This fat bastard is totally irrelevant in 2020 but he keeps flapping his mouth

Still, if you can use one libtard to put down a couple of libtards that's so much for the better. You got desirable results without even getting your hands dirty.

Yes, it is. I have to make those disclairmers quite often. Simple minds often don't comprehend a concept of critical thinking and making their own conclussions based on source material. Take note for future reference

To be perfectly clear, before simple minds will start accusing me of supporting all of Moore's econo-political views depicted in this documentary: I don't agree with everything he said in this documentary. I do agree however with the major point of the movie that is so called "green" energy is a scam and is not economically sustainable.

The "green power" doesn't exist without taxpayer [socialist call it 'government'] donations.

To all of those who still believe in "green energy" here's the latest documentary about that scam. And it wasn't done by some conservative journalist but by a left-wing populaist and socialist activist Michael Moore

"Growing into"? Seriously? Nationalism is a kind of new thing for Poles???

No, it's a traditional and natural way for Poles. What I mean is that the young generation found a solid connection with their roots and rich history. Something which was discouraged or at least distorted first by the communist and later by post-commies painted as "liberals"

I doubt most are ready for it now

In Germany, most likely. I have good memories from the army. We've practised dynamic shooting with assault rifles and pistols, trained BAS hand to hand army combat system (later on when I took civilian full-contact Kickboxing lessons it felt like a child play to me), even had a paramedic training. The army kept me fit, focused and dysciplined. It trained me how to stay cool headed and focused in frantic situations. And since we learned combat techniques it is only natural to use those skills for a good purpose in the future.

Now the army is fully professional and contract-based.
Back then it was mandatory service for young men. A school of life. We are still young men in our mid 30's. And now there are voluntary based terrytorial defense units created in 2016 which attact young men to a military service.

it's a generational progress

And in Poland people are growing into healthy nationalism. It is a generational progress. I think you believe too much in marxist determinism and Fukutama's "end of history" nonsense. "Liberal democracy" (as named by various groups of socialist since it doesn't have much to do with Liberalism in traditional sense) is not the only, nor natural, way for the societies to follow.

there had even been wars leading to and keeping this unification.

Is Germany ready for another war to "unify" Europe? Keine grenzen

The moment the US breaks up into 50 sovereign states we can discuss again what a smart move that will be for the Americans

OK, let's start with a fact that the EU is NOT United States of Europe. The EU is NOT, and will never be, a federation. The latest German constitutional court ruling has proved that beyond any doubt.

The EU is only a politico-economic union which has insatiable appetite to swallow sovereignty of its members which is strongly opposed, especially by Poland and Hungary. And if we drop a "politico" from it it could have a bright future and be accepted by all the members and a form of free european market with no strings attached.

There are few countries who want the USA to stay in Europe as much as Germany.

Well, you've got no other choice but to "welcome" the US Army since it's there since 1945.

I was referring to Franco-German project of building so called EU army which we already discussed last year. Macron has said that: "We have to protect ourselves with respect to China, Russia and even the United States of America."

News / Presidential elections 2020 - your opinions about campaign, candidates [2222]

BTW: A.Duda supporters shouldn't feel triumphant either [yet] since with a "support" of embarrassingly bad TVP and Szumowski's "quaratine measures" his ratings may tank as well.

Also, exchanging one bigger embarrassment [Kidawa] for a slightly smaller embarasment [Czaskoski] will give POKO candidate some extra points. This will most likely translate into 2 rounds elections.

And just like PiS lemings - which is a majorty of voters - will vote for a PiS candidate no matter what, POKO lemings - also a majority - will do the same for POKO candidate. The fight will be over the mythical centrist electorate.

We've got some interesting developments.

"Charismatic" POKO "leader" Budka wants to replace a walking-talking embarrassment which is Kidawa-Blonska (she's like a Polish version of Hillary Clinton or Theresa May) for another embarrasment named "Czaskoski" (Polish version of, I don't know...Mr. Bean?). And the ruling party PiS is...defending Kidawa-Blonska as a presidential candidate against her colleagues from POKO because she's a very confortable opponent for Duda :-D

Furthermore, no one really wants to replace her since it is a political suicide mission to be a POKO presidential candidate in the upcoming elections.

