There was no NATO during World War II and the US only joined the war after it was attacked by Japan. It was a world war, not just European war. And people were fighting against f*cking EVIL and not for some European interests or for oil. Our grandfathers were fighting not only for their countries, but for a world without Nazis.

If you think the US needs Germany as a hub, you dont know much about the US military.

I don't have to think it - that's the reality - Germany is a hub for the US. Europe is generally a good, safe and stable operational base for the US to protect its interests on this side of the globe. So don't tell me those American bases are in Europe only to protect Europe, because this is bullsh1t.

And when did you ever hear an American complain that Europe didnt give enough aid to the US?

Trumpists complain about Europe ALL THE TIME o_O You behave as if all the US ever did it did for Europe and Europe never did ANYTHING for the US. Sorry, but we will be pointing out that this is not true.

That would all depend on the behaviour and credibility of the rest of NATO, imho. Also, we can't be 100% neutral while being a member of the EU - we have to look out at least to some extent for the well being and interests of other EU countries, because we're all in it together.

We share many values with the majority of the countries that are part of NATO and the EU. For me the most important one is democracy. I think that with the anti-democratic powers on the rise in the world it's better (or even crucial) for us to stick together. 🤔 W kupie siła - Poland is stronger in the EU and NATO and the EU and NATO is stronger with Poland.

Don't get me wrong - it would be nice to be completely neutral, I guess, but with such neighbour like RuSSia - I'm afraid that's impossible/dangerous.

Poland will never get consent to this, neither from the Americans nor from the russians.

If Americans will abandon us then they will have nothing to say on this matter. And RuSSia can stuff it - they didn't ask us for our consent when they were getting their nukes lol o_O

Wait a minute... Since when Poles have been "ungrateful"? Or who are you talking about?
As for the US being "unreliable" - well, sorry to burst your bubble or sth, but due to our historical experiences we've learnt not to put too much trust in alliances... And the US isn't looking very reliable these days, so what's your problem with this view exactly?

The US owes Europe nothing, the Europe who owes the US for 80 years of protection. Its Europe that owes NATO, not the US.

The only time the NATO's Article 5 was invoked was by the US. You "owe" us our soldiers' lives and health, if anything. Although I don't think we view it in "owning" terms, since we're allies (supposedly), but since you keep talking about "owning"...

I realise that Europe got too comfy with the US protection, but I'd just like to point out that it's not like the US isn't benefitting from it in any way.

Germany is a hub for U.S. operations in the Middle East and Africa, for example.

The Rammstein base is the largest US air force base in Europe with the largest American military hospital outside of the United States. From this base is where US combat drone operations around the world are commanded. Whenever American (or Polish, etc.) soldiers got seriously injured in Afghanistan they would get transported to the Rammstein hospital to be operated on. And Germany is covering the costs related to American bases operating on their soil - I don't know what's the extent exactly, but it's not like it's completely cost-free for European taxpayers. 🤔

As for Greenland, the news I read was over a week ago.

The situation was actually more scary than that. So what happened? What could be the other reason for a wheel to fall off?

They use the jack to lift the car so they can slide the dolly underneath. Then they can roll the car wherever they want.

Yes, but they used the second one, because the wheel on the other side got a flat tire:

Well, if the car is viewed as a danger (it's on the road and not in a ditch, for example) firefighters in Poland have to remove it, from what I understand. 🤔 It's not the case in the UK?

The car appears to be missing a wheel on the passenger side and there doesn't appear to be anyone in the vehicle.

Yes, they're moving it off the road! :) It wasn't due to breakdown though, so what happened? Why the wheel would fall off?

Btw, for moving the car they used those thingies with wheels that I think are called car wheel dolly jack (?) in English. Can you guess why they would need two of those for one car?:

Odessa was founded as a Russian city

Well, there were earlier settlements in that place - since the times of ancient Greece actually. It was in the possession of the Grand Dutchy of Lithuania since at least 1415 and then it was taken by the Ottoman Empire and after that it was taken by Cossacks for RuSSia only at the end of 18th century and at that time it was renamed from Turkish Khadjibey to Odessa by Catherine II.

and will continue to be a Russian city.
