Censorship and violation of 1st Amendment in US [147]

Face facts, folks, Trump is a dictator and decries the very democracy that got him into office in the first place!!
He and his ilk have no place in our society, never did, never will. He's a cancer on the American body politic
and is best eliminated....democratically, of course:-)

News / How will Polish-American relations change if Trump is elected president again? [634]

Tell me about it!!

Ever wonder whether or not all that Monica Lewinsky stuff came out
just around the time Clinton announced that he was considering
universal health care, as exists in Canada, Sweden along with certain
other more developed countries??

Same with that Tony Wiener scandal in New York. About the time during
which Wiener was seriously thinking about investigating the truth about
9/11, Breitbart news broke the story of his alleged affair with an under-age
teenage girl.

Kinda smells, doesn't it, every time the Republicans put their thumb in something
which really benefits the common man.

News / How will Polish-American relations change if Trump is elected president again? [634]

Speaking of pharmaceuticals, guys, Trumpo's tariffs on Chinese goods
will include cheap medicines from that country, meaning the quality
will diminish and Americans who can only afford cut-rate goods will
find their lives cut short because of the US government cutting corners
once again.

We're quickly becoming a eugenic-driven society where we have a president
who's getting stuff done at break neck speed, which though doesn't need to get done,
or even to have been started!!

Polonia / Elon Musk tells Germans to "move on"! [193]

He was plenty competent, Rich, merely becoming senile, that's all.
Think you're confusing Biden with former president Gerald R. Ford,
about whom people joked, the couldn't talk and chew gum at the same time!

Ford was a Rep., by the way:-)

You're so right about that, Metra!
Again, hope your prof. is an English native speaker. Had
an experience in high school with an Armenian-born math
teacher who learned English as an adult and we could barely understand him.

Guess the school was cutting corners. Always wondered why our American-born
and bred math instructor left and was replaced by some greenhorn.

Polonia / Elon Musk tells Germans to "move on"! [193]

A former lawyer, congressman, senator... Yes, I'd say so.
He certainly made missteps in his long career, e.g. the Anita Hill
hearings, where as junior senator from Maryland, he really
lambasted Hill on the stand. Then there was that intern thing....

However, on the whole, Biden didn't serve as president with
childish glee, trying to see how much chaos he could cause
while leaving others to clean up his mess, as compared with
the current Buzzard - in - Chief.

The way he works a crowded room, he missed his calling as
a Borscht Belt comic. He's got the timbre in his voice, almost
like Groucho Marx and he's nasty to boot!

@Rich, I never said that qualified experts are perfect, did I?

Polonia / Elon Musk tells Germans to "move on"! [193]

As I've always maintained, the minute the MAGOT-Republicans got back into
the White House, Proud boy wannabes etc., cronyism returns and competence
goes right out the window!

Albeit far from "perfect", at least in former administrations, the likes of Dean Rusk,
Acheson, Ted Sorensen, Bob McNamara etc. were imminently qualified for their
jobs, any number holding doctoral degrees and having background for their jobs,
even if being a well-born W.A.S.P didn't hurt either:-)

But this crowd??! Gaetz barely missed not getting confirmed, but RFK, Pam Bondi
and most others are real greenies. Again, being a maverick in office a la Sarah Palin
can only go so far.

Problem is that practically none of Trump's appointees to date are
qualified for their positions!

He and Vance seem to prefer sex offenders or avowed racists...or both LOL

While I don't necessarily expect central casting figures, being only a maverick
isn't always the answer.

Just curious.

@Paulina, it's customary when someone applies to a particular university
program in another country to congratulate them, no?

@Metra, best of luck with your Polish. However, if your prof. is a native English
speaker, then I suppose it won't be necessary to know Polish.

Polonia / Elon Musk tells Germans to "move on"! [193]

Rich, I never implied or stated that every gov't. program meets with my approval, did I?
No. Therefore, why throw the baby out with the proverbial bathwater??

As George Bailey said in "It's a Wonderful Life", to paraphrase, it's the middle class who
do most of the living and dying in our community! Is it too much to ask that they live and/or
die in some semblance of comfortable surroundings?

This thinking was prevalent during the immediate post-War years, up through the mid-'70's.
Then The Reagan Counter Revolution all but destroyed all of such hopes and dreams.

Frank Capra, above all FRD, must have been turning over in their graves!

Polonia / Elon Musk tells Germans to "move on"! [193]

@Rich,
The US doesn't need a specific government body devoted to business efficiency!
The ineluctable eugenic conclusion of such thinking is that certain Americans are
simply born and bred entrepreneurs who will success no matter who's in office,
therefore, to hell in a handbasket with the rest of those deemed too slow or just
incapable of keeping up with "progress" or "regress" as the case may be.

