News / Abortion still under control in Poland - part 2 [379]

Except for the fact we weren't talking about a woman's life being in danger now were we. (...) We were debating rape and abortions for convenience.

No, we were discussing abortion after rape. That's why I wrote:

"The point of contention is what are those situations that warrant abortion."

Are you against abortion if the woman's health (not only life) is in danger?

Are you against abortion after incest rape?

Are you OK with even young girls being forced to give birth after rape?

After eight weeks a fetus is considered a human.

So? Doctors are still obliged to prioritise the mother's life over the baby's after eight weeks of pregnancy.

Again, abortion is not a choice, it is murder.

Then according to people like you it is also a murder when abortion is saving the mother's life or health. That was my point.

... influenced by the people I mentioned.

Or by the actual teachings of Christ? Sorry, Torq, but I think you're an idiot.

you follow almost 2000 years of traditional Church's teachings and the Bible

Then the Bible doesn't state anywhere that a mother isn't allowed to abort her own baby.

And as for Romans 13:4 - Paul just states that people should obey the government and its laws, which is... stupid? Because what about evil governments and evil laws? Should people obey Nazi and Stalinist governments and laws then? 🤦

I really can't stand those heartless people

...who have more empathy for a few cells than for a fully developed human being who's suffering.
People like you who want to punish women for getting abortion after rape should be raped multiple times by multiple men in the most disgusting, humiliating and violent ways for a prolonged period of time. Maybe then you'd develop some empathy and compassion not only for a fetus, but also for raped women and girls. 🤮

News / Abortion still under control in Poland - part 2 [379]

I agree but Torq is taking the moral high ground here and as a devout Catholic he cannot justifiably argue that one life is worth more than another.

Yes, people like him make me laugh lol They pick what they want from their religions and at the same time consider themselves "good Christians/Muslims/Jews, etc." and sh1t on those people who don't make the same "pickings" as them :D 🤦

the Church made a mistake of allowing itself to be infuenced by masons, protestants, leftards and other retards, and shifted its position to anti death penalty.

John Paul II would be surprised to know that he was "a mason, a protestant, leftard and a retard" :D

pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/angel/procon/popestate.html

"While the vast majority of U.S. Catholics support capital punishment, Pope John Paul II has declared the Church's near total opposition to the death penalty. In his encyclical "Evangelium Vitae" (The Gospel of Life) issued March 25, 1995 after four years of consultations with the world's Roman Catholic bishops, John Paul II wrote that execution is only appropriate "in cases of absolute necessity, in other words, when it would not be possible otherwise to defend society. Today, however, as a result of steady immprovement in the organization of the penal system, such cases are very rare, if not practically nonexistent."

Btw, Torq, if you are in favour of death penalty then
that means that in your worldview not all human life is sacred and not only God has the right to decide who lives or dies. But that means the lives of unborn children aren't sacred either.

Because 0.1% pregnancies pose danger, let's allow abortion with no limits. Right?

That's clearly not what I wrote, so don't play dumber than you are.

It was my response to what johnny_reb wrote about abortion: "Murder is not a choice nor is it ethical."

My point was that there are instances in which even people like you, johnny_reb and Torq support or at least don't oppose "murdering unborn babies" - when the mother's life or health is in danger and abortion is necessary, right?
It is generally accepted by both parents, societies and probably majority of religions in the world that the mother's life is more important than that of an unborn baby.
Noone normal expects the pregnant woman to
sacrifice her life for an unborn baby. And if she has other kids already and would decide to do that anyway - she would be critised for that.

What I've noticed is that the attitude of people completely changes once the baby is born. Then both parents and the society views the vhil's life as even more important than that of a parent. Both (normal, loving parents) are ready to die for their kids. If someone needs saving from a dangerous situation people choose to save kids first.
So there's a difference in how people view a baby
when it's in the womb and once it's out of the womb.
Interesting, isn't?

Yes, some people need to catch up with the abortion / unborn laws:

Of course there are laws concerning unborn children at a y state of development. For me the issue here is not whether a fetus is a human being, because it obviously isn't a Castor anything else. The issue also isn't about whether an unborn baby has the
right to live or not. The thing is, in certain situations, as I think we all agree, the mother's rights/well-being take priority over the unborn baby's rights/life. The point of contention is what are those situations that warrant abortion.

That's all for now, I'll get back to commenting on
the rest when I feel like wasting my time on cruel,
heartless people. 😢

but is it safe considering the Russian-Ukrainian war?