Oh, And Kidawa doesn't want to resign as well causing even more tension in a "total opposition" political circus. Welcome to 'House of Tards' season 2

You mean till you, with the help of a real big power shovel, dig out the whole of Poland and transport it to somewhere else

Geopolitics is more than just that. Many things can affect geopolitics in Central Europe. For example:

Steady economic growth and Polonization of vital branches of economy like banking, mass media, energy industry. This could be done by adopting similar law as Germany has to protect their economy to silence all the potential criticism coming from the EU. There's no point of reinventing the wheel here.

Poland could also leverage the potential of underdeveloped CEE region and Balkans. Which is being done with Via Carpathia highway project and gas pipeline to Croatia. 3SI is also part of it.

And obviously a millitary power which would guarantee a potential military agression on Poland to be completely unprofitable.

And also by not allowing the US army and the American presence to be pushed out of Europe, which was tried already by France and Germany.

Poland did offer them an opportunity to expand westwards with this war

Poland was the only stumbling block on their way back then. 1920 Germany was soft as cheese and would be cut easily by the Red Army.

No harm in his, since our politicians are wise enough to leave those things buried where they should be.

Whether Germany pay on or is not that important to me. What's important is that Realpolitik dictates that a country should use every tool at disposal and every oportunity to leverage its vital interests.

And since German criminal nazi past is your soft side it should be used effectively as a political tool. It can also be used to create scepticism towards Germany in domestic politics which can be utilized in many ways. We've got less to loose than you - since our relations are not symmetrical - and much more to gain.

I stand by my opinion that from geopoltical point of view Germany is the biggest threat to an econo-political independence of Poland. And I will not change my opinion unless geopolitical situation of Poland change.

No doubt this battle was important for Poland

It was important for Europe. Germany was on a brink of revolution and Bolshevik Red Army was marching with a torch to light it up and to move forward. Lenin and politbiuro were very open about it.

Poland has stopped that. So now you can say "thank you kindly" cause you owe us. No worries, it's not going to be added to the ongoing bill for WWII ;-).

Just because Poland, and the rest of Central Europe, has this option doesn't mean it is going to be used. But it certainly helps at the negotiating table

Poland should be the defender of Poland and Polish interest first and foremost. Historically speaking defending Europe never paid off

@mafketis

China may be a threat to its neighbours in Asia but not to Poland. They are interested in cooperation with Central Europe in building a new Silk Road (Belt and Road Initiative) in an attempt of breaking an economic blockade which America and Britain can impose on them at any time by blocking ocean trade routes leading out from SE Asia.

And Russia is still entraped in a cold war Zbigniew Brzezinski* doctrine, a Polish-American US security advisor, who entraped them in Afgan War (so called Soviet Vietnam).

They are surrounderd by NATO bases and no matter what they do they will loose in the long term: if they remain quiet - like until 2008 - they will slowly loose their sphere of influence. And if they act agressive like in Georgia and Ukraine they will show their violent face to the world and can expect retaliation from the Western World.

So Putin may look like a savvy politician on TV screen but he is holding a loosing hand and no amount of bluffing will help him.

how would you make sure that these industries remain in private hands and not subject to interference from politicians?

I'd follow best examples on how to handle those matters - relations between big industry and military complex and the state - from countries like the US and the UK and adjust it to a unique local circumstances.

China and Russia treat their own citizens, what makes you think they'd be any more benevolent to Polish people?

Because Poland is not Russia nor China where a human being is not an individual but an object, a property of the state. Never was a never will be.

We all have to reinvent ourselves...the EU isn't to blame for any of it, but it can help!

Yes, by introducing new taxes, regulations and limitations which will especially hit developing European economies in the first place...

Instead to live in the past

Past shapes the presence. And Germany has, and follows, its historical national interest which is ultimately against the best national interest of Poland. As simple as that.

The only difference is that the tools have changed but the goal is the same: to expand and to control. By finding ways to jeopardize a rigged game Poland is acting rationally and in its best interest.

There is deindustrialization because of the globalization

Oh really, then how come Germany is the second goods exporter in the world and its economy relies mostly on industrial power? No, it was deindustrialized to eliminate the potential future competition and also to transfer that extra labour force to produce components for German automotive industry. Same thing has happened in Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.

Germany wanted to transfer Central European economies from potentially competitive to complimentary to German industrial complex. It's the same old Prussian plan for mitteleuropa.

The current Polish government, with alll its flaws, saw that and opted for Anglo-Saxon transatlantic cooperation which will counter-balance German econo-political influence in Poland. The right-wing Konfederacja will take things even further in the future...

Spike, do you realise how many of those companies worked?

