News / Raising Poland's legal drinking age to 21 [95]

we are talking about teenagers, 14

Young teens are not even fully developed yet either physically or emotionally.
And you think feeding them a drug is o.k. !
You are the one that needs to get a grip.

News / Raising Poland's legal drinking age to 21 [95]

Back on topic again..............

It's just encouraging responsible drinking.

No child should be given any kind of drug even as bad as the water quality is in Poland.
In this day and age there are very good water purifiers to make lemonade and juices.
18 is the common sense age to allow alcohol for young adults.

Not for adults but children should not be introduced to any kind of drugs.
If anything, it sets an example that if it is o.k. with the parents then it is o.k. to do.

kids often have problems with alcohol in later life.

Which is my point and thank you.
Then when the kid gets in trouble or addicted it points right back to poor parenting.

To get back on topic..............

some flexibility is good.

I disagree.
Parents should be setting an example of not encouraging or aiding alcohol use or any other drug with children.

I remember in my drinking days 2 was just the beginning.

We have always called that the two beer buzz. lol

.It's funny if you can vote and join the army but you can't drink.

I agree, 18 should be the legal age with no exceptions.

Life / Barking Dogs in Poland [65]

I said the same thing to my neighbor about his dog that barked all day and night and just wouldn't shut the F - up.

I think it just like hearing himself bark.
Realizing it was such an obnoxious annoyance to the neighborhood he finally put it out of it's misery understanding that the dog was very disturbed with emotional problems that couldn't be corrected.

Made for a much more pleasant and relaxing neighborhood.

I also used to live there and was born there so i know, i saw plenty of 12y/o drunk boys and girls.

That boils down to just plain poor parenting.

Food / Polish Salted Butter [68]

Being Irish, I must disagree :)

Being an American with many choices to choose from, I would have to say that nothing comes close to being as good as Kerrygold Pure Irish Butter.

Language / Game - guess Polish idioms/sayings in direct English translation [1756]

Narcissists can't stand to be left out of anything....

Is this why you butted in here with your diminishing remark? lol

I asked for the Polish idiom.

I told you already and even posted a source.

Polish people here in the U.S.A. use it for an idiom all the time.

That would make it Polish. yes

That appears to be what you are doing now though.

Oh, heavens no, I didn't mean to make you feel so guilty.
I was merely asking if my idiom fell into the same category as yours. ;-)
Here is another idiom for you.
'Let's not blow it out of proportion'.

History / Terrible past for the Jews in Poland? [930]

Give me your truth why 1 billion people are anti-semites.

Why were Jews hated in Poland by the Poles?

Very good questions to the topic, Rich.

Not part of my program and don't deal in such.
The zloty was at 3.75 to 1 on January first and is now at 3.90 to 1.

If anyone is left invested in the stock market I would suggest you take your losses and get out now.
Dementia joe is finishing it off in style just like Trump said he would.

Love / What do you think of Polish girls? [40]

I am disappointed how low is level of this conversation...

What do you expect when the questions was:

Can anyone advise me what to look out for in a polish man if you are a relatively successful female?

Compared to what kind of success ?
It is obviously a trolling question as it is saying what a success she is and how Polish men are inferior to her success.
Being successful doesn't mean she is successful as potential wife that insists she sit between her husband and mother in church.
Success can be measured in many ways.

Genealogy / What are common Polish character traits? [425]

Now see I thought it was fat old British man of German decent that likes to pretend to be first generation Polish. lol

What is it with Polish people that when they become vindictive that their main weapon is to try and shame and embarrass the person on their sht list.

That is definitely a Polish character trait as you have seen used on this forum (especially by the women) over and over again by Polish members or members with Polish ancestry.

What do consider to be "relatively successful" female ?
Or it could be what the Polish guy should be looking out for in a relatively successful female.

History / Can anyone from Poland tell me about Auschwitz and The Ghetto? [625]

Here is a tid bit for the OP.

Polish Catholic midwife Stanisawa Leszczyñska delivered 3,000 babies at the Auschwitz Concentration camp during the Holocaust in occupied Poland.
One can only wonder how many of them survived.

History / Why is Vatican traditionally on German and not on Polish side? [65]

Why is Vatican traditionally on German and not on Polish side? i mean, when it comes to strategic interests

Have you seen the latest Crow ?
ROME-The Vatican on Monday forbade blessings of same-sex relationships, contradicting calls for the practice by progressive bishops in Germany and elsewhere, and setting a limit to the conciliatory approach to gay people that has marked Pope Francis' pontificate.

The Vatican's doctrinal office, in a document personally approved by Pope Francis, said it wasn't permissible for clergy to pronounce blessings on any relationship outside of marriage between a man and a woman.

Food / Request for cake or pastry recipe for an elderly Polish lady [20]

My favorite was a honey cake with a lemon topping sprinkled with powdered sugar that my Babcia use to make me in the old days.

Our family has looked high and low for her cookbook to no avail.
(I think one of the family members has it and doesn't want to give it up.)

Life / What's the story with Nergal? (Singer from Behemoth) [40]

I'm sure he was popular when he ripped up a bible,

Nergal is candid in his commentary. I like the fact he is an independent thinker and isn't afraid to state it as he sees it.

I thought this scum was suppose to die ten years ago..

Musician Adam Darski - best known by his stage name "Nergal" as lead singer of Polish extreme metal band Behemoth - has been convicted for offending religious feelings by a court in Warsaw.

It ordered him to pay a fine of 15,000 złoty (€3,340) and court costs of almost 3,500 zloty.