Yes, Poland is one of the safest countries in Europe apparently.

Do Polish people travel through Poland without any fear?

Are you serious? ;D

Where are you from, btw?

Because you are an idiot

And a pathological liar at that.

it isn't the only thing that rabbinic Judaism gets wrong. :)

Says who? You? lol So you're the God Almighty now? :)))

Murder is not a choice nor is it ethical.

It is - that's an ethical choice doctors have to make every time a pregnant woman's life is in danger due to pregnancy. If terminating pregnancy (aka "murdering the unborn baby") is the only way to save the woman's life doctors are obligated by the law to save the woman. This is also the society's general expectation. The pregnant woman's life is considered more important than that of an unborn baby.

also justify the murder of the child, makes no sense at all. They are so brainwashed by the hedonistic civilisation of death

And yet on this very page you wrote that you are in favour of death penalty for a second time rapist.

Since I was a kid I was raised in this Christian conviction that all human life is sacred and a human has no right to decide who deserves to live or die. Only God can decide about this.

And yet it's usually right-wing, conservative, supposedly religious Catholics (usually men from what I've noticed) who are in favour of death penalty. Even though the Catholic Church is against it. Make it make sense...

You're hypocrites.

News / Abortion still under control in Poland - part 2 [379]

I thought I was talking to a woman named Paulina but apparently I am talking to God Almighty who can decide whether somebody is or isn't a human being.

It seems you missed that part where I wrote that not all people are religious. There are people who don't believe in God Almighty.

But if you want to talk religion then... the Bible doesn't prohibit anywhere an intentional abortion performed by the mother or on her request.

Another thing... For example, Rabbinic Judaism doesn't consider a fetus a full human being (a quote from Wikipedia):

"In the reading of Biblical homicide laws, rabbinic sages argue that homicide concerns an animate human being (nefesh adam from Lev. 24:17) alone, not an embryo... because the embryo is not a person (lav nefesh hu)."

Oh... it MIGHT ... IF...

Yes, this 'might' and 'if' convinced me - the child should be murdered.

No, the decision should be made by the rape victim. Just like your wife women usually think about those things beforehand. How they would handle the rape, how they would handle giving birth to the rapist's child. Those women who can't handle it should be allowed to get an abortion.

Oh, yes... FEELINGS...
(...)
Do you even think before you write

Maybe you should ask the Rabbinical Assembly Committee this question then lol: 🤦

"The Rabbinical Assembly Committee on Jewish Law and Standards has ruled that an abortion is justifiable if a continuation of pregnancy might cause the woman severe physical or psychological harm, or if the fetus is judged by competent medical opinion as severely defective"

(Source: Wikipedia)

So, as you can see even among religious people there are different opinions on this matter.

"solve" the problem by adding another trauma of murdering your own child on top of it. Mind boggles.

The mind boggles that you can't comprehend that there are women who would suffer a greater trauma from being forced to give birth to a rapists' child than after terminating a few days pregnancy o_O

As a matter of fact I did. My wife is a good Christian and she is of the same opinion.

With all respect to your wife - she was never raped, right? Imho, you never really know until this happens to you. I don't know what I would do myself. And I hope I and your wife and your daughter will never find out.
Paulina

News / Abortion still under control in Poland - part 2 [379]

- not because they might cause someone a trauma

I disagree. Nowadays I think that the well-being of a woman or a girl is more important for me than the existence of a cluster of cells. It should be the woman's/girl's decision. That's the end of story for me already.

You just don't murder children.

It is terrifying that one even has to say such thing.

Not everyone is religious though and not everyone views a cluster of cells as a "child".

That's why children need good nurture to properly utilise their natural inclinations.

Well, yes, but children "from rape" may often not get that. And what are you going to do about it? Will you adopt them? No, you won't.

Yes, we see that all you women put yourselves first

As I wrote - men just don't get raped often enough. Really, you don't.

Empty some of your P.M.'s in your mailbox as it is full

And why would I do that?

How selfish can you get.

You're the type of a man that cares more about religion than about your wife or daughter. A type better avoided, imho.

That would depend on what kind of rape you are referring to.

A gang-rape by a few men who just got out of prison done in the most humiliating and violent manner that gets your anus ruptured to the point that you can't sh1t in a normal way. That kind of rape :) How about you experience something like that and then get back to me about having to give birth to a kid of one of those monsters.

Btw:

Stop this Waffen-SS "faulty genes" talk, Paulina.