Yes, many were obsolete and beyond saving yet there were some, like sugar refineries, that were profitable and doing well after the year 1989. They were killed by a political decision, not by the market, and now many of them are shut down or belong to foreign (German) companies.

Why are you supporting such businesses as an alleged free marketeer?

You can stop with those tactics cause I've mentioned on many occassion here on this forum that I'm a national capitalist who believes - no "believe" is a wrong word here - who is certain that money does have nationality.

And under national capitalism key industries like military, energy and other strategic industries should be controlled by Polish private owners and Polish private companies.

The fight against the billions of EU funds

The EU funds are a tool of social engeering on a large scale. And it is not a "free money" like many people tend to believe since Poland paid a hefty price by enforcing the EU regulations which has led to closing down many companies or ever the whole industries - like sugar refineries. It has also led to deindustrialization of many regions of Poland and imposed a hefty tax on Polish energy industry which is based on coal.

So for each project that was completed with the EU funding there's another one which couldn't be created because of the EU regulations.

So there's no point for doctors wearing masks during surgeries also? ;)

@kaprys, European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control doesn't recommend wearing them :-)

"There is little evidence that wearing face masks (e.g. surgical-type) outside of healthcare settings during the influenza season or a pandemic offers effective protection or reduces transmission, and ECDC does not recommend their use."

Let's be honest here. The "EU core" is hostile to Poland for various reasons: no to "refugees", conservative values held by the nation, "wrong" political choices and allies etc. The "core" attacks Poland even now when we are still a full member of the organization with the right of veto. It's safe to assume that those political hostilities would not end once Poland leave the EU but will even increase in volume.

I see the act of destroying the EU in its current form as a simple act of geopolitical self-defense.

And frankly, if you can't make it in the EU you won't make it anywhere!

That's why I want Poland outside of the EU structures because I firmly believe that our country can flourish in a competitive open and global market of free exchange of goods and services.

Something which could not be said about many "old" EU countries which will struggle outside of socialist structures of the EU and addicted to donations and handouts, devilish tools of social engineering.

And that's why I believe it will be much easier to destroy the EU and build a new organization than to refom the current EU.

@BratwurstBoy, that's what you think. Poland doesn't have to accept status quo and be content with suboptimal results.

The new possibilities, which we don't even know about yet, will open in the future. Just like it did with refugee crisis and Brexit. Poland needs to stand firmly by its goal of Europe of nations and the right tools and allies will show up to deliver it. Think about it as a baner under which the other like minded states and groups will gather under.

Then you need to back it up with some evidence. It's really quite simple, isn't it?

I'll try to explain it using a highly sophisticated specialist jargon:

That piece of clothing called face mask which you're are wearing has tiny holes which allows you to breath in and out. And that felonoius coronavirus is tiny-weeny and it easily gets through those holes in and out causing all sorts of trouble, inluding brain damage among followers of a cult of coronavirus.

Yet, there's a solution to all those issues: you can just simply stop breathing. Suck that coronavirus!

If that sounds too radical you can also spend the rest of your life locked in your flat. Oh, wait...

together afterwards and build another UEFA or EU, this time better than before

That's what I'm counting on. Once this left-leaning, economically ineffective and simply put politically oppressive organization disintegrate we can build a decentralized Europe of nations and not centrally powered organization - with appetite for becoming a federation - operated by neo-marxist generation '68

surrounding countries would want nothing to do with a scenario in which Poland dictates things

You cannot imagine cooperation without dictating the others what to do. You are truly a child of the EU.

Poland is the biggest and strongest member of Visegrad Four group yet is not dictating other member states what to do. Same goes for 3 Seas Innitiative

If by asking this question you want to know from which political propaganda repository I'm slurping my "messages of a day" [to be able to counter them effectively using political instructions from your chosen repository] the answer is simple: none.

And I advise you to do the same: just use your own brain and don't delegate all your thinking processes to propaganda centres. One day you'll wake up and you'll have to google "what are the lastest news and how should I react to them?"

treaty in question barely got through parliament

And this time it barely didn't got through and led to Brexit. Barely makes a world of a difference

Well, the current EU is German dominated so the next iteration of federalists EU would be also, so not much of a difference here. Yet, more and more member states want a Europe of nations and not a federation. Even Germany has opted for it with the latest Karlsruhe ruling. I think that the process of erosion and deconstruction of the EU could be steered in desired direction of voluntary economic cooperation between nation states of Europe.