This is all a direct result of Reaganism, a derivative of that EST (Erhard Seminar Training)
jazz I've already mentioned here ad nauseum. The question is not "Why aren't you a mega-
billionaire ten times over?", but rather, what is YOUR particular skill set and how can the society
make the best, most profitable, use of it. Everyone has a comfortable place in society as we once
had, be it the bagger at a Walmart or the CEO of Microsoft. Of course the earning scale will be
different, granted. However, need those less talented in all areas be made to feel as though their
contribution is worth nothing??

Not all Americans are natural born math genii or creative accountants. When ordinary folks began
being penalized for what they weren't instead of rewarded forwhat they were, this is when things started getting
dicey and "just plain folks" tragically started taking matters into their own hands, egged on, not by
inbred criminality, but by frustration that the United States was brazenly, smugly passing them by
in a brave new world order which marginalizes individual achievement, solely in favor of the Zuckerbergs,
Bezos' and the rest of those who ignore standard and quality.

Polonia / Elon Musk tells Germans to "move on"! [193]

Musk and his D.O.G.E., not to be confused with the rulers of Renaissance Venice,
are as much a disgrace to America as the Felon-in-Chief himself!!

Elon Musk isn't even a US citizen, who sounds somewhat foreign when he
speaks, aligns himself with Germany's AfD ("unofficially", of course), and wants
to slash and burn at his boss' every whim.

Reminds me a little of that Al Dunlap character back in the '90's, or even
the late former Reagan appointee, Don Rumsfeld, so-called efficiency
experts, who eliminated entire corporate department for questionable
reasons and put uncounted Americans out of work. Many never found
jobs again, or at best, at pay far below their background.

Off-Topic / Why does Geddy Lee hate Poland? [105]

That explains it!

Since when is "Poland is about the largest of any country..." = Polska jest prawie najwiekniejszym krajem w Europie.." anti-Polish?!
Either there's a point of Polish culture which makes it insulting for foreigners to praise Polish size or you've got a screw loose (..czy
jestes wariatem). Probably a combination of both.

Thank you, Ron! At least you have some sense....in a way:-)

@Alien, Poland's not little!
As you must be aware, alongside France and Spain,
Poland has about the largest landmass of any country
on the European Continent.

Polonia / Elon Musk tells Germans to "move on"! [193]

...then why bother posting it?? LOL

@Marrakesh, you seemed to have missed the point! Roosevelt
decided not to bomb the railway connections to Auschwitz because
of a virulent anti-Semitic contingent in the US Congress, led principally
by the likes of Messrs. Breckenridge Long, Rankin, Bilbow and their cohorts
in the Senate.

An attempt had already been made on FDR's life in 1935 or thereabouts,
assassinating the mayor of Chicago instead. Roosevelt didn't want to
fall to the assassin's bullet a second time. He was between a rock and a
hard place; appease Hitler, and the Left would cry that he's kowtowing to the
Nazis, fight the Nazis, and the Right would have said he's succumbing to Jewish pressure groups, such as intimated by Norman
Thomas and the (original) America Firsters, among others. FDR was damned if he
did and damned if he didn't.

Polonia / Elon Musk tells Germans to "move on"! [193]

Not the old German film with Ferdinand Marian directed by Veit Harlan, surely!! Marrakesh, you must be older than the hills, as
that film came out in around 1942.

If you read through the original agenda of the Wannsee Conference, you will see that Heydrich, Eichmann and the rest of the participants
PLANNED on killing off 11,000,000 Jews throughout entire occupied Europe. They only got away with around 6,000,000. Had the Allies not
forced Germany to surrender, the Nazis might well have achieved their horrific goal.

Rich, Jews have been hated throughout the millenia because they were seen as interfering with the
plans of Pontius Pilate to expand the Roman Empire, later, by the Catholic Church based on the myth
of the Jews murdering Jesus.

Polonia / Elon Musk tells Germans to "move on"! [193]

@Marrakesh,
Once again, I draw your attention to the words "planned extermination"!
Furthermore, as I had an opportunity to witness first hand the original minutes
of the Wannsee Conference at the memorial site in the Villa Wannsee itself,
I'm clearly in a better position to judge the authenticity of my information than you.

In addition, I had the misfortune of having once watched the infamous documentary
by Reichsfilmkommissar Dr. Fritz Hippler, "Der ewige Jude" (The Eternal Jew), the
cinematic blue print for the Shoah, you didn't.

Therefore, I advise you to kindly refrain from commenting on matters of which you
have no knowledge! Who do you think you are anyway, Donald Trump??
