Law / The best job in the World - Polish farmer. [50]

not to a shop that demands the prices should be at the lowest so that the farmer must give a poorer end product.

it still should be cheaper... in today's economy, people go where it's cheaper... it doesn't help the farmers, does it...?

i'm talking about buying straight from them... they come to the city and want at least double prices for their products... pff...

Having a party is far different than going 7 hrs away to the sea side with your family ...

family lives sometimes far apart... it's not a farmers-only thing....

believe you me i could talk about this for ages..

that's a job... we all do some work... up or down the hill included...

boys could only stay 4 hrs

well, village weddings lasted 2, 3 days in the past.... some still do... it's just about getting used to the inconvinience...

These days everything costs more and the farmers suffer..

farmers suffer? and what about people who has to triple pay for what he sells...

fight climate

like what? an iceberg melting? floods happen, had happened, and always will...

dairy farmers they can never go together as a family on a holiday , not even one day away.....

oh please!!!! farmers party a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

Most of them are poor and farms are small .

hm... interesting... during student times, i have had a few friends out of Krakow whos parents were farmers... they have never complained about anything, they were hard workers, but no complains about a bad situation... they were always bringing lots of yummy food to the campus from a weekend at home... we visited often during school breaks for camping...

i think a farmer's job has its pro and cons, like any other profession...

Travel / Jazz in Poland [27]

The name is generally thought to come from the Czech word půlka—literally, little half—a reference to the short half-steps featuring in the dance. But from its very outset, the word has been influenced by the similarity to the Czech word Polka, meaning "Polish woman/girl"[1], and the Polish word "Polka" (also Polish woman/girl). The name has led to the dance's origin being sometimes mistakenly attributed to Poland. It should also not be confused with the polska, a Swedish About this sound 3/4-beat dance with Polish roots; cf. polka-mazurka. A related dance is the redowa. Polkas almost always have a About this sound 2/4 time signature.

it's not uniquely Polish... it's a Central Europe dance... originated in Czech...

History / What do Poles think about Turks? [761]

oh oh.... rock got pissed....;)

monika87:
In the nationality of the Turks, Indians, Pakis and Arabs all have dark skin, almost the same dark hair and eye color.

that's like saying Spaniards and Italians are the same way... dark, arrogant, and shagging everything what moves... we all have some faults...
;)

*.... stereotyping off....*

You can not generalize this, but I believe for the majority it is certainly one reason.

If it happend so often Poles from city centre/suburbs wouldn't move to blocks

and where would they move?! lol

it has to be depressing.

cities located not so far from one another

the US is a huge country compared to Poland... Americans relocate all the time... i don't really see why you make such a big deal out of nothing...

well most of the Poles I've met over there (some are still my friends) are complaining about the life in Poland.

of course they complain; complaining is in our Polish blood... you should have known that already after 4 years...

it's totally different

everywhere, in every new place, life is different, you need to learn and adjust...

If you want to party you go to a bigger town, it doesn't matter where you live. I don't see a big difference between Poland and the US in that matter.

OMG! what a hassle... if you guys like to party, just live in a big city... instead of complaining it's boring...

I don't think this happens often.

you don't know much about life in PL then...

In Poland in ugly (at least from outside) commieblock housing projects you have people around you to befriend with and spend time as opposed to US

do you mean that you entertain yourself by listening your neighbors arguing, kids crying and teenager screaming downstairs... it's not an entertainment for everybody, you know?

Well maybe NYC, Chicago, SF and Boston aren't boring but the rest of US surely is. I can't imagine living in the middle of nowhere 40km from the city centre.

it's a matter of YOUR choice...

Living in Poland is harder than in US, Canada or Australia, no doubt.

why?

But at least Poland isn't as boring as US for example.

US is boring? how Poland isn't?

Additionally you live among your kind not blacks or mexicans

racist crap...