That's funny coming from you - I remember how you wrote that women who don't want to have children must be genetically "faulty" - that it's nature's way of stopping them from procreating.

That's a very sexist thing to say. Tsk-tsk...

Why? Maybe if men got raped more often (by men, not women) they would show more understanding, empathy and Christian compassion towards raped women, girls and kids.
Paulina

News / Abortion still under control in Poland - part 2 [379]

Yes, I would, I am not a child murderer, and I would raise it to be a good man/woman.

Did you talk to your wife about it?

A bloodthirsty beast who would murder an innocent child for something that its father did?

It's not about that. It's about prioritising the well-being of your wife or daughter.

Surely you can see that it's illogical.

No, it isn't. Biology isn't enough to make a parent, as I'm sure you realise. Look at all those "baby daddies."

I know of women who aren't capable of loving and properly taking care of their rapists' kids and even those who seem to resent them. Sorry, but human psychology isn't always as "logical" as you would like it to be.

Don't be such a nazi! It is mostly nurture not nature that makes a human being.

Maybe, but I've seen a documentary about it and violent behaviour is actually passed down in the genes. Of course, it's not only about "nature," it's also about "nurture", but women usually don't want to raise their rapists' kids and so those kids are likely to end up in orphanages where those bad genes could get triggered. That's the reality and not wishful thinking.

News / Abortion still under control in Poland - part 2 [379]

Or keep it.

Keep it? You'd keep a kid of a man who raped your wife?

It is, after all, also her baby

No, it isn't. In the raped woman's mind it often isn't her baby, because she didn't consent to it.

That would be my stance if it happened to my daughter.

What if it happened to your wife?

We are not murderers - neither my daughter nor me.

Imho, it's easy to say it if it didn't happen to your daughter or wife. And what if it did happen to one of them and the thought of the rapists baby growing inside her would traumatise her even more and she wouldn't want to give birth to it? Would you force your daughter, for example, to have it anyway?

Btw, Torq, I used to have a similar opinion to you about abortion after rape. Even on this forum I argued against it. But with age came more understanding and empathy towards raped women and it's not so simple for me anymore. So nowadays I'm glad that women in Poland have the option not to give out the rapists' seed with his faulty genes into this world and may it stay like this forever.

A side thought - it looks like men just don't get raped often enough.

Dates, please.

1492, 1500, 1507, 1558, 1577, 1632, 1654 (the second longest war in Polish history, in the same time also Sweden invaded the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth - known as Deluge), 1733, 1772+1793+1795 (the partitions), 1794+1830+1863 (Polish uprisings), 1919, 1939.

Just as you are afraid of a Russian invasion...

Not really, unless your neighbours experienced a violent home invasion in the last few years during which your neighbour was killed, his wife raped and their house partially burned with their kids traumatised for the rest of their lives.

Paranoia but only about Russia...Germans are cuddly kittens...

Yes, unlike RuSSians, Germans haven't invaded their neighbours since the end of WWII - that's 80 years already.

Will you answer my question ?

but in everyday usage people just say 'herbata'...

Not where I live... If you visit someone's home here and they ask you "Tea or coffee?" they usually mean some regular tea and not tea made from nettle with mango or whatever :)) If they want to offer you something else than a regular tea (most often black tea) then they'll specify that they have green tea, herbal tea, flavoured tea, etc.

there's also ziółka but I don't think I've heard it in real life...

Because people usually say specific name of whatever home remedies they need at the moment - "rumianek", "mięta", "melisa", etc.

I can only speak for the Poles I know over here and not one of them has ever drank black tea when I've been around.

Interesting, do you know which parts of Poland they come from?

That's the data concerning drinking tea and coffee in Poland from 2014 article:

portalspozywczy.pl/napoje/wiadomosci/polacy-pija-chetniej-kawe-czy-herbate-zestawienie-badan-rynkowych,106979.html

"Tea is one of Poland's most popular drinks - 98% of Poles declare drinking it on regular basis. We drink only water more often. (...)
In Europe only Ireland (2.18 kg), the UK (1,93 kg) and RuSSia (1.38 kg) are ahead of us. (...)
On the world stage Poles are on the 9th place ahead of such countries like Japan, China or Saudi Arabia where tea is considered as a national drink.
(...)
We pick most often black tea (58.9%), herbal tea (14.2%), Earl Grey (10.2%), green tea (8.1%) and fruit tea (7.1%)."

