In a saner world, spot on, JR. In the Western padded room we live in, not even close! Things MUST be equal no matter what. At least for a while. Once that hurdle is behind, it's time to cough out some serious dough for the past inequalities if you are a woman or reparations if your skin pigment has some brown in it - even if you can't spell or place Africa on the map.

Precisely my experience. To add to that "why am I here" feeling, all the familiar places are gone and so are the people; either dead or you can't find them. Not that they would be thrilled to see an American who is clearly better off or will claim to be. Not much fun having that conversation for either side. So, it's just the streets and restaurants.

"Normandy" landing with its 4000 dead on day one, was the biggest bullsh** ever and a colossal waste of men and money.

If the US abstained, Germany would continue controlling Western Europe and make it a lot better than what it became. Eventually, just like the USSR, Germany would evolve and let go, having made Europe peaceful, prosperous and all white.
