There are rarely official mass marches with burning US flags....neither the Saudis nor the UAE plan to destroy the West with self made nukes...quite the contrary, both are also hard core enemies of Iran!

Teheran is not known for clever foreign policies...making enemies left and right....I guess that will be their downfall, sooner or later.
The one "friend", Putin's Russia, has been also astoundigly quiet during the last days, not helping much. I guess Putin knows also more than we do!

I had rather the living conditions in mind....the fear of an allpowerful rulership.....which just kills any dissenters if they didn't already left the country.....the strict following of a holy book....the worshipping of declared "saints", the demonization of any other opinion...etc....such things....the real-day life of the common people under it, their forced lack of choices!

PS: Just some thoughts....

I wouldn't believe the official propagated pictures by Teheran so much, the ones with burning US-flags and "death to Israel" posters!
Because I also remember the huge parade for the 40th anniversary of the founding of the GDR....if you knew nothing of the reality in this country you would see only a strong marching military, cheering crowds waving GDR-Flags etc.....you could think they all truly loved their leaders and that oppressive system and stood fully behind all this....well....that parade was at 7th October 1989....only a few weeks later the people danced on the teared down Berlin Wall...free of the SED system at last...making their real, true opinions seen for everybody.

I can't help compare that situation to the Iran of today...I don't believe these official anti-West demonstrations in Teheran either!

I dunno.....I remember the time before 1989 and how very much many of us back then at the wrong side of the wall wished for some more foreign influence to get rid of the party baggage in East-Berlin!

And how would you call "West-Radio" or "West-TV", free information, uncontrollable by the leaders, which played a huge role anyhow....

I'm fairly sure that many, many Iranians also hope right now for some more foreign interfering, but yeah...in the end they must do their part too!

Erm....even if that would be the truth, my belief is in Israel that they bomb them back to the stone age before they let that happen.

IMHO its the other way around.... the decision by Trump to not support Israel in that way anymore might have swayed Netanjahu to give the nod to this attack...it might have been different if the US would still be ready and willing to be a player in the ME....

There has been intense talks shortly before between Washington and Jerusalem....and the Pentagon knew everything ("Pizza night"), but they did nothing. I guess that's how its going from now on!