I wouldn't wear them but have to admit they're very cute :):)

Yeah, not my style either, but I love that fake mini food stuff - I could own them just to look at them :)))

Russia left Poland 30 years ago but you still freak out...

Yeah, and why did it leave Poland? Because it stayed against the will of Polish people.

I am just having fun with the idiots who believe that they have rights, not handouts...

You are an old lonely man noone wants to talk to in real life who's so afraid of a home invasion that he keeps a gun on every floor of the house.

My robbers will be nice and me turning the lights on will get them running. Sure...

I realise it's probably difficult for Americans to understand what it's like to live in a country as safe as Poland if they haven't lived here and experienced it themselves.

You keep your rights, high crime rates and mass shootings and we'll keep our "handouts" while living in a safe country with low crime rates and no mass shootings :)

Law / Gun control in Poland: should Polish people be allowed to own guns? - part 2 [54]

You can't say "that's a a lie" if it's your own claim.

It's your claim, not mine.

It was you and other geniuses who said that you are not allowed to carry guns.

I haven't said that. You can carry a gun if you have a proper license for it.

If you are not allowed to carry them, you are not allowed to defend yourself with them.

You are allowed to defend yourself with other tools though.

Only a Polish woman can be that stupid.

Noone can outdo you in your stupidity - man or woman lol

No matter how often and how much you keep insulting me - you can't change facts. And the facts are that Poland is much safer than the US and majority of Poles don't feel the need to own a gun and they are against more liberal gun laws.

According to a CBOS poll from 2022 70% of Poles are against more liberal gun laws:

Law / Polish Police and Their Tactics [237]

...including an illegal gun?

I suppose so, but you'd still get arrested for owning an illegal gun.

Or is Polish law so idiotic that you have match weapon for weapon...He has knife so you can only use a knife, not a sword...

Are you blind, purposefully obtuse or retarded? I already wrote in my previous comment that according to Polish law you don't have to "match weapon for weapon".

Those are weasel words we use to make thing impersonal and statistically insignificant. Well...guess what...shlt happens...even if it's rare...Do you have a fire extinguisher?

You mean at my place? No, I don't have a fire extinguisher (and I don't know anyone who does).
Those are not "weasel words" - that's simply the reality. Yes, sh1t happens, but because it's so rare the risk is low and people are ready to live with such low risk. Car accidents happen and yet majority of people drive their cars on the roads every day anyway.

I am talking about you, at 2 am, and when the scumbags are on drugs so they don't give a damn

My first question would be - if they're so high that they don't care then how would they be able to get into my place in the first place.

Secondly - robbers high on drugs breaking into ordinary people's houses to steal stuff must be something very rare in Poland, because I haven't heard about such cases.

And if it did somehow happen and they would be trying to get into the place without caring that someone's inside then police's advice is not to confront the robbers, but find a safe space (go to your neighbours, for example) and call the police.

If you ask Google to translate this shlt, your PC will burst into flames. Poles are insane.

You must be a special kind of moron then, because I asked Google to translate that legal text into English and apart from one mistake it's all understandable.

But even if it wasn't understandable I summed up it for you in one sentence in my #217 post:
"You can use anything available to you at the moment."

To go further into details of the Polish law concerning self-defence - if someone is attacking you with fists, you can use a knife to repel the attack. If someone is attacking you with a knife and you have a gun, you can use a gun. So you can use a tool that is giving you an advantage over the attacker. Get it?

have you heard about something called "a house"?

Cms_neuf doesn't live in a house though.

Asasume it's dark and there are two guys trying to break in through a window.

If those are thieves then in Poland it's normally enough to turn the lights on and they ran away. Majority of break-ins happen when owners are not at home.

Food / Poland-Tea or coffee land? [156]

I know a lot of Poles that drink Inka, which I think is some kind of coffee substitute? From PRL times?

Yes, it's made from grains and chicory. It's drank, for example, by people who can't or don't want to drink caffeine and by kids (my niece likes it).

anytime I'd say I wasn't feeling well I'd get lots of recommendations for some kind of herbal tea or other

Yes, herbal teas and such are used as home remedies, but herbal teas are not regular tea. Regular tea (black tea being the most popular in Poland) is used as ordinary, everyday drink that Poles consume during meals and when they're simply thirsty. Of course, you can add some stuff that will make a regular tea have some more healthy properties like honey or raspberry juice when you have a cold, for example.

Lol.

It can be accompanied by a Polish donut or a cake of your choosing, of course :))):
